  1. So Saturday I had washed and waxed the wifes camaro and washed my car since all the stuff was out. It dawned on me after seeing it there in the driveway while I waited for my buddy to arrive to do his motorcycle detail that dang...i STILL hadn't done my spring detail on my charger and she STILL looks shiny as ever! Since it's a daily driver i've convinced myself to just deal with what occurs and plan to do a full strip wash, polish, MSS, Americana both once in the fall heading into winter and once in the spring after the long winter. Well I just haven't had time to get to my car yet so I haven't done anything to it other than some two bucket washes since last November when I did the strip wash polish, put a coat of MSS on and two coats of Americana. So this is how she sits with no correction, a daily driver, and through winter with a coat of MSS and two coats of Americana almost 6 months ago. It goes without saying but Adams Machine Super Sealant and Americana combo is da bomdiggity!
  2. This past Saturday one of my buddies brought his old 20+ year old Suzuki up. It's a new bike to him. He's a new rider and this is his first purchase so he thinks it's outstanding. This bike definitely needed lots of love though. It's sat untouched for about 12 years from what he told me. This was my first bike detail so it was a little learning for myself as well but I stuck with the full on Adams love. After letting the bike cool down completely started with a good hose off then foam, then a good wash. Items used: (All items listed are Adams..well except for the hose and water) Fire hose nozel, car shampoo, foam gun, APC, fender brush, lug brush, wash mitts, green wheel cleaner, detail spray. After a wash we were able to see how bad of shape some areas were in. I told him upfront I dont have any magic to fix a torn seat or a cracked fender but the rest I'd give a go at disappearing. This included a lot of steel wool 0000 with MP1 on the chrome and our now retired hand pad with shr and fmp on the tank and fenders. I did bust out the 4" pads as well for some of the tank work. All in all I think it turned out quite decent for its age and condition. Here's some after photos Lessons Learned: This much oxidation on chrome don't even waste time with the mf pad..go right to some steel wool 0000 and MP Working with steel wool 0000 is a big PITA! Little shredded fibers end up all over the place. Definitely wear some form of gloves (which I did not). MP on chromes makes a mess Plan on having beat up hands. My left hand has 6 cuts on it now from nicking it on various nuts/bolts and engine corners. Thanks for reading!!
  3. They're DDs so they'll take damage along the way day to day be it from the washing or the driving. I've resigned myself to a spring detail and fall detail for our daily drivers to correct what's accumulated over the driving seasons and winter. Usually doesn't take more though then a pass or two with FMP on 90% of the vehicle and a few spots with SHR.
  4. I always explained it to my wife that by me keeping my car real clean and looking great for me it makes me feel like I"m getting into a brand new car everytime I go to drive somewhere. She never understood this until we just got her a camaro. Now she wants it kept spotless as well LOL.
  5. Put me down for being a fan of good ol Flip. I used him quite often. Good thing I still have two ready to use.
  6. Yea I was serious. If it's simply he's got a nice car and thinks its cool they're next to eachother then fine. But why park close enough to me where he can't even open his door all the way himself? And for what it's worth I'll take an american muscle car over a foreign car any days (and yes I realize its a V6 Camaro not a ZL1 or some 65 GT 350) (that's just me though). If i had a lambo i'd sell it and buy 2 great American cars. Funny you'd say that as well too since you've got yourself a camaro too from the looks of it. Anyways, yea she's got a v6 camaro but to me I still consider it a nice car. Good to hear everyone's input though. It did shed some light on what the owner might have been thinking. I appreciate the feedback.
  7. So my wife drove her camaro up to Buffalo Friday night to visit our daughter. They went out to eat at Bonefish Grill and she knows to park out away from others and walk the extra 30 feet. So they eat and come out to leave and this is what they find.... If this doesn't just boil my blood. And I just can't for the life of me figure out what the idiot was thinking. 1) Hey two sweet cars let me park right next to it. But if this is the case why not park leaving some more space so he could get out of his Challenger 2)Hey I'm going to be a d!ck and park right next to that camaro that parked out there on its own This stuff just boggles my mind and pisses me off endlessly. This person themselves drives a nice challenger so I wouldnt think they'd be in the I'm going to be a d!ck and park on top of you. But then why park so close when there's 100 other empty spots around.:mad::mad:
  8. We're allowed to reuse the forum code on every order? Seriously? If that's the case..DOH! Money wasted on my part over the last two years.
  9. Looks like that new trendy smoke screen window tint folks put on their windows and headlights. I hear it's legal in most states.
  10. Nice job!! One critique it looks like you put on a TON of MSS in that roof shot. Not sure you need that much but hey can't argue with the results.
  11. You're actually better off if they don't go all the way down. This means at some point it got too narrow and now has a snug fit to the sides. If it went all the way to the bottom it means it isn't tight anywhere and thus could be spinning.
  12. Planning to detail my buddy's bike...and give my car a good 2 bucket cleanup.
  13. This is sooooo much goodness!! Nice job!
  14. I have a similar issue from time to time on my brilliant black paint. I've deduced it's almost always related to temperature/humidity/sunlight issues when applying some of the product. Many times after washing the car and finishing and getting to a detail spray wipe down the product almost smears a bit and i'll come back a couple minutes later and see the darker areas. Same thing I have to rub hard to get it off but it comes off. This is usually if the paint seems warm or its towards night and the humidity is up. But there also is a lot to be said to do a IPA wipe down after you finish polishing to get all the polish residue off prior to putting on some wax or other product.

  16. I think i saw free water test kits at home depot today when i was there. Maybe swing by yours if u have one nearby and grab a kit.
  17. So some others have experienced this eh? Im definitely going to the rolling chair more often. Wouldnt you know though i just got done cleaning the interior of the camaro and found myself squatting on my toes a lot to get down into it. That camaro sits pretty low.
  18. I've noticed lately in doing washes/details over the course of a day that my big toe now ends up hurting quite a bit by the end of the day from squatting down and being rolled up onto just my toes. Anyone else run into this? I've tried to be a bit more conscious now of using a rolling chair to sit on and do the lower half of the vehicles. I think just over time from supporting all of my weight on my toes like that I probably injured the joint or something. To borrow a photo here: It's this position that seems to cause me injury at this point. Notice how his foot is rolled up onto just his toes. I don't or haven't used anything to knell on before it was always just me squatting down like that balancing just on my toes. Thoughts?
  19. Be sure to two bucket wash it though! Or you'll be back down swirl city real fast.
  20. Put me down for not wiping off the residue between steps. I just corrected my wife's camaro this weekend. Needed 1 pass SHR and 1 pass FMP. Start to finish actual work time (wash, clay, dress trim, SHR, FMP, MSS, windows) just about 6hrs. Went back the next day and put a coat of Americana on (20 minutes).
  21. Lookin mint! For me i love the red slightly better but thats only because red and black are my favorite colors.
  22. I'm always amazed how much better any car looks after claying..especially ones that haven't ever seen a clay bar before. Twice now in detailing one of my neighbors cars he's happened to come by after I just finished claying and said..wow..you're done already. LOL. I say ah nope just finished claying but still need to polish and wax. He says..wow I don't think I've seen it look this good before.
  23. Sweet ride!! Real nice photos too. Welcome to the addiction that is Adams
