JBlack151
1958 Chevy Impala The Labor Day weekend detailing madness continued with a beautiful 1958 Impala with Continental Kit. Now don’t be thrown off by the color of this car. When I first saw the car in the evening it was red. When I arrived on Saturday morning at 6:00 am and found the car sitting in the sunrise it was orange. When the sun isn’t out or it’s in the garage it is definitely red. Not sure too much about the history of the car. The odometer shows 5,700 miles, and when I asked my client about it, he wasn’t sure if those were original, but most likely not. The paint was in really good condition when I did my first inspection outside. Very minimal swirls if any at all. However I was able to discover some on the trunk and hood where it curves down during the wash. All the trim had wax build up along them and the whitewall tires needed a good cleaning. There was so much wax on this thing I decided to give it another 2 Bucket Wash with APC to make sure all the prior waxes were minimal if anything. When I began claying the car I could feel tons of contaminants being removed. After first inspection of the clay bar I found a pinkish color overspray. This continued on most of the entire panels of the car. I couldn’t believe there was that much wax built up on top of all that overspray. The interior on this thing was capital S.W.E.E.T. The dashboard and other painted pieces needed a good polishing. For this I used some Swirl & Haze Remover with the Orange Hex Grip Applicator then followed it up with some Revive and coats Brilliant Glaze. Revive was a great help with a lot of the other areas that needed, well…..Reviving! The engine bay was next on the list to shine up. Again Revive and Brilliant Glaze were the best at bringing everything that was painted back to an awesome shine. I touched the rest of the engine up with some In & Out Spray and SVRT. Redbeard
What a beautiful automobile! And I just learned something: I didn't realize they used the Impala name on that model (I thought it started with the '59 body style). Also, is that a 2000-ish CVO Wide Glide, aka "Switchblade," in the background?
