I pulled the trigger on the sidekick blower a couple years ago, not sure why I waited. I'd say I use it most on my wheels and tires. It blows water from all them nooks that normally can't be dried until you go drive the car and spin them out. I also like blowing off the tire sidewalls before I apply VRT. If you are going to wait on the master blaster, maybe pick up a sidekick til then.

These guys are spot on with the recommendations. I'm gonna say your biggest asset will be lighting. If you can't see it, you'll move along then its too late.

Thanks! I figured so with the car wash. I do plan to use ceramic boost on both. I assumed it would play nice on both finishes. The light clay makes sense as well as a random strip coat, basically just like any finish might require. Good stuff!

So I just coated my Raptor with Adams paint coating, rim coating and trim coating. I had a detailing company do my wifes denali with CSL and exo on the paint and rim coating on the wheels. My guess is the best soap for this is the blue car wash. I see that some other companies have car washes that specifically mention designed for coated cars. Is there a difference or are they similar to the blue soap? If theres a difference maybe Adams will soon have a car wash for coatings. For now I plan to use Boost on both vehicles on all the coatings. Thanks in advance!

maybe a year ago I had the same problem, I ordered a smaller flex adapter plate off amazon I think it was. So now I'm using the 5.5" pads adams sells

I can't say it hasn't crossed my mind. My guess is it would work, but with it being on a flexible rubber, maybe it wouldn't last crazy long. But I bet it would last for a while!

So after thinking it over I wanted to update what I ended up doing to the wheels. I decided to do another layer of ceramic on top of the probably half layer I probably didn't let cure long enough. So after they cured for a few days I prep coat wiped them down again. I applied a fresh layer of ceramic to them, this time letting them cure to the proper doneness. The carbon graphite finish on the rims I think made it hard to see the product flashing. But I kept feeling the layer to tell if it started to get sticky. Then buffed off. I waited 15 hours then applied ceramic boost. Now I am awaiting til I have time to get the tires mounted and the level collars installed hopefully this week. It looked like the coating went on fine, with no issues thus far in clarity that I could tell. Hopefully this works out well, I will keep an eye on things and update down the road if issues arise. Guess we will call this a test if you will.

I saw that done on youtube, but assumed it was a professional kinda thing. I may try that out next time. I guess you still buff off after the coating gets sticky?

You may be right. I'm sure I got some benefits of the ceramic left on the rims though, maybe not 100% but protection none the less. So if adding an additional layer is a bad idea if I don't polish and start over. I might just let them ride and boost them. Then see what kind of longevity I get out of it. Then I can always do them again in a year or so if the coating seems to fade. I just can't commit the time to polish every aspect of the rims then reapply. I think my time investment is better served reapplying down the road when they need a new coat. I appreciate your input as it helped me decide the correct path I'm willing to take!

Thats kinda what I was thinking, just wanted to confirm. But if I'm being honest I probably won't take the time to polish first. I'm thinking wipe with coating prep and try again. I'm pretty busy right now, and I want to polish my truck and ceramic coat it too. I am actually paying a place to polish and coat my wifes Denali, theres just no time for me to get to both, but I want it done. Thanks for the input

Quick question, this isn't my first time coating wheels but close to it. I coated a brand new set yesterday, prepped them, then coated, waited a solid minute before wiping off coating. I will say in hind sight they mostly didn't rainbow or really get sticky in most areas before I removed. Looking back I probably should have waited a touch longer to remove but I'd say on average I waited 45 -75 seconds to remove. It was roughly 50 something degrees in the garage. Heres the question. I haven't boosted them yet. In ya'lls opinion, would you go back and hit the face again, trying to let it cure better? (I did do whole rim yesterday). Or would you say that there is probably a descent coat on anyway and that I'm over thinking it, just go ahead and boost them? Thanks! I'll try to get some pics as I go. These are some Vorsteiner 20x9 rims going on my 17 Raptor, I think its gonna look pretty sweet!

i think sometimes a little sits at the edge of the tread and doesn't dry as quick. The sidekick helps with this.

This may not be it, but throwing out there because I've noticed this. It wouldn't be tiny lint particles from the towels being left behind?

Thinking the z28 style, although if satin black was an option, that how I'd lean. Although my guess is the ceramic coating will make it look more of a satin over the matte anyway.

We recently purchased an 06 black Envoy Denali for my kitchen manager to drive. Before I gave it to her I detailed it, I used the ceramic trim coating on all plastic to revive some of the slight fading. It worked great, and looks fantastic. That was a couple months ago and today it was raining and when I walked passed it, the trim was beading like crazy!

This last time I cleaned a set of our weather techs I used Adams tire cleaner, let it sit a few minutes, scrubbed with a brush, then rinses. I let them sit a bit, then blew them off with the sidekick. They looked pretty good, they are only 3-4 months old, but a few small spots that still had some wornish dirty kinda look, nothing major at this point like older ones. So I then sprayed them with the weather tech protectant. It works pretty well, covers up any of the dirty spots, leaves a matte/satin sheen, and its not slick. I do like using it, I sprayed it on and spread it with a microfiber sponge I had laying around. My hopes are the protectant helps with future cleanings. I did put the protectant on when they were new. Hard to say if it helps with keeping them nice at this point.

I use a rupes mini on the rims. I have some 22" gmc rims gloss black and machined. I polished them with the mini, with the correct pads and polish. They polished up quite nicely! Then I put the ceramic wheel sealant on them hoping to preserve the gloss black longer.

I go over ours with a damp washcloth to remove smudges and smears. Make sure its dry, and I use a stainless polish from home depot, think its their label zep? I lightly spray a single stripe of it on each door, then rub it all in with a thick microfiber. Getting it spread and level is the trick. Its somewhat oily, so a little goes a long way, but it works great. Hard part is keeping the kids and dogs from mucking it up 5 minutes after I do it.

I just used some that has to be 6 years old, and it performed flawlessly.

I'm thinking that there are many different kinds of vinyl materials, at varying levels of age stages. I have many vinyl letter logo'd vehicles and some react differently to products. Some receive the product better than others. I think I'd personally wait till your coatings are done and dry, then try cleaning your vinyl with waterless wash, maybe apc, to try and level out or remove the product.

I have the rupes mini, I love how easy it is to control and maneuver in areas like, running right beside plastic trim your trying not to touch, bumpers, pillars, door frames, wheels, spot scratch removal. I actually grabbed it instead of my flex to apply glaze and wax on my firebird the other day. Just seemed easier than using two machines on that small of a vehicle.

I wonder if there is a ceramic coating shampoo in the works, seems like a logical product idea
