Vertically Challenged..

I've got probably the dumbest question to ask. What is the simplest way to reach the top of cars and especially vans? This area is difficult to reach, at least for me anyway. Do you all use step ladders? or is there something better??? Thanks for any advice you may have...

I'm not short so for cars I'm good;). For trucks I stand in the bed and for vans a solid 3 step stool works great.

I actually have a little giant ladder... it collapses into all manner of forms, but I use it as a scaffolding all the time... its perfect for washing taller vehicles.

Step stool is best IMO as well. Just be VERY careful.

I used a step ladder and I also have a wooden stool. The wooden stool is best because it doesn't get slippery when wet.

If you've got the fender clearance to get that over the tire then why not just stand on the tire?

I got mine at Home Depot 2-3 years ago. I don't know if they still have them.I looked on thier site but didn't see them.

I have a little 2-step stool I bought at home depot.

 

I like that platform, it looks wide enough to reach the entire roof of the blazer without moving.

Chris, I now remember seeing a stand very similar to that on one of the paint shop supply sites that I go to. I especially like the elevated platform. I am going to look around the paint shop supply sites and try to find these again.

When I did the work Van, I used a 6 foot step ladder. It was stable, but having to get down, move it, climb up, get down move it. That got old. I'm thinking a unit like Chris listed above would be great.
