Polishing original paint 1971 Mustang
07stanggt replied to DCHP4D's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
You can, but be careful. Original means just that, it ain't comin back !! No clear coat means no extra protection between your pad/polish and the paint so go slow. If you take your time it will come out great ! Here are some pics of 2 rare cars I did that were trashed, all original paint, the Mustang was in a storage container for 12 years before it saw the light of day ! All Adams products used to perfect these beauties ! -
I will also chime in and say that's way to much wax coming out of the applicator. As mentioned above, I also use Dawn and or Adams All Purpose Cleaner and HOT water as it will break down the used products faster.

For $100 keep it for smaller pads etc like mentioned above. I have 2 PC's and a Flex. So nice not have to take backing plates off all the time.

Shout out to all Adams dealers !!

steamer or portable carpet cleaner
07stanggt replied to SSilver07's question in Interior Cleaning & Care
I cant remember exactly but I think it was a product called "Awesome" that I bought. I love Adams All Purpose Cleaner but I did 5 of these vans for a guy and the Adams got a little pricey for the amount needed/used. The doors, lower trim, panels, etc. were finished off with Adams Total Interior Detailer, tires with VRT, outside done with H20 Guard and Gloss, Brilliant Glaze, Buttery Wax. -
steamer or portable carpet cleaner

Huh, I think the Bissell does a great job. Here's a before and after shot using Adams carpet and Upholstery Cleaner, a brush, and a Bissell. Not that an extractor wouldnt be nice but for the money....... -
I don't think that's actually a problem !!

This is the method I use on my customers and my own W Techs. Adams All Purpose cleaner or S Green, let it sit on the mats for 5 minutes, either scrub with heavy duty brush or power wash (be careful not to pull up the WT logo), dry with a Master Blaster, then I use Adams Total Interior Detailer to give it that nice clean crisp look. Works every time.

I know what you mean about that. My wife drive the Shelby once and that was enough for her. 750 hp scares the hell out of a lot of people !!
-
No, been there done that ! I wouldn't trade my present wife of 18 + years for anything ! Well maybe for some Adams...... LOL
-
Hey Dan, my wife threw away my new Patriots wax, 3 bottles of Brilliant Glaze, a bottle of detail spray, all of my 2 step paint correction bottles, all of my towels (including glass ones), and oh ya, my new swirl killer machine. Anyway you can hook me up ?? LOLOLOL!! Awesome customer service guys !!

Detailing advice......family & friends
07stanggt replied to chops1sc's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
Definitely a discount for family but more of a "I did this for you at no charge" or " I did your interior for free" type stuff. I feel everyone I detail for is a friend of mine or a referral, and they all know how much work it is so all are treated fairly. I haven't had anyone say "that was to much", most say, I don't charge enough ! -

Hit your orange box store for a Ryobi 1600 psi power washer. Very small with great power and results. Sits on the ground so it wont tip over . Had mine for 3 years now with no issues and it get a lot of use. $119.00 ! -
Look at it this way, you could have blown money on flowers and a card, but instead you treaded yourself. Sounds like a win win for you !!

Try Adams Carpet and Interior cleaner, works awesome !! -
Kinda makes me laugh all the way to the bank. Unfortunately there are a lot of "detailers" out there that think there real detailers. At first my neighbor used to say " you better stop washing that car, the paints going to come off" and they have had the same issue as you mentioned. He and his wife now have their cars detailed by me !!
