Yes you could. Or, don't top with anything. It's not like the paint is going to deteriorate in a couple/few days or weeks.

OK, I boiled my linting towels a week or two ago and haven't had a chance to try them out yet.  I boiled them each alone, and a couple minutes one by one.  I did not use vinegar.  I then washed them with R&B.  I usually wash them cold or warm because I thought you were to only wash them warm at the most.  I never use fabric softener with micro fiber, and I never wash them with anything other than microfiber.  I only wash Adams with Adams, and never wash Walmart shop microfiber with Adams primo microfiber.  I have linting, but the towels are 2-3 years old.  Am I to assume Adams is responsible for this because I followed proper washing/use procedure.  I love a company that stands behind its products, but I can't in good faith raise the warranty flag on this.  I buy a ton of towels and have a rotating stock... if the linting doen't stop after I implement some of Brazn's suggestions, the existing double and single softs in rotation will become dirty duty or other ghastly deed towels and I'll open some plastic bags from the Harry Potter closet to replace them.

I've had this happen to towels in the past, both Adam's and other high quality brands. Like you, Joe, I tried all kinds of different types of laundry detergents, plain water and boiling with no change to the linting problem.

However, since switching to Adam's Microfiber Revitalizer and Brightner it's stopped. This detergent is specifically designed for cleaning out the chemicals we use these towels for, the others just weren't strong enough I'm guessing.

Here's how I clean my towels, it may be a bit of overkill, but it works for me:
1.) I pre-treat any spots or heavily soiled areas with a solution of the Microfiber Revitalizer and Brightner cut 70% with distilled water and leave them sit in a bucket, pre-treated, for 30 minutes. On rare occations where the towels are filthy, I'll let the soak in a bucket with 1oz of the detergent overnight prior to washing, but this doesn't happen often. In this carse I'll just wring them out prior to placing them in the washer.
2.) 1oz of the detergent goes into my front load HE washer along with the towels and they are run on the soak cycle. They sit in there for another 30 minutes after the soak cycle has finished.
3.) Another 1oz of detergent goes in the washer and they are washed with hot water.
4.) I run the washer one more time on the hot water normal wash cycle with no detergent, add 1/8 of a cup of distilled white vinegar to the fabric softener dispenser and set the machine to run an extra rinse cycle.
5.) I dry the towels in the dryer on medium heat.

A couple other things I do:
1.) I only wash full loads of towels.
2.)The load washed and dried prior to my towels will be a load that no fabric softener has been added to to minimize the chance of any fabric softener residue being left in either machine.
3.) I remove the soap/bleach/fabric softener dispenser and thoroughly wash any residues out of it.

    Overkill? Perhaps.
Do my Microfiber Towels lint anymore? Nope.

Here is the latest.  All 4 rims are cleaned up and waiting on tires.  After tires are mounted I will polish with Adams 1 & 2 and then seal them.

420 mile 7+ hour drive to the show from home Friday.
2012 Ames Performance All Pontiac Tri-Power Nationals.
There was a car wash right next to the Motel. Friday evening after the sun started to go down as well as the temperatures I sprayed the car down with the high pressure wand from the car wash and proceeded to dry it with a Great White Drying Towel and one bottle of Waterless Wash. Placed a cover on the car overnight.
Up Saturday morning and there was no humidity, one thin coat of Brilliant Glaze on top of the coat of Americana I'd layed down before the trip and BAM!

First Place in Class. The Brilliant Glaze on top of everything else really made the paint and color stand out.

No need to clay every time. Test the surface of the vehicle by placing your hand in a plastic sandwich bag, run it across the finish to feel for contaminants. If it's only been a couple/few weeks throw on your second coat with no worries.

After a tough fight with Sears Customer Service regarding my Soft Buffing Wheel being sent to the wrong address (their fault), I picked one up on line from Caswell Plating.

The Craftsmen web site is near impossable to navigate so I Googled what I wanted and found that Sears themselves had it and placed the order. What I was unaware of was that it was actually a vendor authorized to sell with Sears name. Sears didn't want to help at first and wanted me to deal directly with the vendor. After making quite a stink I was able to get them to refund my money. Some companies thought of Customer Service...

Here is where I've been able to get the Center Caps:

Sanding progressed from 220 grit through 3000 grit.
Machine polishing was with two Firm, one Medium and one Soft cotton Buffing Wheel attached to my 1/2hp bench grinder, using all four of the Sears compopunds on their own specific buffing wheel.
Hand Polishing was done with Adam's Metal Polish #1 using a Blue Hex Grip Applicator followed up with Adam's Metal Polish #2 using a Mini Americana Applicator.
The residue was wiped off with one of Adam's Premium Metal Polish Towel then buffed with a felt jewelry cloth.

What I've learned working with this forged billet aluminum is that if I did get it to an absolute mirror finish, seemingly nothing more than breathing on it would marr it. I've got to rethink what perfection is to this material and either live with it or put them for sale once done.

    Check out this reflection:

I've now started wet sanding the imperfections out of one of the front wheels starting with the 220 grit paper. Wish me luck, and I'll report back with more pics later...

Those caps look great!  And I'm with you on seeking perfection on billet - it is not happening.  I'm going to live with imperfection and move on.  I was so mad yesterday on mine that I wanted to say screw it.  But once you do achieve results it is satisfying.  Keep up the good work!

    What do we have here?

How about a set of Forged Aluminum SP550 CCW's (Complete Custom Wheels). These are polished (well at one time) raw Billet Aluminum, 19x8.5" up front and 19x10" out back. They're made specifically to fit the 2004-2006 GTO with no modifications needing to be made to the fender lips to fit up in the wheel wells.

    Um...

Yea, they're used and appear to be from a daily driven car that wasn't maintained very well. I've got some work ahead of me before they find their way onto my GTO. Hey the price seemed right.

A little over 2 hours on the above wheel.

    So far:
    Deep Wheel Cleaner
    Trim and Lug Nut Brush
    0000 Steel Wool
    Cordless Drill
    4" Metal focus pads
Mother's Power Ball Mini and Cone
    Metal Polish #1
    Edgeless Utility Towel(s)

I'm no where near done on this wheel yet, there are a few spots I'm going to have to wet sand, but they're coming back nicely.
