  1. watch the adams video on washing and claying, they make it easy to understand and follow.
  2. No, it's a rather slow process but it is the most enjoyable (at least to me) What I would recommend is doing a test spot. In other words get a 2 x 2 area on the paint absolutely perfect and scratch free. Then when you have found out what it takes to get a test spot perfect, go ahead and do whatever you did to the rest of the car.
  3. Congrats on your first detail!! The one thing that stood out to me was that you did the two step polish in two hours and you think you can shorten the time. I have to wonder how fast are you moving your buffer? That may be why you are able to finish so fast as well as not getting the perfect results you were aiming for. When I correct paint, I find you get the best results the slower you move the buffer. Just the two step process on the paint can take me six hours.
  4. silver. If you're getting aftermarket wheels, one thing you might be looking for is separating yourself from the crowd. But just about everyone, their mother, and their mother's mother has "black on black." It's almost like you would buy something aftermarket and look a lot more like everyone else on the road lol. Go silver: classy and you won't feel nauseated of the look after 6 months.
  5. As I said on another forum: It should not take him a month to get a car perfect. That's just stupid. Even more stupid are his three customers a year.
  6. that is crow's feet. unfortunately, the only recourse is a repaint. No polishing should be done on that or you will make it worse.
  7. ahahaha, I literally LOL'd. Like literally.
  8. hold on a second... you did that to your own door?!? Or do you just have a panel laying around for testing?
  9. That is some great work!!! Truly spectacular! I'm wondering if you thought about wetsanding it to 3000? Given how much time it was taking, I think it may have been faster than the rotary with M105 if you buffed out 3000 grit rather than 2000 grit.
  10. Now that it's been a while, how are you guys liking the new forum? IMO, it's a huge upgrade over the old one, but the color scheme is still messing with me. I liked the black better. Overall though, I'm really digging it How about you?
  11. using someone's ID? What kind of idiot would allow another idiot to use his ID to PM people about other products lol. If you want to find other products, it's just a simple google search away. My guess is that he is just BSing. In the case I'm guessing wrong, I say BAN THEM BOTH! I've not always seen eye to eye with Adam's detailing policies, but I can respect a clean forum to learn, ask questions, and share your experiences.
  12. Good to hear, and welcome to the forums! One thing I would recommend is to wash your microfibers before using them.
  13. looking sexy and dripping wet paint!
  14. From what I understand, if silicone is on a car pre-paint, it can cause fisheyes. Also silicone in waxes and sealants don't allow fresh paint to outgas properly, which can also cause issues. Painting is not my forte so this is only what I think I know.
  15. I found it odd that he never had trouble finishing down on soft paint with a rotary. And then when I asked how he dealt with soft paint, he said he didn't know what I was talking about and started to give me advice. Nothing wrong about hearing advice as we can all get better, but when someone doesn't know what soft paint is and is giving me advice, my red flag goes up lmao!
  16. well I've been off for a while, so I saw his entry into this forum, but man looks like I missed out on a lot! Didn't know who you were talking about until we got that understanding certain members comment. priceless
  17. Thanks guys for the info, hopefully an Adam's rep sees this now and gives us an official answer, but if not I'll PM someone. Dylan, Nick, Mook, anyone? New polishes = body shop safe?
