  1. Got up @ 5 am to get the smoker ready. Dropped 14 pounds of pork butts on it around 6:30. My plan is to eat, drink, and be merry today. Having a bunch of friends and family over today. Cooler is full and iced down. Almost makes work seem worth it.
  2. Nice job. Don't ever drive one of those cars unless you have big bucks, are willing to sell a kidney on the black market, or want to live a life of disappointing rides. Not much compares to those.
  3. Congratulations to Adam and all involved. It is Nice to see good things happen to good folks. Best wishes for continued success.
  4. I'm not sure who told you that, but I would not consider that good advice. As someone who has worked in IT/Engineering for 17 years I can tell you that there is no substitute for a proper education. By saying proper I mean institutions of higher learning that award degrees. Certificates will only get you so far. In the IT world certification(s) over and above a degree, or degrees, is where and when you will get paid.
  5. Nice think rib eyes on the grill, my 2 teenaged daughters to take the day off from fighting, and a cooler full of Newcastle Brown Ale. I will happily settle for 2 out of 3.
  6. I thought that I wanted one of those too.. I just got down with a Weber 22 inch kettle grill and a Smokenator. For under $200 I now have a grill that can do spectacular heats....700 for a sear is no problem or hold 225 for a good long smoke for 8 hours plus. The Green Eggs are great, but very expensive. Smokenator 1000
  7. My wife complained once about the cost of Adam's products. I told her the cost and then gave her an estimate for what an afternoon out drinking at the local "ballet" would cost. I'm in the garage/driveway, have a few beers, and it's harmless fun for me. She does benefit from it as well. Never heard another complaint. I think I will spring for the Flex soon!
  8. They say Schill had invested $12 mil of his own funds into that shop. I don't feel too bad for him as he's not to worried as to how to feed His family. I do feel bad for the employees who got let go. I don't want to start a big political discussion but I also find it funny that the outspoken pitcher who was previuously opposed to government bailouts was more than happy to move his shop fro MA to RI for loan guarantees and was then looking to the state of RI to bail him out in the end. After 2004 the guy should never have to buy another beer in Boston. Other than talking about his past experiences on the mound he should just shut up.
  9. While life insurance is certainly a good idea you should also consider disability insurance. At your age you are more likely to become disabled (in general) than to die. Disability insurance should not be over looked. It's not morbid at all. Taking this into consideration is the responsible thing to do.
  10. Hopefully 0. I believe it to be a societal cancer.
  11. I too have a Weber Genesis. This past weekend I replaced the 3 burner tubes. I love how parts are readily available and are not too expensive. The modular design is nice and makes it so easy to fix. That grill is 14 years old as works as if it were new. As far as one tool to do multiple things...I wanted to get a smoker and had considered the Weber Smokey Mountain rig. Instead I got a 22.5 inch Weber kettle grill and a smoker insert from Smokenator 1000. I wound up with a great Groupon to a local joint so I saved about $100 and now have a great smoker as well as an extra grill for when my wife invites too many people over!
  12. I agree. Both Jr. Seau and MCA in the same week make the world somehow not as cool.

    TiVo?

Thanks Brendon. I have heard about the issues with the M cards, but have also heard it has improved. Turns out that I have a local FiOS storefront that I can go into to turn in their DVR and supposedly get the M cards on the spot. I'm fine with the whole navigating from box to box. I figure 99% of the recording will be done on the Elite as that has 2TB which should be plenty of space to watch in that main room. We'll just stream from the master bedroom to/from that box. My kids won't like it as they will lose out on the deal. I'll buy 2 TiVo's but not 4. I figure if I make it too comfortable for them here they might never leave. I'm also hearing that TiVo is coming out with some new box that sound like a stream only device to be used in secondary rooms connected back to a main box. That could be interesting. Thanks again.

    TiVo?

I currently have a multi-room DVR via FiOS. It is buggy, the boxes lock up, and it's not exactly cheap. I used to have a TiVo thru DirecTV many moons ago. Does anyone here have TiVo? I am specifically interested in the Elite model that has 4 tuners and streaming capabilities. I was thinking of getting that plus an XL and connecting them either via ethernet or using The MoCa network of FiOs. If anyone has any direct experience with the newer models and streaming between them I would appreciate any insight you can provide. Thanks.
  15. Pedroia already spoke out about that one. The only people who were happy when Bobby V got the gig in Boston were the sports writers.
  16. Funny. I am a telecommunications engineer, with an MBA, working in telecommunications for a large financial services firm. My job is moving to The Raleigh area at the end of 2013. Not sure if I will move yet, but I have been looking at homes down there. It is amazing what we could buy down there for the same $, or less, as what we have here!
  17. That's a good looking Camaro 2 posts up...looks liquid in places. I tried to talk myself outside to use the stuff I got at the Nashua clinic yesterday...but it was too cold and I was too lazy. Maybe I should consider moving to a warmer climate?
  18. Headed north in a 1/2 hour or so. Took inventory yesterday and have a pretty good list going.
  19. My 13 year old daughter towers over her mother....which I find funny. They were the same size when the kid was 11. My younger daughter seems to be a smallish type person like my wife. Some days it does not go by quickly enough....but most days it goes by too fast! My day today was spent taking inventory and creating a list of things I need to pick up @ the clinic in NH tomorrow! Detailing weather is almost upon us in Boston!
  20. Don't ever move to New England then.....especially not close to Boston. I'm less than 10 miles into Boston. My job is moving to the Research Triangle Park in Raleigh, NC next year. I checked out houses for comparison sake. $350k down there and you are styling. $350k here and you get a spider shack that needs $100k worth of work. It's all relative I guess.
  21. I started out with this last year: ...and made it into this: Added a master suite on the 2nd floor as well as a laundry room and 1/2 bath on the first floor. Now the only vehicle that will fit in the garage is a Mini...
  22. Ultra is not beer. Poor guy doesn't know what he's missing!
