Ok, I found a wicked-awesome deal on these and couldn't pass it up even though they're not matte bronze like I initially wanted. I can't say I'm looking forward to applying the Coating, though
I'm about ready to pull the trigger on a set of wheels for my 4Runner, and will be applying Wheel Coating to help keep them easy to clean. I want to coat them before my tires are mounted and balanced for 2 reasons.
- It will be much easier to work with a 20lb wheel than a 71lb wheel/tire combo
- They'll never be as clean as they are fresh out of the box (no road grime, brake dust, or tire-mounting lube) - they're matte bronze so they can't be polished
Of course, this leads to the question of how long I would need to wait before having the tires mounted. I assume the 24hr cure time would be sufficient? Also, I have a concern about the weights adhering properly to the coated/boosted wheel. I know at least one person here has had an issue, but others haven't and I've read posts from other forums where people put weights on coated wheels with no problems. I'm thinking its probably not a big deal, plus since the wheel is matte it won't be anywhere near as slick as a gloss coated/boosted wheel would be. -

I use Brilliant Glaze and Ceramic Boost on my stainless steel appliances.

First time smoking a butt. ~8 hours on a Pit Boss pellet smoker set to 250. Ignore the beans, they turned out awful

I used a paint brush to apply VRT to my KO2s when I had my F150. Time consuming but it got in all the nooks and crannies.

If you're going to use Brilliant Glaze on your matte stripes, make sure you test in an inconspicuous area first. I had matte black stripes on my Charger and BG made them look absolutely amazing. Then I had matte black stripes on a Mustang and BG made them look absolutely awful.

I think we need a good counter to the "what did you wash, shine, and or polish today" thread

Yeah, even Walmart carries a few Chemical Guys products now. I wouldn't mind a parts store carrying some basic Adam's products. Not anything fancy like a Coating kit or Swirl Killers, but it would be nice to be able to run out real quick to buy some Tire & Rubber Cleaner or something if you run out in the middle of a detail.

Usually after the coating cures, it needs to be topped with a sealant, like ceramic boost for example. The ceramic boost would prevent these spots from happening. I'm assuming maybe this wasn't done in this case?
If these spots are etched into the coating you'll need to try a mineral deposit remover or worse case scenario, polish them out and re-apply coating in those areas.
If the "topper" is what prevents the water spots, what's the point of the ceramic coating in the first place?

Not that it makes up for customer service blowing you off, but I think Strip Wash is the only Adam's product that needs any kind of "special" bottle.

I think you would be able to use the micro fiber square applicator for it.
I had to quit using those for exterior work because I couldn't stop dropping them every couple of minutes

I'm sure you're right, but someone always seems to come up with an "off-label" way of doing things around here

My concern would be an uneven, perhaps streaky application given the peaks and valleys on that applicator vs. the smoothness of paint. Doesn't matter with tires since they're generally a lot more uneven anyway. My two cents.
Not the tire applicator, the red wax applicator one.

By spraying into a towel, you prevent overspray. It also helps the product last longer as it won't get blown away as you're spraying it onto the paint. I would think it would work either way but you have more control over it if you spray it directly into a towel and only apply it where you want it.
I wonder if you could spray it onto a hex-grip applicator like the "alternate" method that we used for Quick Sealant way back when? The hex-grips are a couple bucks cheaper than a single-soft and I'd feel much better about having to throw away a hunk of foam every time instead of a nice microfiber.

Does it need to be polished off like their traditional ceramic coating?

If you don’t want to wait, it’s already been done by several other companies.
Nah, I'm in no rush, I was just curious if it was still going to be a thing.

I've seen that too, but I've never really been wowed by the W&W. Of course that could be because I've never used it on a coated car.....

I wonder if they're still working on the car shampoo that was specifically for coated cars

Ceramic Coating topped with Ceramic Spray Coating Topped with Ceramic Boost = You car is now bulletproof
Price is reasonable for the product and longevity, I'll definitely be trying it out in the spring. Did anyone else read the description in Adam's voice

I've never used Clutch, but just reading the manufacturer's website it sounds more like Ceramic Boost to me.

I was told by someone from Adam's (credible) that this is a true 9h coating that is sprayable!
If that's the case it makes sense to me that CB is still required. Not that I'm complaining, just thinking out loud.
Either way, I can't wait to try out this and Tire Armor in the spring

Does it need to be topped with Ceramic Boost? If not I need to hurry up and finish my bottle
How harsh are pressure-wash soaps on your paint?

Ceramic Boost as a stand-alone and Guard & Gloss both do a pretty decent job of standing up to them, I imagine the Paint Coating or Ceramic Spray Coating would fare even better.
