How To Clean Buffer Pads and Grit Guard Pad Washer Review
ihaveacamaro replied to ihaveacamaro's question in Paint Correction & Polishing
Mike, you know I have plenty of products and polishes and other things and this method has worked for me time after time. I think you will be pleasantly surprised Pretty much sums up 9 minutes of video into one sentence lol! When you're doing multiple corrections in one day, the last thing you want to do is work to clean your pads for tomorrow. Obviously, you can do it by hand, but in my experience, I would not call it fast or easy at all. -

Not to worry about that, out of all the products I've used from Adam's, I think the Americana is the best. It gets applied to a lot of cars -

Adam's Americana Review
ihaveacamaro replied to ihaveacamaro's question in Exterior Protection & Enhancement
Oh wow! And here I have been cleaning and drying the applicator and sticking it right back into the container lol! I did not notice any contamination or mildew however. As for the recommended method, I have done it out of sunlight in an enclosed garage as well and I found it tends to dust more when you remove it if you wait rather than the Wipe On Wipe Off method. Regardless of the sun condition, I prefer to take the wax off quickly. But of course, this was done in Florida so maybe that has something to do with it. Thanks for the additional info and notes Dylan P.S. Eucalyptus... stupid trees with their hard to remember names -
A video review is in the link, and hopefully another episode of Just Half A Test with Adam's Americana as the test wax will be up soon

How To Clean Buffer Pads and Grit Guard Pad Washer Review
ihaveacamaro replied to ihaveacamaro's question in Paint Correction & Polishing
What I meant is that in comparison to other APCs that are able to dilute up 1:10, I find that diluting Adam's APC at 1:2 or any more for this specific purpose hinders the effectiveness more than I like. I would rather just use it straight or 1:1 in that case. I've said many times that I love Adam's APC, just wish it was more dilutable! Of course, you guys are targeting people who want easy to use and effective stuff rather than cost efficient and effective, so I do understand what it's all about, but I still can't just help to wish that it was more dilutable! Adam's needs a pro line for people like me who want to dilute and play around!! -

Opti-Coat
ihaveacamaro replied to J.greenroyd's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
Dylan, I have it on my car and it is being polished off since I miss waxing. So yeah it definitely does have its pros and cons. But with that said, I wouldn't call it a "Flavor of the Month." Considering it's been out since 2006 and the consumer version has been out since 2009 and it's pretty much the bar to beat when it comes to coatings, I'd call it pretty much a standard now. -
From what you are saying, I don't think they are scratches but rather impressions. This is my logic: Pads are wet and are drying, thus they are soft. They are soft and lying on grit guard. Plastic of grit guard pushes into pad causing impression. Pad dries with compressed spots. Voila, scratched up looking pads, but actually only impressions.

Sorry maybe I didn't make myself clear. You have been one of the biggest pro-rotary people on this forum I've seen. How do you know you're not creating holograms? Do you work on soft paint cars? I can put similar things to holograms in soft paint with a DA. For you to not put holograms into soft paint with a rotary... well I'd have to see it to believe it.

What do you do when you are correcting paint and you have super soft sticky paint?

Adams Quick Sealant Durability
ihaveacamaro replied to Chewy's question in Exterior Protection & Enhancement
This is kind of the problem. Clean paint will bead on certain cars/paint systems. However, from how the water rolls off the paint in this video it looks to not be the same as simple beading. It certainly seems like the car had some protection/hydrophobic characteristics to it. On the other hand though, it was being shot at with a lot of pressure and the water is rolling in the direction of the pressure. Not saying that AQS did or didn't last that long, but just another thing to note about the water rolling off.- 9 replies

Tried a competitors wash today...
ihaveacamaro replied to jimboman's question in Washing, Drying, and Decontamination
That is an interesting statement. It seems like you tried the other products with a mindset that they were going to be bad. Almost like a self-fulfilling prophecy. I've used what you're talking about and Adam's Glass Cleaner and the performance is near identical, in my opinion. -
Always clay before wax?
ihaveacamaro replied to ericR's question in Exterior Protection & Enhancement
clay only when you have to. To figure out if you need to clay, use the baggie test. Take a sandwich bag, put your hand in it, and lightly run over the surace of your car. If you feel bumpy paint, it needs to be clayed. Claying after 2 weeks is most likely not necessary, if claying the first time around was done properly -
When I send a PM to someone and they respond, I'm not allowed to respond back for some reason. 3 times now I had to make a whole new "conversation" to respond and I have not reached my PM quota. Anything I'm doing wrong?
