  1. UPDATE: Unfortunately due to a low RSVP count and impending inclement weather and low temperatures, we've decided to cancel this detail clinic. We do apologize for anyone that may have already made plans to attend. Instead of having the toy donation and clinic, Adam will take 10% of all revenue from this Saturday (12/5) for the team to buy toys for children this Christmas and we will donate them all to Toys for Tots! We will have another detail clinic once the weather warms up in a few months. Stay tuned for further updates, and again, we apologize for the inconvenience. -Dan We're very excited to announce a Toys For Tots toy drive and Winter Detail Clinic at Adam's Headquarters on December 5th! Start time is 9AM, and we will finish up the clinic sometime around Noon. We have some fun activities planned for this event in addition to the detailing clinic - Santa will be here, we'll have a Bounce House for the kids, and we're giving away a Free Stocking Stuffer to everyone in attendance! Coffee, water, and breakfast/lunch snacks will be provided as well, similar to how we had things set up at the Fall Detail Clinic a few weeks back. We do ask that you please bring a children's toy to this event as a donation to Toys for Tots. They typically request for toys that do not require batteries, but any toy will certainly be appreciated For the Detail Clinic, we plan to cover the following topics: Proper Winter Washing Winter Protection Winter Maintenance And as always, we will be happy to answer any questions throughout the morning. There will also be a few awards/prizes given out - Cleanest Domestic, Cleanest Import, Farthest Traveled, and Oldest Car Driven! A full summary of the event is included in the flyer below. We hope you can make it out for this fun event!
  2. That truck is gorgeous. If I had room for a new Silverado or Sierra, that is the exact color I want!
  3. The guys have pretty much already said what I was going to, but I will add that Brilliant Glaze was one of my best friends when I had my gloss black Trailblazer SS, for when I didn't feel like constantly polishing the truck but still wanted to give it an awesome shine
  4. Hi! We're a fun and friendly community here, so please don't hesitate to ask any questions and don't be a stranger! Looking forward to hearing about or seeing your ride
  5. Yep, I've melted mine down once following the procedure that Wolf linked up above. I wouldn't recommend doing it too many times with one container of Americana though, because if you get it too hot you might start affecting the different components that make up the wax.
  6. For doing a full Rinseless Wash with a 5 gallon bucket on a moderately dirty vehicle, I would not recommend to use the blue waffle weave towels. I prefer using our Double Soft Towels because of how thick and plus they are, because that allows more of the slick Rinseless solution to stay soaked up into the towel as you are wiping down the vehicle. The Borderless Gray, our old Borderless Blue, and our new orange microfiber towels will work well too since they are nice and plush. If you have the Rinseless Wash diluted down into a 16oz spray bottle as a detail spray to wipe down a dusty or slightly dirty vehicle, in that case it would be ok to use the waffle weave towels for cleaning the vehicle.
  7. Thank you for signing up for our forums Matt! There is a ton of great information here, and everyone is always willing to help out. Beautiful S5 you have there, man those are sharp looking cars!
  8. Thanks for the support Sindee! It certainly means a lot, and I will be sure to pass the message onto Ben and Kourtney!
  9. Hi Zach, thanks for the suggestion! Right now, we don't offer a dedicated spray-wax, but I can recommend our Brilliant Glaze or Detail Spray to give you quick, awesome results at a show! Brilliant Glaze is my not-so-secret weapon for winning many awards at the All GM Nationals in Carlisle and several other cars shows I've attended over the last 5 years or so. As soon as I get to a show, I will wipe down my car with either our Waterless Wash or Detail Spray and then put on a coat of BG, because it goes on and off incredibly easy and gives stellar results. It's not a spray wax per se, but rather a liquid glaze. I prefer this at car shows because surrounding owners can get quite grumpy if you start spraying products around their vehicle. Since BG goes on by hand with an applicator, you don't have to worry about any kind of overspray mist landing on the vehicle next to you. Our Detail Spray is also an excellent shine enhancer and our #1 selling product. It has a small amount of carnauba content in it, and it is perfect as a maintenance product in between regular detailing and wax routines.
  10. Hi Scott, I can't give an exact minimum ambient temperature, but I will say that I've used both in my garage during the middle of winter last year in the 45-50F range without too much trouble. You may need to use a little more effort for removal though. Now I have a portable heater in there that keeps the garage more in the 50-65F range depending on how long I run it
  11. I agree. It's almost a night and day difference how much easier Paint Correcting Polish is to work with now compared to the old Severe Swirl Remover and Swirl & Haze Remover!
  12. Yep, I was going to say it was changed to blue probably about 3 years ago, but Chris already beat me to it! It was changed to blue so as not to be confused with our orange Paint Correcting Polish (which replaced the orange Swirl & Haze Remover a few years back as well). I still have one of the old bottles of orange Revive Hand Polish with a little bit of polish left in it and it still works great. I also have bottles of our other discontinued or reformulated products - green Severe Swirl Remover, both white and orange Swirl & Haze Remover, white Fine Machine Polish, Brilliant Spray Glaze...I can keep going
  13. Welcome! And don't worry, the only kind of judging done around here is at car shows, where the judges are blown away by the shine
  14. Wow, that is awesome! Thank you everyone for your support and thank you Adam for making this possible!
  15. One box of 100 Disposable Detailing Gloves Size Large will be on its way out to you either today or tomorrow! oldfordisbetter chose these as his free prize. He is officially the first winner in some new contests I will be doing exclusively for our forum members
  16. Hi and welcome to the forum! You will find that everyone is friendly around here and we're all detailing nuts looking to help out others. Please stick around and don't hesitate to ask any questions!
  17. Thank you to all of the veterans out there past and present, giving their all and more to serve our country. And an extra big thank you to my hero, my dad!
  18. At the $150 range price-wise, the Porter Cable 7424XP is pretty hard to beat. It's a durable, well constructed machine that will be reliable for many years of detailing.
  19. From one Daniel to another That's a beautiful Lexus you have there...I'm not sure I mentioned that in your posts from the other day! As for the "staples" for the beginning detailing arsenal, especially if you are going to start detailing on the side, here are the main ones that I would panic over if I didn't have any backups, lol: - Chemicals: Car Shampoo, APC, Deep Wheel Cleaner, Detail Spray, Tire Shine, SVRT, In & Out Spray, Glass Cleaner, Total Interior Detailer, Leather & Interior Cleaner, Leather Conditioner. On a typical, fairly dirty car that is brought to me, I will end up using approximately the following: 1-2oz of Car Shampoo, 1/3-1/2 of a 16oz bottle of Deep Wheel Cleaner to spray down all four wheels if they are super dirty with brake dust, 1/2 of a 16oz bottle of Detail Spray if I'm claying the car, 1/8 - 1/4 of a 16oz bottle of Tire Shine depending on how large the tires and sidewalls are, and then small amounts of Glass Cleaner, TID, LIC, and Leather Conditioner - with those 4 products, a little bit goes a long way. SVRT and In & Out Spray will both last fairly long since since you aren't using a lot of product when applying those either. - Materials and accessories: Two 5 gallon wash buckets with Grit Guards - one for wash and one for rinse, a few wash pads or wash wedges, short wheel brush, Turbo Stick or Wheel Woolie, Trim & Lug Nut brush, a few foam block applicators or Pro Tire Hex Grip Applicators, and a minimum of 2 or 3 sets of machine polishing pads if you will eventually start to offer paint correction on vehicles. I like to use at least 2 wash pads or wash wedges when cleaning a vehicle - one fresh one for the top half of the vehicle, and another one for the bottom areas like side skirts and bumpers that tend to get more dirt buildup. I almost always need at least 2 orange foam or orange microfiber polishing pads when I am doing paint correction in one afternoon, because the pads will eventually build up too much polish and will need to be cleaned out to continue to be effective. Cleaning and drying a pad during the middle of a detail isn't usually an option for me, unless I will have the car for several days, because I don't want to spend extra time always cleaning and drying pads during the middle of the day. I wait until the end of the day and give all of the pads a thorough cleaning and then let them air-dry for a day or two. - Polishes and Waxes/Sealants: Not everyone is going to want you to spend the time to machine polish their vehicle, so you will want to have enough supplies to polish and wax by hand or by machine. One bottle of Revive Hand Polish with a hex applicator will last you through several vehicles, as will Brilliant Glaze and Liquid Paint Sealant with one of our Red Hex applicators or a black microfiber applicator. If you go the wax route, a bottle of Buttery Wax will last just as long as the BG and LPS, and you can probably get 20-30 cars out of one tub of Americana or Patriot Wax if you apply them nice and thin like they are designed to be applied. With machine polishes like Paint Correcting Polish and Paint Finishing Polish, you are only using a few pea-sized drops per 2'x2' area, so you will also be able to do many cars with one bottle of each. - Microfiber: Lots and lots of microfiber towels! I made microfiber towels their own bullet point because they are that important to me. I really dislike if I'm 80% through a job and my Single Soft or Double Soft Towel is too built up with polish or wax residue and I don't have a fresh clean one to grab to finish the job. These pictures are probably about half of my towels - I have a bunch of Borderless Gray towels that are waiting to be washed: Yes, I have a problem and my pictures are a little extreme But I do like to have at least 2-4 of each towel type. The nice thing is that a lot of our towels do come in 2-packs, like the Waterless Wash Towels, Edgeless Utility Towels, and so on. I always like to have at least 2 clean Great White Drying Towels as well, in case I want to wash two vehicles over a weekend. I hope those are some good pointers for you. Please let us know if you have any other questions
  20. I hear you there. I think I've detailed 5 engine bays in the 50 or so cars I've done over the past few years - and those 5 were show cars - but I just do detailing as a hobby on evenings and weekends. Surprisingly, only about half of the cars I do want their interior cleaned too...their interiors are usually more garbage receptacles rather than nice driving environments I can't stand a dirty engine bay though!
  21. True. For most customers, he could possibly skip steps 8, 9, and 14; and if they didn't want the engine bay cleaned you could skip steps 1, 11, and 12.
  22. Sweet truck man! I always tell myself I will never get another black daily driver vehicle again, but I've been looking at some anyway
  23. Hi Anthony! I'm sorry to hear you are disappointed. Our Car Shampoo was reformulated about a year ago. It's now a dark blue instead of red, with a new wild berry scent instead of cherry. It's more concentrated, so that means less soap used per wash with more suds. It is still a thick shampoo just like the old red Car Shampoo. Can you provide any pictures of what you received? The old red formula is no longer for sale, other than maybe a few 16oz 15th Anniversary Throwback bottles that we had at the warehouse that were on clearance at the detail clinic last month. As Chris said, give us a call at the Customer Service number and we can help you out. 866.965.0400. Thanks.

  25. The only times I've ever been to Texas have been sitting in airports...just sayin' I would love to come visit if we could gather enough interest for a small show and if I can find the time to travel...I say we wait a little while longer until it gets super cold in PA so I have an excuse to leave for a bit
