  1. I PMed you. I must respect the rules of the forum by not mentioning competing brands in threads.
  2. Looking forward to your feedback. I was never a fan of SVRT which is why I don't own it anymore.
  3. How long are you letting VRT sit on the tire before you wipe it down? I was going to mention that new tires have a mold wax that is released until the tires are broken in for a few hundred miles. But seeing as the tires have about 35K miles on them that is not the issue. It is possible that the cleaner you are using is causing you issues and drying out the rubber too much. Try cleaning the tire with something like Adams Tire & Rubber Cleaner and a tire brush. Let the tire dry. A metro blaster sidekick comes in handy to get this done quicker. Apply one coat and let that sit for about 15-20 min. Wipe down the tire and apply another coat and let that sit for another 15-20 min. Then come back and wipedown the tire just a bit to remove any excess product. This should allow the tire to absorb the VRT. If you have a metro blaster sidekick you could blow air onto the tire to spread out the product into the crevices and speed up the drying process. Michelin tires are some of the hardest tires to dress. I don't own VRT anymore but this is something that can sometime happen with most water based tire gels.
  4. How long did it take you to wash the truck after taking out the pressure washer, foam cannon and buckets?
  5. Consider using H20 Guard And Gloss as your maintenance product after using liquid paint sealant. The second coat of liquid paint sealant would be just to ensure even coverage.
  6. No that is not true either. Soap is there to act a lubricant between the wash media. Suds do nothing for you. The fact that a 2 bucket wash is being done is the correct way to wash. Heck I only use one bucket when I use a foam gun. Am I doing it wrong? No indeed. The added soap from the gun is adding more lubricity between my wash media and the paint allowing the wash media to glide effortlessly. If you want to add fun to your wash get a foam gun or foam cannon. Here's another example. I was sent another manufacturers shampoo for review and it is intended to not sud. Does that mean it is not doing anything? On the other hand it is doing what it should be and that is clean the surface as well as being easier to wash off the paint without leaving any sort of soap film residue. It had the lubricity to not harm the paint. It was odd not seeing suds on the paint because we are all obsessed with suds. Here in the states we are love our suds because it makes us feel all warm and tingly inside. Overseas the shampoo's used do not form suds.
  7. No it is not. The purpose of the foam gun is to add a coat of soap to act as lubrication between your wash media. The foam cannon has no benefit other than the fun factor and coolness factor to catch the eye of passers by. It would be recommended to initially rinse all dirt from the surface using either tool.
  8. 30-90 days is the window. Contact the bodyshop and ask them. They may have baked the paint. I waited 90 days when I had my aftermarket hood painted on my Grand Prix.
  9. True. But coatings form a harder barrier that resist marring better than a sealant or wax. Not to mention better chemical and bird dropping resistance. Not all coatings require a "reloader" or special soaps. Adams shampoo works great with coatings as does guard and gloss. A coating will shed anything that is applied over it so a wax or sealant won't stay on that long. A coated vehicle will also stay cleaner a bit longer. This varies on the coating. Like anything else they do require maintenance. But that maintenance is "easier". A pressure washer doesn't completely clean or remove all dirt and grime. Just like a foam cannon doesn't really have any benefit other than the fun factor and it looks cool to those who have no idea what is being done. Not too mention that it is a hassle getting the pressure washer set up. But I digress. In the long run a coating is cheaper. My brothers Harley has black paint and it is some of the softest paint. It marrs as soon as you look at it. It didn't matter if a wax or sealant was applied. The coating I applied to it has helped with marring from washing. Same thing on a black 2002 Corvette that I worked on. It had some soft paint that would marr if not touched properly. I went with a coating for it and it has helped. I understand coatings are not for everyone. They do have their place. A sealant is still good for those that are not ready to move onto a coating.
  10. What is ample amount of soap? I fill up my bucket with 2 gallons of water. I then add 1 oz of shampoo and blast a jet of water to create suds. I end up with about 3 gallons of water. In the gun I use 3 oz of shampoo. I do measure out everything to get pretty close to exact measurements. It could also be hard water.
  11. How much soap did you use in the foam gun? That is if you know how many ounces you put into the foam gun. From your photos, it looks like you did not use enough soap in your mixture. Are you using a bucket as you wash or spraying the foam onto the mitt as you wash?
  12. Go with liquid paint sealant and maintain with guard and gloss.
  13. They do sell a pet hair brush and a stone. Some have had success wearing and using a nitrile glove as well.
  14. For your new car I would go with these two items. For long term protection add a base layer of this http://adamspolishes.com/shop/exterior/waxing-and-glazing/adam-s-liquid-paint-sealant.html Maintain with this. http://adamspolishes.com/shop/exterior/waxing-and-glazing/adam-s-h2o-guard-gloss.html Can't get any easier. A sealant will handle the climate better.
  15. With what you have this is what I would do. Exterior: 1. Wash and clean the wheels and tires 2. Wash 3. Baggie to determine if you need to clay. Clay paint and glass 4. Seal paint (Liquid Paint Sealant) and glass (Glass Sealant) 5. Dress trim and tires 6. Maintenance - Guard & Gloss, Detail Spray Interior: 1. Vacuum 2. Wipedown the leather surface and protect with leather conditioner 3. Interior detailer would come in handy for the other materials in the interior
  16. I would save Dawn for the dishes and use a strip wash or polish. I would do this as well. Another good idea.
  17. Get the Rupes LHR15 Mark II. But the G15 is a good machine as well. The Rupes has more power and runs very smooth.
  18. Coatings don't need to be topped to begin with. Guard & Gloss plays well with most coatings. Reflex is technically a sealant on steroids and not a coating. Gloss Coat can be topped with your favorite wax.
  19. The coating was put on hold. Sounds like Reflex.
  20. Next time try hitting the tires with APC to do the brunt of the work. Then follow up with a few passes of tire & rubber cleaner. It will save you a lot more product.
  21. Very true. Some of us knew this was going to happen.
  22. Also note that white is not going to pop like a darker colored vehicle. My 02 Camaro SS is white and it won't have that pop. But if you keep it clean it will have that bright look to it instead of the dingy look.
