Some new tires look like that, I think it is dried release agent, to get tires out of the mold.

Nope. This was the white, greasy crap they used to seal the tires to the wheels. Smeared all over every tire and every wheel.  Looked bad.

They didn't even TRY to clean it up.

I've had new tires before.  This was beyond the pale.

Oh ok, Euro tire lube. Takes real talent to get it all over the sidewall. Its very thick and needs to be painted on with a stiff brush.

Looks much better!  It also looks like you've got the black Camaro emblems on the fender.  I've thought about getting those for mine to go with my black stripes, but haven't pulled the trigger on them yet.  They look great on yours!

Thanks.  I'm not a big fan of chrome on this car so I got rid of as much as I could.  Replaced the text on the fenders, removed the front bow-tie, and painted the tail-light bezels. The only chrome I still have is on the rear bowtie.  Since I can't remove it because it would leave holes I blacked out the gold insert of the rear-bowtie - but I haven't come up with a good solution to cover the chrome.
