Good as new. Well - better than new, actually.

I had an issue a while back where my towels were not as soft (and I plan to update that shortly)

to summerize I had washed some towels that had soaked in MFR and some had been used with H2O, and after several consecurive runs thru the machine they were not soft at all. Summary was I thought they were all "contaminated" with H2O.

I took a bunch of the towels, some that were used with H2O and others that were in the bucket but were not directly used with it.

I took a 5gal bucket, and put my towels in it with a grit gaurd on the top as a light weight to keep the towels down. Filled the bucket with water and about 4-6oz of APC. I let that soak for about 36 hours. Then washed as normal. Pulled from the washing machine, snapped each towel and hung to dry.

    result = soft towels.

Is it a solution here.....I dont know just sharing my two copper coins.

Peanut butter. Did the trick for me with a whole lot less effort than scrubbing with APC.

If you're content on putting glaze down first to fill in imperfections don't bother with the sealant.  It'd be a waste as it won't bond correctly (as others have stated).  Just do glaze/wax if that's your path.

For longest protection though sealant then wax.

The glaze + wax is a good combo for car show/garage cars.  Sealant + wax is great for daily drivers.

I had actually read a thread about folks putting some rinseless wash into the wash bucket with shampoo right before I headed out to do my wash and I agree..it did seem a bit less sudsy but more slick.
I'm a bit handcuffed here.  We recently left the awful state of NY and moved to Tennessee.  But for now we're in an apartment complex so I don't have all of my stuff with me and only have a supplied hose here.  I will give them props here though as they actually have a designated car wash bay for everyone to use.  It's covered, has an over head hose, drain, and spigot.  Sure beats having to wash in the parking lot.

That's the GDWM, Garry Dean Wash Method.

That is how most of us "pros" do rinseless washing, and is the absolutely safe way to do traditional wash.  I still wish that Adam's would change the directions on Rinseless instead of saying to use a Double soft and buckets with grit guards, I wish they would recommend multiple Borderless Blues and/or Single Softs and just one bucket and to flip a towel until it is soiled, and then set to the side and launder.

The key benefit is that you are never introducing old dirt to new dirt on the paint, and its safer than even a 2 bucket method with 2 mitts and 2 grit guards.

Here is his video of the GDWM in action on a traditional wash with soap, he pre-foams the car which only uses about 2 gallons of water, then soaks his towels in a gallon of sudsy water, and gives a final rinse.  I think he said a total of 7 gallons is used approximately.  If you do a pre-soak with foam, its an even better way to wash.

Well look at that.  I guess I self discovered the GDWM.    After my first attempt at this method it does save water.  I'm a little on the fence about how well each towel can retain enough water during the wash to be effective after a couple of flips.  This means just using more towels really, or doing like Gary did in his video, take your and and put more suds on the towel.

I'm wondreing how it holds up over time with cars that are pretty dirty.  I tend to think the wash mitts do a better job getting the tougher stuck on dirt to free up and they definitely hold more suds/water while using them.

I'm going to do this method for awhile and see what I think after 4-6 times.    In the end I'm not sure it was really faster or used less product.  I still had two buckets.  The second bucket was just empty and used to hold my used towels until I was done so I'm still lugging the same stuff out it seemed.

    Time will tell.
RickyB..thanks for sharing the GD video.

I've had the Adams foam gun now for quite some time but wasn't until recently something dawned on me when it comes to filling it up.
In the past I used to squirt an ounce or two of Adams shampoo into the empty container then use the hose and fill it up with water.  This usually resulted in bubbles forming inside the container and flowing out or filling up before it filled with water.
A week or two back while starting a wash I put the shampoo in the container and said hmm..why dont i just submerge it in the rinse bucket which has just plain water in it prior to the wash.   And bam....full container no bubbles no mess.

The other obvious thing that came to mind after this was.."hey ya idiot..you could've just put the water in the container first all along"

Just sharing..what has probably been very obvious to most already.

I also finally got out for a 2 bucket wash this weekend.  The temps went up to 43 and the sun was out so it was out there.  Had to get some ice out of the hose first but all went well.

As expected (related to my earlier post about the auto car was horrors) once washed I can now see the damage that awaits me for spring that the auto washer put on my car

Osok got a reaction from Captain Slow in Funny story...well not at the time for me
Last week we had a stretch of two days in the mid 30s.  Seemed like everyone and their brother was out at the coin ops.  Over two days I had checked at varying times 5 different car washes and each time they all had 4-5 cars waiting in line so I was not up for waiting that long.

Day two I ran over to a Sunoco couple miles away to see what their line was like.  All the self washes were lined up but their two auto wash bays only had one car in line.  I said SWEET! my lucky day.  So I pulled around the curve, got up to the machine, put my money in and as I look up from the dash to see what's up with the car in front of me currently being washed...I see it.   This auto wash is one of the dreaded big spinning brush washes.  Now mind you two of the other Sunocos I had been to are both laser wash touchless so it hadn't even crossed my mind.

Here I was...trapped.  Money paid, can't back up nowhere to pull out I'm next in line.  Doors open up and I pull in and start praying (literally..started praying).  The wash goes on for what seems like 20 minutes (I know it was probably 3 minutes tops) and as each minute is passing I'm getting nauseus...how messed up is that.  As panic is taking me over cringing every time those damn spinners go up and back I being talking to myself.....ok..no sweat..you know how to fix any of this damage.  It's ok..it'll be ok you do a spring correction every year anyways...

True story...messed up...I know.   Finally the misery ends and I drive away.  Oddly enough though when I got home and took a walk around I didn't see anything too awful, but I didn't really do a nose close inspection.  I got my head around knowing I was going to correct it come spring anyways so better not to know too much now and have 3 more months to think about it.

I told my wife the story later that night and she just spent the whole time laughing and wishing she had been there to see it.
    I know..we all know...it truly is a sickness.

    Thanks for listening.

Spray cleaner on the glass..then mist some cleaner on the towel itself (not a lot) and you shouldn't get the "sticking" towel syndrome.  A dry towel on dry glass almost always sticks.

Also...if you haven't done it in a while clay the glass really well then clean it..also helps with avoiding the "sts".
