Priming pads

I'm curious how you guys prime pads, do you prime like Adam in all the videos with 3 blobs and is there a benefit to this? Or do you go in a circle like everyone else?

I prime the whole face of my pads with compound or polish, whatever I'm using at the time.

Same. Initially spread a super thin layer of the product across the whole face. Massage it into the pad so it doesn't build up and sling.

I follow Adam's example (I'm new to this, so following I figure following a master's example is good enough for me!) and use a few globs, as well as a couple sprays of DS for some lubrication. I then place the pad on the car, spread it around so it doesn't sling, and go to work. Adding too much product to the pad can clog it up, causing loss of cutting/polishing power. I keep either a pad brush or extra pads on hand.

Same style here, but with craft (popsicle) sticks:
