DETAILED: Mercedes E55 AMG

Team Adam's

Recommended Posts

This car belongs to the girlfriend of a good friend of mine, recently purchased used and got typical bad dealer prep. Plus, my friend and his girl aren't necessarily too good at keeping their rides clean - good thing they know me :D

BEFORE:

As you can see the interior was fairly nasty, the exterior showed the usual symptoms of improper care - brake dust caked wheels, hazy, dull paint.

AFTER:

I got jipped on this one, the original plan was to perform a 100% correction as the paint definitely needed it, but I had to settle for just 1 pass of FMP as the weather didn't cooperate. Fast moving clouds and 2-5 minute showers followed by sun, then rain again really started during claying and I never could make much headway. Thats why I opted to 1 step the polish with a rotary instead of 2 stepping with with flex for more correction.

On a side note, my neighbors are probably thinking I lost it as I'm washing and polishing a car in between rain showers.

End result was good, but this one will be coming back for another round. Interior came out awesome, exterior now has protection and nice gloss, but needs another pass or 2 to correct the swirls.

Of the entire detail I think I'm most happy with the wheels and how they came out. Thanks for reading.

Looks great. I'd de-badge that bad Larry so as to catch a few folks off guard.

^^ "bad Larry" ??? Let me in on the lingo!!!

And daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaang Dylan!!! I've always been a fan of that particular model of E55. NICE work man. Thing looks like it SHOULD now. Always kills me how people let pieces of art turn to trash. Your friends are lucky to have you around.

That looks great Dylan, I was wondering how you get those nice stripes in the carpet?

I know the carpet brush can do it, but your lines are really defined and straight. Just wondering if you use a special technique?

Also, I believe you said in the past you use a Bissel Little Green Machine (as do I), but I'm not really pleased with its suction ability. I'm thinking about investing in a Mytee Lite Hot Water Extractor like this: Mytee Lite 11 8070 Heated Extractor Auto Detailing Equipment

Your thoughts?

Love that car :)

On mine I used brilliant glaze on the wood trim it really glossed it up. A quick swipe with the tip.of an Americana app and wipe. I was super impressed.

I also used the BG on the navigation screen with good results. Ill try quick sealant next time. That nav screen is not a touch screen so there's no need to get fingerprints on it just fyi.

Interesting how you used IOS on the dash? Never thought of that.

GREAT job Dylan! Especially on the wheels they look out of the package new!
