G8 seats?

whiterp199

Question

Do they ever stop soaking up leather conditioner? I keep putting it on and in two days they look all dried out again. Am I fighting a lost cause or did they just dry out that much while it sat on the dealer lot. They were born over a year before I got any of Adams conditioner on them. They seem to be much softer now, but they still look dry in a couple days. I have put a whole bottle into them since December.

I would wait til tomorrow and then go back over the seats with the red pad on any areas of the leather that look like they are splotchy. I had to do this a couple of times after applying by hand so that everything looked evened out. It's easy, after the first couple applications you will get used to it. Dont be scared to coat some areas with a good coat of the stuff. The more saturated I get the red applicator the better the dash and door panels and stuff seem to look.

I was scared to use too much on the dash and the doors cause I didn't see how it would "soak in" and I didn't want to leave it looking wet or feel greasy to the touch. I'll try adding more to those areas when I go back over it today

Ok, so here's my ride. 09 G8 GT in Magnetic Grey Metallic. Washed her today but gave her one coat of buttery 2 weeks ago.

Onto the interior. I have no "before" pics, but mine looked just like Zeus'. Dry and grey and nasty.

All the interior pics were after only one coat. So while it's not even close to being "there" yet, it's a DRASTIC improvement over what it was at this time yesterday.

Turned out nice!! That Leather Conditioner kinda changes the whole look of the interior on these cars doesn't it?

It totally does, looks like a whole new car. Mine's nowhere near as nice as yours yet but It'll get there by the end of this bottle I'm sure

Definitely you will. I've been using the Leather Conditioner since last August, and I'm still only on my second bottle and I use it religiously. It goes a long ways once you have that good coat on there. After that it only takes a little bit to keep it looking fresh all the time.

I just got my interior kit last week and tackled the job today. The G8 seats just suck up conditioner. They look pretty good for a first time, but I have to agree with everyone who's posted here that it will take a couple good applications for them to be the way I want them. Great products (as they all are) and great information from everyone. Thanks - Mike

'Roo hides - :jester:

I never would have thought leather seats good smell so sinfully good (kinda like PORN) I have done 4 applications of Leather Conditioner on my G8 and they are still soaking it up like the dust bowl during the depression. Here are some pics - definitely a work in progress. I'll keep working on them and will probably need a replacement order soon. BTW - first posted pic - thanks Junkman

That very first interior looks fantastic. I have the red and black and I can't wait to see how mine will look with some TLC.

Post up some pics when you get it done. I do not think there have been any onyx/red interior pics on here yet.

Here you go! (Ha JPEGXP, I win!)

Quite a difference isn't it? And that was with just one coat (I had to beat JPEGXP you know). I'm very pleased. Now I need to order me the Super VRT Kit and something else over $10.

Man they look really good with the conditioner. That makes me want the red interior more. Oh well!

Thank you. I'm looking forward to finishing the first shot of conditioner on the interior tonight.

When I was looking at G8s, I thought the red would be more orange (turns out red is hard to photograph), but I didn't like the idea of an all black interior. I bought this one used, and when I first opened the door, I fell in love with the red and black (even if the condition wasn't great!). If I had been able to get the same blue you have with red and black, I might have done that! I love my red, but that blue is a great shade.

Oh yeah, and I did it by hand, but I put a surgical glove on (I keep them for cooking, like with raw chicken). Worked great. Warmed it up nicely but didn't leave my right hand smelling like the conditioner!

So do you guys use leather conditioner on top of the dashboard also? I’ve had my G8 GT since January and haven’t applied anything to the dash.

thanks...

Yup! Slap it on and enjoy a greaseless shine and lots-o UV Protection!

Well that settles it, I need to get some REAL leather conditioner--all of your interiors look fantastic! Mine is a 1-1/2 year old with only 7500 miles so I thought it was clean and spiffy till I saw these, now I'm embarassed. Time for Adam's order #2 in as many weeks...:)

Bob, as the previous pictures attest to you won't be dissappointed! There's almost a half a bottle of this stuff inside my Goat since January 1  A few areas (plastic panels in the rear) seemed to have, and hold, more of a shine than anywhere else. I knocked down the gloss with a microfiber towel.
