  1. Dang thats some dedication. Great work..as always.
  2. Sounds like more great work being done to an already sweet ride! Can't wait to see and hear about the results.
  3. I would do an IPA wipedown or another wash after claying if it was really bad.
  4. Well as my wife called it....his and her cars. She had asked me the other day to give her some "car washing" lessons the right way now that she's got her camaro. So we got up early Sunday to beat the heat and I walked her through the Adams way (park in shade, good fire hose rinse, foam gun with adams shampoo, APC fender brush love on the wheels, 2 wash mitts one top half one bottom, two buckets, pool rinse...etc). Well about the point of the pool rinse I was losing her..after that I think it was often "huh..now what was it I had to remember". We even got around to a fresh coat of Americana. I applied she waxed off with a nice double soft. She took it upon herself to tackle the inside while I washed my car on my own (she knows better than to ask if I need help on my car). Anyways after both were done and Adamized she wanted to take them out around town together and get some shots of them. Here's what she came up with.
  5. Was asked to detail an old PT Cruiser two weekends ago. This thing showed up looking like various farm animals had been living in it. The paint was in just as bad of shape unfortunately. Saddly none of my before shots really turned out for paint issues. I started bright and early to beat the heat around 7am with a nice two bucket strip wash (oh as always all products are Adams except for some 3M adhesive remover). After the wash I did some clay work. This resulted in tossing the clay chunk after i was done. Granted I had clayed 2 other vehicles with this piece before but this was literally the type of "clay half the hood fold and turn, second half fold and turn, half a door fold and turn etc" Anyways after the claying I went at the interior first. Wow wow wow this was a mess. Took me a good 45 minutes to vacuum this all out (partly because I was having issues with my MetroVac500..since remedied by Ashley and Metro). I wiped down the plastics inside using some waterless wash. The guy who's car it is is allergic to everything and didnt want any harsh chemicals used for fear of allergic reactions. It also meant I avoided the carpet and upholstery cleaner as well. I ended up treating the plastic dash and doors with SVRT instead of LIC as well just to go a bit mild. Onto the paint..which proved to be another challenge. Two passes of SSR green pad, 2 passes SHR orange, 1 pass FMP white all on the flex and I was still left with loads of bad damage. The overall shine was amazing but this car has a TON of bad scratches that would need something way more aggressive then SSR (ie compounds, wool, wet sanding..all of the above). Anyways..7 hours later and she definitely looks way better than when I started...and the owner was ecstatic. Gave new life to his old get around town car. Enjoy the pics!! Afters
  6. I'm a little late to this one but first off..great results!!! I was going to add if you're detailing outside under a canopy or any situation really and the paint is so hot that you can't hold your hand on it for 5 seconds without burning it it's pretty pointless to try to do any sort of correction work. Your polishes will dry up instantly both on the car and in the pad.
  7. My vote is..you determined it's a daily driver. It doesn't matter what the product is if you get into daily driver "dust" removal with waterless wash or any similar no water/no wash product you'll start putting light damage into the paint. Accept the fact that it will incur damage along the way BUT you have the tools and skills in house to clean up whatever shows up. This way you can enjoy driving the car every day without getting too hung up on the "what ifs" that are out there. Drive her hard! Correct her as needed.
  8. I concur...lesson needed to be learned only once.
  9. I full detail our two daily drivers twice a year. Once in the spring coming out of the harsh upstate NY winters and once in November to clean them up and get new fresh coats of MSS and Americana on them to protect them for the long winter ahead. Other than that it's just bucket washes.

    Wow...just wow

You're safe on this one....this embarassment happened in Greece NY a suburb of Rochester. Don't matter where it happens though it's a complete disgrace.

    Wow...just wow

These little punk a$$ delinquents are from Rochester. This is big news in town. Folks want to find these kids and beat them. The school board is planning to take action from the sounds of it.
  12. OH HELLLLL YES! Outstanding Bee there!
  13. No more gaming eh? Bummer! Good luck with the sale.
  14. Would love Dylan or Mook or Adam's take on the vid...pretty please.
  15. Maybe a better job with the touch up paint. It should be pretty smooth by now and be able to get a good fill with the touch up.
  16. Just my .02 seems like you're moving too fast and not much pressure. Granted you're using the flex so you don't use near as much as the PC but it doesn't look like any compression on the pad at all. Speed wise, at least how I go with the flex, I'm almost half as slow as that.
  17. This would probably be a great topic for one of Dylans FAQ vids.....just sayin:-)
  18. 1. Start right away. Do a strip wash then a baggie test to see if u need to clay..assuming u have clay. After the strip wash go at it with some glaze an americana. 2. You would only polish when its needed. If your wash technique is solid u may only need to polish once or twice a yr. Keep up on the washing w two buckets and americana as needed and u should be fine. 3. See answers 1 and 2
  19. I'm through 2 sprayers so far on my LI cleaner. It definitely eats em up.
  20. Thanks! Plastidip and a debadge. also picked up the plastidip glosser and put it on the wheels.....i like them better with a little gloss.
  21. Yea..but this is MSS/Americana from 5+ months ago. Only thing since then has been two bucket washes QS is solid but definitely doesn't have the staying power of MSS.
  22. thanks everyone! Saddly the two full after shots I took are both blurry Bummer for sure because it looked like a whole new bike afterwards. My buddy rode off grinning ear to ear.
