  1. Thanks again to both of you. I think I'll call the Disk Warrior folks tomorrow and go from there. I'm just worried about the logistics....as far as repairing one drive and then getting it over to the other. I'll figure it out.
  2. Thanks Rich and Junkman. I think I may have incorrectly described my issue. The drive will start up....the OS just won't run. I booted the machine up with one of the install discs and was able to run Apple's Disk Utility. I was able to "verify" the volume. When I went to do the "repair" there were 2 critical errors....1 was repaired and one wasn't. I read a bunch about the DiskWarrior on the Apple forums, which are great. Later in the afternoon I went to the Apple store with the intent of plunking down $99 and was told I might want to try getting a "dongle" that is essentially a cable that I can hook the hard drive in question up to my new computer via USB. I saw them on Newegg.com...and I may try that. I also think I may give the DiskWarrior folks a call tomorrow. If I can get all my stuff back for $99 and spend a few hours doing it then I would be very happy. My next purchase is a 1TB external drive...
  3. Thanks Junkman. That is what I belive I have. The drive still fires up....it just doesn't do much.
  4. After 5 years of faithful service my MAC Mini went belly up this past week. The machine will not boot up at all. I took it to the "Genius" Bar @ the local Apple store and they told me the hard drive was bad, which I kind of figured. I bought a new MAC Mini and was able to get that up and running within minutes. Considering the price of the repair, how old the machine is, and how much new ones are it made sense to go new. The good news is that I recently backup up my iPhoto library onto DVD and have all my music spread across 3 iPods. I was able to import my photos from the DVD back up and was able to import my music, after buying a piece of software for $19.99, on to the new machine. There are still a few things that I would like to get off the old drive if at all possible. I have been scouring the web, as well as the Apple forums, but don't really have anything conclusive for this situation. Does anyone know of a way to retrieve data off a bad MAC hard drive? There are numerous software packages out there, almost too many, and I don't have any experience with this type of work. Any advice/assistance would be greatly appreciated.
  5. P.S. Bill.....I told you they have more than Subaru's in Alaska! Nice job, again Taig!
  6. Get some of that new glass cleaner, if you haven't already, and you'll feel like you hit the Adam's trifecta! (http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/trifecta) In addition to being a spectacular glass cleaner it smells divine.
  7. I love that beer! We can't get it here in Boston. The only time I normally get to drink it is when I am in Myrtle Beach for golf.
  8. Good news Bill. Training camp(s) start soon so you and Ozzy will have plenty of NFL Network and ESPN whilst he heals up.
  9. It seems that the detailing "gods" have smiled on us once again. 2009 has brought us the following, ranked in my order of favorites: 1. Green Wheel Cleaner and the Boulder Blonde Boars Hair brush. I don't know if it's the cleaner, the brush, or just the combination but this is a spectacular one two punch. 2. The new glass cleaner and glass microfiber. Again, I'm not sure which product is the superstar out of this combo....doesn't matter as I plan to use them both together all the time. I have to admint I wasn't wild about the previous glass cleaner. I will be ordering a gallon of this stuff on my next order. 3. Americana, cool new applicator, and the white microfiber. While I have rated this last out of the 3 it is still specatcular. It is truly a good old fashioned paste wax and I love that. The depth of shine that this jar provides is second to none in my opinion. I still have a place in my line up for the Buttery Wax and the Machine Superwax... and I love the dual nap design of the white microfiber. I wonder what Adam and the gang have planned for the rest of the year?!?
  10. That would certainly be nice Bill. But I'd like to see it with smoke pouring out of those rear wheel wells during a nice burnout! That thing certainly qualifies for Bad A$$! That engine compartment looks surgical. Good luck with that.
  11. I got that one @ Dick's Sporting goods. It's a basic Yakima hitch mount 4 bike carrier. They have a bunch of different offerings that are reasonably priced and well built. Check them out here: http://www.yakima.com/racks/bike/
  12. You mean like this one? That was taken at your house a few weeks back. I bet that moose can't come close to fitting under that chair now! I have something that I will be entering....but not that. They are not technically cars. Thanks Rich!
  13. My wife's last vehicle had a 2 inch hitch receiver on it that we used to use with a bike rack. Her new vehicle didn't have one before today. I got the hitch based on the recommendation of a co-worker. I can't say enough about http://www.etrailer.com. The prices were fair, communication was good, and shipping was quicker than I had expected. Their website even had a video of the installation process, but they did it on a lift. I decided to call a local truck place and ask how much they would charge. I knew I could have gotten it on, but 45 minutes sitting and $45 later the hitch was installed by the nice folks @ Yankee Customs. Check it out: Plenty of room for 4 bikes: Now if the sun would come out I'd be down the beach riding....after I washed the cars! Happy 4th of July to all.
  14. I saw another post on this...once you use this stuff you will be off the fence for sure. I was a little hesitant too....but it is well worth it.
  15. Yeah, that was a lot of fun. Who wouldn't want to be on a 9 hour conference call with a bunch of clowns in Israel?!? :willy: I'll use my overtime pay for some more stuff I don't really need. The good news is that my trailer hitch will be here today, I have the next 5 days off of work, and my wife an kids are out of town!
  16. No doubt. I got a foam gun for Father's Day and have not been able to use it yet. I have also had to pump water out of my pool so it does not overflow. The weather has to turn soon....my wife and kids are out of town. I could be outside detailing for days and nobody would bust my chops.
  17. I placed an order for a few things this afternoon and already have the shipping confirmation/tracking # and should have my stuff on 7/7. It used to take what seemed like forever (I'm not the most patient man) for me to get my stuff from Adam's. Granted UPS Ground isn't the most speedy way to go coast to coast. It's nice to see an order leave the warehouse so quickly. Now if it would just stop raining in Boston I'd be all set.
  18. I love VRT....but don't use that or anything else on the tires.
  19. It's a dual edged sword as you can imagine!
  20. I did that a few weeks ago with my wife and kids...plus I work with him so I have opportunity to annoy him pretty much any time.
  21. I didn't even notice it today. Once I dropped my wife and 2 daughters off at the airport the sun came out, the birds were chirping, dogs and cats were getting along....:lolsmack: I don't know what I'll do for the next 17 days with out them! I'll figure something out.
