  1. Beautiful Chase!! STUNNING black.....got me sweatin.....
  2. Ok. So oven cleaner did the trick. Multiple applications & had to scrub a good bit with a MF towel. But it came off MUCH easier & quicker than what I was doing beforehand. CRAZY. I never would've done that on my own intuition. THANKS DAVE!!! Preciate the help everyone!!
  3. Oven cleaner is soaking. 1st application soaked for 5 minutes, barely did anything. 2nd coat soaked for 10 minutes, little better. I'm gonna let this 3rd coat soak for 30 minutes. Keep y'all posted. Thanks for the help & support! If this doesn't do it, I'll be buying lacquer thinner tomorrow.
  4. Emblems = OFF. Truck is looking gooooooooooooooood brother.
  5. Ok. That's it. I own a Charger. TIME TO ORDER PATRIOT!!! That damn thing looks like it has water pouring off the surface! CRAZY!!
  6. No Langka. I'm thinking of trying a 4" Microfiber pad, on a drill, and using the adhesive remover......
  7. Ok, so I have a cool retro project in the garge right now, a 1989 Mercedes 300CE. The owner wanted the pinstriping removed, and it's painted on. NO PROBLEM. The entire car was going totally smooth. Light heat gun, 3M adhesive remover, a good MF towel, and some PATIENCE. It was a piece of cake, until I hit the driver's side door.....It's been repainted, which means the pinstriping is NEWER, and it's INCREDIBLY difficult to remove. The small 4"-5" section that's been removed (below), took 45 minutes!! And I still have the rest of the door!! My fear is that I'm going to harm the surrounding paint in the process. So I taped off around it, and decided to come in & ask for a 2nd opinion. Thoughts, gentlemen?? I cant just leave a random door unfinished, but I also want to be SAFE about the deal. Here's where I'm at NOW..... It might help to know, that I've already communicated the issue to the client, and he knows about this. He trusts me to do what is right. Thanks in advance for ANY help!!
  8. Lol, Len, I hear ya..... Brian, thanks buddy!!! Yes I am
  9. Sorry we didn't get a chance to talk today bud! MASSIVE CONGRATULATIONS on the wicked new addition!!!
  10. Very cool!! Nicely done, I dig it!! I like old stuff like that with a bit of "patina" on it though. I would've lightly sanded that bad boy, and shot some flat clear on it and been DONE!! Would've kept that originality to it, with an "evident" story.
  11. Thanks so much everyone! This was a FUN car to work on! Preciate y'all very much! I didn't have that product (matter of fact it wasn't even released yet) when I did this car. My threads are created when I have time to do so, not immediately after I do the car. Otherwise I TOTALLY would've used it, this interior was perfect for it!! Correct Doug, no Americana applied simply due to time and product cost..... The one thing you gotta remember for ME doing this as a business, is people get what they PAY FOR (and I always do a little extra anyway, to give them that EXCEPTIONAL service & finished product. As in this case, he didn't pay for the full interior makeover that I gave him). So not every single job is gonna be done to the "maximum" like I would do on my Charger, simply because they didn't pay for it.
  12. Nice job buddy!! Didn't realize Nissan had so much metallic in their black??!! WOW. Love's me a bagged full size truck, just not a fan of the stickers and grille. Great work!!
  13. My guess, is that was wetsand residue left behind by the body shop....?? KIIIIIIILER job Chris, and what a stand up gesture!!!
  14. This client had been saving up for this detail for awhile! He just picked this beast up back in the fall, and the previous owner had used & abused this truck for what it was intended for! But my client wanted it brought back from the dead as much as possible for the money, so we decided on: Engine bay resurrection, interior deep clean minus carpet stain removal, and deep paint correction (we realistically agreed on 60%-70% correction, as there were many deeper scratches left, some to the primer). With two buddies helping me cram a full 2-day job into one, here's the mecca of devices we threw at this thing: Healthy scrub of Adam's All Purpose Cleaner & Adam's Boars Hair brush in engine bay Rinse & blow dry engine bay with MetroVac Sidekick Adam's Deep Wheel Cleaner & Adam's Boars Hair brush on wheels Adam's All Purpose Cleaner & Adam's Fender Brush for a healthy scrub on tires and fender wells Washed with my new Ryobi GCV190 pressure washer, Adam's Car Wash Shampoo, Adam's Jumbo Wash Pads, and store bought extendable microfiber wash mit Heavy surface prep with Adam's Clay Bar, Adam's Detail Spray, & Adam's Singlesoft Microfiber Towel to lift off embedded contaminants (along with another rogue leftover brand) Polishing was done by: 3-4 passes on Flex PE14-2 Rotary & Adam's Prototype Correction Compound/Polish, on Adam's 4th Gen Orange Pad. FOLLOWED by 3 passes on Flex 3401, same Adam's pad & same Adam's polish. Alcohol 70/30 wipedown entire truck to prep for sealant Coat entire truck with Adam's Machine Super Sealant & Adam's 4th gen Gray pad & buff off after 30 minutes with Adam's Double Soft Microfiber Coat front bumper & other tight areas with Adam's Quick Sealant Nourish engine bay in slew of Adam's SVRT & SVRT "Milk" (60/40 mix) & level with Adam's Block Sponge Dress fender wells & undercarriage in Adam's Invisible Undercarriage Spray Nourish all exterior plastics, fender flares & tires in Adam's SVRT Full deep vacuum interior Adam's Leather/Interior Cleaner & old Adam's Lugnut brush to clean seat tracks & AC Vents & tight spots Adam's Leather & Interior Care kit used on seats & doors & doorway trim pieces Clean interior & exterior glass with Adam's Glass Cleaner & Glass Cleaner Towel Finish wheel detail with Adam's Detail Spray & Utility Towel Final Inspection after full sealant cure (12 hours) with Adam's Detail Spray & Adam's Double Soft Towel ON WITH THE PICS! Here's how she arrived, engine bay first: Makin' dirty things, CLEAN again: Hit the all-weather floormats after I finished up the engine bay: BJ Turning brown tires BLACK again: Lethal "1-2 punch" on wheels: Despite having 3 of us working on the GMC, it still took us 20 minutes to clay bar this monster, here's why: Upon inspection, NO surprises....swirls, RIDS, & marring EVERYWHERE: Here's a couple angles on the tailgate during polishing, you can still see some of the deeper scars left, but a HUGE turnaround, nonetheless! If the budget would've been bigger, I feel very confident we could've gotten another 10% correct out of this finish: Left = passenger door, Right = passenger front fender after polishing: Time to lay a shell of armor on this beast: Sealant setting up: Final shots, again, not "perfect" - but a pretty massive change & salvation: Money shot: This guy will continue to USE his truck. It will get dirty. But he's now protected & nourished, and he's interested in enrolling in a maintenance program with me, to at least maintain this beast once a month!! Thanks for hanging out with me, just shout if you have any questions!!
  15. I was really looking forward to this one! It belongs to the son-in-law of a client I did a 2013 Gran Sport Vette for, a few months back. So I was HOPING this one would come my way! And I knew it was in worse shape than the owner "thought" it was (like usual), so I really had a chance to change the way he perceived the overall finish of this Mustang! Here's how I handled business: Popped the hood & simply rinsed it out with Adam's Firehose Nozzle, it was only "dusty" in the engine bay Dried the engine bay with MetroVac Sidekick Blaster Killed the fender wells with Adam's All Purpose Cleaner & Adam's Turbo Stick (tight clearance) & tires with Adam's Fender Brush Slayed the wheels with Adam's Deep Wheel Cleaner & New Lug nut Brush Full 2-bucket wash with Adam's Car Wash Shampoo & Adam's All Purpose Cleaner & Adam's Jumbo Wash pads Full rinse, followed by pool rinse technique to aid in drying Owner was honest about clay bar & said he did it just a month ago, and even after my testing, came up with nada, so surface prep was fairly easy. I just did top surfaces and tail to cure my OCD itch (despite not pulling anything, lol) with Adam's Clay Bar, Adam's Detail Spray, and Adam's Single Soft Towel After my strip wash with CWS & APC the car was still beading water, so even pre-polishing I did a wipedown with 70/30 IPA & and Adam's Single Soft towel to help strip further, as to not clog pads. Tape off vinyl decals with Adam's Detailer's Tape Most polishing was done via ONE-STEP with Adam's new prototype correction compound/polish & Flex 3401 with an Adam's 4th gen Orange Pad (yes on black) Rest of polishing on front bumper and lower side skirts was done with Cyclo Polisher (testing) with 2-Adam's 4" Orange Focus Pads & Adam's prototype correction compound/polish Wipedown entire vehicle with 70/30 IPA & Adam's Singlesoft Microfiber towel to prep for sealant Coat entire vehicle with Adam's Quick Sealant & let cure for 1 hour Dress fender wells with Adam's Invisible Undercarriage Spray & block sponge Final detail on wheels with Adam's Detail Spray & Utility towel Dress all exterior plastic with Adam's SVRT Polish exhaust tips with Adam's Metal Polish #2 Polish Moroso metal parts under hood with Adam's Metal Polish #2 Polish radiator cowl underhood with Drill, 4" microfiber pad & Adam's Prototype correction compound/polish Dress entire engine bay with Adam's In/Out Spray and Adam's SVRT Adam's Waterless Wash entire vehicle to discharge static from Quick Sealant Top off vehicle with Adam's Americana Paste Wax & remove with Adam's Double Soft Microfiber Towel Vacuum interior Dust dash, console, gauges, etc. with Adam's Detail Spray & Utility towel (reeeeaallly wish I would've had the new TID for this, but it didn't arrive yet) Clean interior & exterior glass with Adam's Glass Cleaner & towel Car will probably be coming back in a couple months for a paint correction on the powdercoated wheels, as those weren't addressed in this particular detail. ON WITH THE PICS!!! Arrival condition, car has 40k miles, and is NOT a DD, garage kept: Cat footprints.... Engine bay before, not bad, just dusty & a bit chalky: Getting started: In an effort to strip existing protection, I added 4oz. of Adam's APC to the otherwise normally Ph Balanced Adam's Shampoo: Pool rinse to aid in faster drying: Baggie test to feel surface: And this is ALL I got after the roof, hood, and trunklid: IPA Wipedown prior to polishing to further remove old protection: Here's what I found upon inspecting the raw paint: Time to do work: Got out the Cyclo for the tight areas down low: My little Metabo 4" made a quick appearance for the tight tail area: Taillights before: Taillights after: For tightness on the big radiator panel under the hood: Metal sexiness: Engine bay pimped: Alcohol wipedown again, before sealant/wax combo: Finished shots: LOVE this tail baby: New rear window mod This rolling black mirror was reflecting the greenery in my driveway all over the place, lol. Thanks for hanging out & reading!!
  16. THIS. TRUCK. IS. RIDICULOUS!!!! I love it John!!! You nailed it brother. DAMN I wish we lived closer. I could see many nights in the garage with many beers just talkin' cars while our wives *****ed about it whilst watching the new chitlins, lol......
