I noticed in Adam's video and the product description that the short nap side goes to the surface to be dried. That also surprised me. So much for my sense of logic!
Actually, I believe the factory is closed for TOURS for 18 months. The plant shutdown for model year change-over will be a little longer this year, but way less the 18 months. I forget, but if I remember correctly something like 6-8 weeks.
A "ZR1" (Basically aC7 wide body with motor, aero...) is considered a definite. Rumors are a mid engine will follow.
I used about 16 OZ. of product...for my Suburban. Applied 1:1 with an Adams pump bottle set for a somewhat fine mist. About 5 minute dwell, very light agitation, another 5 minute dwell, rinse/wash/rinse. Don't let the Wheel Cleaner dry on the vehicle.
So you want me to share my other vices?
And run the risk of being committed, sued, publically embarrassed on the WWW, shot by a jealous husband, jailed...
Thank you, but I'm gonna pass on this one Ryan.
If I'm reading this correctly, this is basically a touchless wash using Car Shampoo followed by a towel dry aided by Detail Spray. That would be definitely be seriously pushing the limits of the intended use of those products.
Touchless washing, unless done with harsh chemicals, often leaves paint with a dirty film and hence the surface is not ready to be towel dried...Detail Spray or not.
5 gallon buckets for sure...for the soap bucket don't fill 5 gallon all the way or use a 3.5 gallon bucket.
The washboard is really nice...particularly for cleaning/rinsing brushes and as, well, um, a washboard for towels and applicators!
Wash fewer panels before rinsing.
Re-washing the vehicle with shampoo, fewer panels at a time, may of been an easier solution to removing the dried shampoo...sometimes the best removal approach is using more of the same.
The Merino Mitt for the top 2/3 or so and the synthetic Wash Pad or the new sponge for the very bottom could be a good combination. Also maybe the new sponge for the front and forward surface mirrors where bugs like to crash.
Mice are a constant battle...multiple lines of defense seems to be the best approach.
Adding to the above suggestions:
While plugging up entry points, add traps along their path. (They apparently have poor eyesight and tend to travel along walls...)
Mice are a major reason I do not cover my car. (Mice like dark, confined spaces.)
"Mouse proof" the outside of the building as well. Keep the grass/weeds in check. Use exterior traps and repellent.
Use approved bait stations to avoid harming harmless and/or domestic animals.
I have seen Detail Spray streak if the car is not dried thoroughly when the the spray is used as a drying aid.
Try misting and drying one panel at a time. After initially drying a panel, flip the folded GWDT to a drier side and give the panel a light buffing. Rotate through the folded towel so that a dry side is used to buff a panel or 2 before using that side is used to dry. (I mist the dry side with a bit of Detail Spray before using.) Alternatively, you could dry the entire car panel by panel and then buff (maybe with a Double Soft) as a second pass.
There are marine products (acid based) that will likely take that off with ease...On/Off is one example. Be careful with that stuff!
Believe it or not, Adams Revive may do the trick with little work, especially on the waterline in the first picture. The stain on the transom may be tougher.
Once clean, a good coat of sealant and/or wax will make future cleaning way easier.
