foam gun or not, help the rookie out

Question

ok bout to make my first purchase, trying to get most bang for my buck. was wondering if using the foam gun makes a big difference washing care.  if you have used with and without would help a lot.  if I don't get foam gun would save a lot of money and get better and bigger kits.  is using a foam gun that much safer for care?  also the 2 bucket method and prove it makes a big difference? thanks for helping a brother out in advance.

You probably have ordered by now, yet here is my viewpoint. Two bucket wash is essential. Foam gun is nice...Foam cannon is even better if you have a pressure washer. I actually have three buckets, as use one for tires/rims exclusively. Then the other two for the body. The purpose of your foam gun/cannon is to lay down your soap layer to help keep lubrication on there to prevent dirt/debris scratching, but you still do a two bucket wash. Another tip to prevent swirls/scratches is do not wash in a circular motion...move your towel or sponge only horizontally....preferably one direction..any minut scratches then optically are less visible.

I guess I'm in the minority here.  I do have a three bucket system like the previous poster, but I don't do two-bucket washes very often.  I typically use a foam gun and wash pad.  I pre-soak the car with foam, then rather than using a soap bucket, I just spray foam into the pad as I'm washing the car.  It takes a little coordination, but I feel like I get a better wash that way.

I have both the cannon and gun. The cannon is cool for sure but for simplicity of use and washing. I like the gun better. No need to drag out the power washer and change tips when using the gun. I do think it's worth spending the extra money and getting the premium gun. Mostly because I tend to drop the hose nozzle when I'm done and I don't know how the standard plastic nozzle would handle it. I believe they both work equally well. The two bucket system is great, however I don't use it. If my Jeep or MDX were really dirty I probably would but I'm always cleaning them so a good rinse, foaming them wash with a mitt in a bucket with a grit guard works great for me. Good luck and welcome to the addiction.

Two bucket (or three) is a must. If you choose the foam gun route might as well get the premium instead of the cheap plastic one. Once you’re there, you’re already set back $100 that could have been on product. Really it’s up to you and what wash technique you prefer.
