  1. Matt, Great write up. I am pretty new to Adam's myself, and you really nailed how exciting it is to use these product for the first time. After about a year of using the basics (shampoo, detail spray, glass cleaner, APC, etc), I took the plunge on the Flex (which I bought with the "old" three step polish system). I did my first full correction on my 2003 Porsche Boxster S last weekend, and was amazed. And tired. I worked on it for about 8 hours over two days and was whipped! Have fun with it, and keep contributing to the Forums! Cheers Todd
  2. I would add that the attention to detail with the packing from Adam's is first rate. From the quality of the boxes and the way they tape the seams, I have never seen a company put so much effort into the packaging.
  3. Mook - Outstanding! I got a good laugh about the engine part. I drive an '03 Boxster S (Dark Teal Metallic), so can relate. I got into Adam's when I got the Porsche last year. I just machine polished my wife'd DD with the Flex (my first time doing ANY machine polishing). I think I am ready to move on to the Porsche. Any tips on polishing this partuicular make/model? Was that an '03 you worked on - looks identical to mine, but I have different wheels. Your write-ups are always top-notch. Thank you! Toddimac

  5. Great work! Can you break down the process? Steps, products, etc.? Thanks! Toddimac
  6. I just wanted to thank you for not spelling it "shammy". cheers:bow:
  7. My Dad's 1974 Peugeot @#$%mobile. That thing was red, horribly oxidized. One-bucket wash, dish soap, old sock as wash mitt, dried with natural chamois. No wax. Later, we had a 1977 Volvo wagon. That is the first car I waxed, probably Turtle wax - do not remember. Then I started washing and waxing neighbors cars. The worst was a neighbor with an old Chevy wagon. He smoked stogies in that thing, and the nicotine was just oozing off the seats, which I cleaned with 409. Later, we had a 1974 Benz 240D, and that was when I first started using dealer-purchased products like Klasse and things like "#7" chrome polish. That car had a ton of chrome on it. Great thread!

    Adam's urge

Now that, my friend, is doing it right!

    Adam's urge

Simple answer: yes. Related: I have a strategy to split this year's bonus money with the wife (well, I do that anyway), by giving her a card with cash. I plan on following this up a few days later with a substantial Adam's purchase. I learned this from a buddy who restored Porsches and his wife loved Tiffany Lamps. Before he needed to do a large parts buy, he would get her a lamp. Far enough in advance so as not to arouse suspicions, of course. Allright gang - fess up if anyone else has done this!
  10. That is where it started for me, too. From there, it was on to All Purpose Cleaner, Glass Cleaner, Shampoo, Waterless Wash, Invisible Undercarriage Spray, SVRT, etc. etc. Gallons are the way to go. Enjoy!

    Really?

CNN Video - Breaking News Videos from CNN.com Really?
  12. That is @#$%in' rad. Awesome.
  13. Bada boom, bada bing. That's Right! And, thank you for your service.
  14. Stellar work. Very unique. Very cool.
  15. Awesome job, and you gotta love the "Urban Detailing" action photos! I also "do it in the street", just not in quite as cool a setting. cheers
  16. Uh oh, now you will need green waterless wash towels. Dylan?
  17. Nice! I like the idea. My original post really got a lot more mileage than I thought it would. Good to hear from everyone. I feel like less of a chump every day.
  18. Nice Job Man! Great pics - cool reflections of the landscape.
  19. Great idea. Based on your response, and that of others, I may need to have a second non-Adam's "steath" wash kit! Maybe use old kithcen towels for drying!
  20. Thanks Rich - I may take you up on your offer. I want to get into machine polishing, but would like some actual hand-on expereince watching someone else do it before I make the jump.
  21. Hi All: A little background first: 1. I live on a street where most of the houses do not have garages. 2. Most of the people on my street don't give a @#$% about their cars. 3. I do give a @#$% about my cars, hence my use of Adam's and my presence on this forum. So, my question is: Am I a chump? Most of the time when I am out washing my cars, my neighbors will drive by in their dirt-encrusted cars (for example, an Audi A-6, nice, but neglected) with horribly dirty wheels etc. and ask "Hey, will you wash mine too?" I always say: park it here and leave the keys - I will bring it back later. I find it impossible to dial back my wash routine, so they get full wheel cleaning with APC, turbo stick, etc. Foam bath, two-bucket wash, dry with Detail Spray and GWMF. Dress tires/trim with SVRT. Don't usually touch the interior. Return car to their house looking better than ever. They might drop a six pack by later. So, I am sure they think their cars look great, but have no clue about the awesomesness of the Adam's line, nor the investment required. Am I a chump? Discuss...
  22. Howdy All: I picked up a pair of the blue 4" FOCUS metal polishing pads, and since it was too cold to work on the cars, I decided to go to town on our toaster. That's right. It is some fancy euro-made unit that has a nice stainless and aluminum housing. Used metal polish #1 and #2, and the thing came out looking amazing. I have gone through a couple of rounds of trying to clean the pads with APC and water. They are still pretty dirty. My question is: do I care? It would be nice to having them all nice and blue again, but do they really need to be?
  23. Very nicely done! I used to have a 1976 240D. I still miss that car. It was about the slowest thing on the road, but it had that old Benz magic about it. Selling it was one of the dumbest things I have done in life. And I have done many dumb things. Again, great job!
  24. I see from your post you are a fellow axeman. Ever use any Adam's products on your axes? I used Revive Hand Polish and Buttery Wax on my PRS - absolutely killer! Cheers Todd
