  1. Thanks holmes!! Working the polish until it flashes. The Cyclo has worked its way into my lineup due to testing for Adam's. But ALSO, because it fits into areas, and onto panels where the Rupes & Flex don't fit. I don't have a PC & 4" kit, nor a Griot's 3" polisher. I have a Metabo 3", but I'm not quite sold on it. The Cyclo is PERFECT for the ground effects, small & narrow panels, etc. I have used it on almost every detail since I received it, and I'm in love, for the areas it fits.
  2. Thank you gentlemen! Mucho appreciado. No sweat Erik, lol...... She was a good time. I feel great about every car that leaves my garage. But every once in awhile there's one that leaves an impression.....this was one of those, for me.
  3. I was SO STOKED to work on this baby! I knew it had some cool custom touches, was loved by the owner (despite the lack of proper paint care), and it had been painted by Goolsby Customs, so I knew I was dealing with a righteous ride!! This client GLADLY ordered up the finishing coat of Adam's Patriot Wax, after seeing results on my FB page from other cars. Here we go! Gentle hose off engine bay with Adam's Firehose Nozzle to remove dust & surface dirt Blow dry critical areas of engine bay with Metro Vac Sidekick Blaster Full 2-bucket wash with Adam's Car Wash Shampoo & Adam's All Purpose Cleaner to strip old protection Clay bar vehicle with leftover rinse water, Adam's Detail Spray, & Adam's Great White Drying Towel Polish vehicle with Rupes LHR21 Bigfoot & Cyclo Polisher 3 passes of Adam's Correction Polish & Adam's Microfiber Cutting Pad / 1 pass of Adam's Finishing Polish & Adam's White Foam Pad Wipedown car with Adam's Waterless Wash & Waterless Wash towel to remove polishing dust Detail door & hatch jambs with Adam's Detail Spray & Adam's Utility Towel Apply Adam's Brilliant Glaze with Rupes & Adam's Red Glaze Pad Apply Adam's Patriot Wax Dress engine bay with Adam's In/Out Spray & Adam's SVRT Seal wheels with another brand Rim Sealant (client request) Treat all plastic, rubber, & tires with Adam's SVRT Quick vacuum interior Treat all interior panels with Adam's Total Interior Detailer Clean glass with Adam's Glass Cleaner & towel Final inspection handled by Adam's Detail Spray & Adam's Double Soft Towel Ooooooontoooooo the pics Paint upon inspection, after clay: During Polishing: Afters: This thing was a blast. Static dropped on coilovers & sittin' RIGHT. And I'm normally not a huge fan of chrome.....but on this car, for some reason....I really dug it!! Hope you enjoyed reading as much as I did detailing it!!
  4. Dylan says a LOT of smart things above. So do the other gentlemen. This is a huge can of worms to open about pricing, especially when geographics are involved. But I'll give my two QUICK cents. To the OP, the only pricing I think is fair of your three options is the interior one. The others.....are still too LOW in my opinion, by FAR. The things that I've realized in my short time (4 months) of doing this for a living, are: 1) I'm okay if I don't get ALL the business, especially from people like that. Because they're never going to appreciate my level of OCD & care anyway, so screw them. They're better off going to the "local car wash." You have to be okay with letting some people walk. Especially when they clearly don't understand the difference in the quality of work. 2) Rich clients aren't always the best clients. They talk a big game, don't back it up, and are nearly impossible to communicate with, because they're so "busy." I've had MUCH better success in networking with other passionate car guys the understand the love, rather than idiots with money. 3) Most automotive "craftsmen" (mechanics, fabricators, etc.) work for $60-$100/hr labor. And that doesn't even include parts!! So that being said.....what do you think your time is WORTH? 4) Have enough pride to stand behind your work & your pricing. And know how word it, professionally & cordially, when somebody challenges that. Sometimes people just need you to explain WHY you're so much better than the shop down the road. If they still don't agree, then see #1. Hope this helps. Best of luck. Keep ya chin up. Happy detailing!
  5. LOL. Thanks gentlemen. I didn't find this paint to "abnormally" soft....? Definitely NOT the hardest clear I've ever worked, but I wouldn't say it was OVERLY soft. I appreciate the kudos boys.
  6. This client came to me by way of following my FaceBook page. I had never worked on one of these little FWD rockets before. Pretty damn cool car to be honest!! However, it was a prime example of how things can RAPIDLY harm your car. Even though it was a 2013, and only had 12k miles. The lack of protection, and use of automatic car washes, quickly wrecked this car's curb appeal. Here's how the salavation went down: -Vacuum Interior -Stains on rear seats removed with Adam's Carpet/Upholstery cleaner & Adam's Utility Towel -Dash, doors, instrument panel, etc. Handled with Adam's Total Interior Detailer, Adam's Utility Towel, and fine brushes, along with Adam's Detail Spray on the shiny parts -Engine bay soaked with Adam's APC, lightly scrubbed with Adam's Boars Hair Brush, then rinsed & blow dry with MetroVac Sidekick -Wheels cleaned with Adam's Deep Wheel Cleaner & Adam's Turbo Stick -Tires & wheel wells scrubbed with Adam's APC -Pressure Wash car to knock off surface dirt -Foam cannon soak with MTM Hydro containing Adam's Car Wash Shampoo (3oz.) & Adam's Waterless Wash (2oz), rest of the 32oz. cannister filled with water -Full 2-bucket wash with Adam's Car Wash Shampoo & Adam's APC to strip existing protection -Rinse & leave car wet for clay bar process -Adam's Clay Bar & Adam's Great White Drying Towel & Adam's Detail Spray -Corrected with Rupes LHR21 Bigfoot, Adam's Orange Pad, & Adam's Correction Polish -Pulled car out to rinse compound dust -Polished with Adam's Finishing Polish & Adam's White Pad -Nourish engine bay with Adam's In/Out Spray, SVRT milk, & Adam's SVRT -Adam's Invisible Undercarriage Spray in wheel wells -Alcohol 70/30 mix wipedown -Apply Adam's Quick Sealant -Wipe down car with Adam's Waterless Wash to discharge static -Layer on Adam's Americana Paste Wax -All tires, plastic, and rubber fed with Adam's SVRT -Final inspection done with Adam's Detail Spray & Adam's Double Soft Towel BEFORE DOIN' WORK PAINT BEFORE POLISHING DURING POLISHING AFTER CORRECTION, BUT BEFORE FINISHING POLISH AFTERS Hope you enjoyed! Thanks for reading! ALWAYS here for any questions!
  7. Thanks gents!! I appreciate all the kind words! My writeups have slowed a bit, and this one I wouldn't even consider a writeup. It's a shorter, condensed version, lol. Life has been busy lately. Both business, and with a new son. So I haven't had QUITE as much time for them. Have a couple in the pipeline though. Thanks a ton!! JBlack......LMAO BRO!!!!
  8. This was a job I recently completed at a shop, in my client's home town. Incredibly nice guy, he hung out all day while I worked on the car. Both him and the shop owner were totally enjoyable to get to know, while I worked. VERY unique car, and one of the last of it's kind. When I'm not in my shop, with my lights, I find it very hard to capture defects, via 50/50 & before/after pics. On top of that, with this being an out of town job, I got right to work, and didn't have time to waste. However I feel these beauty shots at the end of the detail, speak for themselves. This was a paint correction only, and car was immacculate when I arrived. Process was: Adam's Polishes Clay Bar, Adam's Detail Spray, Adam's Single Soft Towel Compounding was dealt with via another brand, as I'm out of Adam's Polishes SSR, SHR & am awaiting the NEW formula of Adam's correction compound (as are most people, lol) Adam's Fine Machine Polish & White Pad Rupes Bigfoot LHR21 Adam's Brilliant Glaze Adam's Americana Paste Wax Adam's SVRT & Adam's In/Out Spray on engine bay Adam's SVRT on tires Adam's Invisible Undercarriage Spray on wheel wells Adam's Detail Spray on wheels & windows Here ya go!! I'm returning to this client again, for another vehicle, in a few weeks. I'm hoping to lay another coat of Americana on this baby for added gloss & added protection. Thanks for hangin' out & reading! I'm here if you have any questions!!
  9. Absolutely BREATHTAKING!!!! DAYUM!!!!!
  10. As of right now, I'm planning on keeping the running boards. I just flat out like the way they look. Time will tell.....
  11. Thanks guys!! I appreciate it! I know not everyone is gonna like what I do to this truck. What I'm trying to accomplish with it's theme is not for everyone, but it's mine. The wheels haven't been done AT ALL on a new vehicle. They'll be entirely original. It's gonna be a minute though......
  12. Truck is aptly named, due to the Kodiak Brown color. Just a basic XLT 2WD extended cab. Cloth seats. Basic stereo. Nothing Fancy. But I needed a new truck for my business (sig), and it HAD to be a V8, and it HAD to be this color. Those were my stipulations. My goal with this truck is to infuse a bit of "old school" into the vibe and feel of the truck. It has 1000 miles on it as it sits in my garage now, had it for a month. Here's what's been done so far: 20% tint front windows Full debadge, except for the ones still remaining (due to holes left behind) Black Ford emblem overlays front & rear Stealth bulbs to replace OEM amber turn signals to eliminate "egg yolk" look Satin Black vinyl wrap to cover orange mirror reflectors & headlight corner reflectors Old school "V8" front license plate Mexican blankets to cover seats K&N cold air intake Full Magnaflow exhaust: OEM resonator delete with straight pipe, 18" Magnaflow replaced OEM muffler, 4" Magnaflow tip BellTech #972SP drop kit 3/5 Vanity tag on the way "WAXN IT" - biz related, lol Stubby antenna Hitchmate cargo stabilizer bar Whenever I get a new ride, a full day is spent doing my personal version of a new car prep. WAY too many scratches & defects implanted on the paint, due to dealer neglect. Paint correction was handled by the following: Adam's Polishes Prototype Correction Polish (to be released soon) Adam's Polishes Prototype Microfiber buffing pad (to be released soon) Sealed with Adam's Polishes Quick Sealant Topped off with Adam's Polishes Patriot Wax All plastic & rubber treated with Adam's Polishes SVRT Interior protected with Adam's Total Interior Detailer Undercarriage dressed with Adam's Undercarriage Spray On to the pics! I absolutely CANNOT stand the orange/amber lenses, etc. They completely mess up a clean, cohesive package. Had to delete that nonsene!! Even the engine bay got some serious love. The dealerships have NO CLUE how to do a proper new car delivery. I appreciate y'all hangin' out and reading. Wheels are in the works. Just might be a little longer. Keeping in the OLD school theme, they'll be totally original. Hope you guys digs.
  13. I'm out. That's actually NOT dust. One of my pads got "scarred" a little bit, so it's "crumbs" from a little bit of the pad flaking off. The prototype compound is all I used on this particular car. And the dust of it, isn't anywhere NEAR that level.
  14. BUWAHAAAAA @ Eric!!! Thanks fellas.....!! Tom - NO KIDDING. I had such a difficult time showing the quality of BLACK that the car was, because it reflected the backdrop TOO DAMN MUCH!!! Erik - It passes......MAJOR. That stuff is seriously going to CHANGE THE GAME!!!
  15. Preciate ya fellas! I will reveal the new shop truck next week. She's getting slammed this weekend, and I'd like to get a coat of Patriot over the existing detail, as well. Other than that, all mods are done. Stay tuned!
  16. ALL GREAT recommendations!! THANK YOU GENTS!!!
  17. I have a headliner job coming in on Thursday, cleaning from a water leak, small water stains & other random dirt/grease stains. The color is light gray. It's the first time I've tackled a "bad" headliner. I'm envisioning using Carpet & upholstery cleaner, hot water, and my shop vac. Will probably cover the seats and lower parts of interior. How have you guys cleaned (thoroughly) headliners in the past, with great success? Cautions? Helpful hints? Thanks so much!
  18. Car looks like it was literally poured out of metal!! SICK WORK JOHN!!
