  1. At the very least, you might think of Detail Spray as being used in the same way as the H2O G&G, in between your applications of G&G. The term I've learned here is a drying aid, i.e. after washing, spray on a still-wet panel before drying the paint. It actually does leave a really nice slickness on its own, as if just waxed.
  2. Personally I avoid wiping my eyeglasses at all, ever. The coatings and/or base lens material seem to be pretty soft and scratch-prone. I'll just rinse in a sink, suds up a tiny amount of whatever soap is there on my fingertips, and lightly go over everything. Flood rinse is very effective, any remaining drips I blot dry with a cotton or paper towel, or even a napkin. Absolutely the best results possible, zero streaking or haziness leftover, and no chance of a scratch with very little effort - with those little microfiber cloths, I can never get it perfect the first time. I use those as last resort if I'm unable to get to a sink soon enough.
  3. I'd be curious to see how it works out, if you care to share pics later on. DR Colorchip is the other option I've seen.
  4. I'd love to see this as well. I'm a bit skeptical when it comes to the grit guard... I imagine scrubbing at the bottom just stirs up the dirt/grit and does as much or more harm than good (and I know I'm not the only one). This washboard might just be enough to get me to pull the trigger on the big bad 5-gal bucket setup, though honestly I wish there was a smaller option to take up less space and use less shampoo. edit - is that a 3.5 gallon partially shown on the right hand page? Hmmm..
  5. Ah I see. Glad we cleared that up, thanks again.
  6. Ohhhh I forgot all about that connection point! I had it in my head that the trigger and wand were 1 piece on this PW. Wow, that's awesome... I was worried about the length of the wand with the MTM on the end of it too. My only confusion is what you meant by the threaded silver nut. At this point I'm still thinking that I need this male-to-male fitting to thread into the MTM, and then the adapter you linked would thread onto the other end of the fitting. In other words, the adapter has a female threaded section, right? http://www.amazon.com/Anderson-Metals-56122-Fitting-Nipple/dp/B003NXYB5Q/ref=pd_sim_328_4?ie=UTF8&dpID=51N8envtcxL&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL160_SR160%2C160_&refRID=0P359GX08MZ0QGXGTGN2 Thank you for the help Jason! edit: found a picture we can use to review: Or, does that adapter have male threads built in, looking something like this?
  7. I'm not sure I follow... are you talking about a setup for swapping the Ryobi wand for an MTM gun with the foam cannon? My wand has the quick-release tip, and the cannon came with the M22 and 1/4" quick connect adapters.
  8. Bumping this old thread because I'm in the same boat trying to get the MTM attached to my Ryobi wand. I'm not at the point where I want to buy a second wand/trigger for the cannon. Did you simply take some material from the very end of the adapter that cam with the cannon? Or did you also need to take some material from the larger OD portion?
  9. Dan, I sent an email to orders@adams about an issue with my white sidekick. Should I send you a message directly?
  10. I use the wedge on the sideskirts (very bottom of the side of the cars), where with the pad I'm bound to pick up some nasty stuff from the underside of the car. Sometimes the front bumper and grills too. I'd agree it takes more pressure to spread out the foam fingers and get the best results. That extra pressure makes me wary of using it on the upper portions of my cars - though I've read that some people use the opposite of my technique and treat the pads as being more disposable. My pad is holding up very well after a year, but I do take care in fully rinsing it to remove all dirt after use. I love it, feels slick and safe with plenty of suds and the weight of it means I can get away with zero added pressure on more horizontal surfaces. I had another brand of merino mitt before, and I think I'm just too OCD for it. I wound up combing it before every use, and it was very difficult to get it perfectly/comfortably clean with the length of the wool. In my experience with the pad, it grabs dirt just as well but rinses a lot easier. Whatever you prefer, Adams has it and I'm sure they'll set you up properly.
  11. My dad is a clean freak and always washed his cars by hand, probably for the economics of it just as much as the quality. I'm a clean freak but took it to the next level with cars, eventually working part-time as a detailer (learning how bad dealer practices can be). I got a black car and learned about what causes swirl marks, how clay works and why, and even got to practice with a rotary (!). I learned that rotary is risky overkill for most decent paint, so I picked up a PC and got into detailing on the side with a friend. I had heard of Adam's previously, about 10 years ago now, but went through the more local Detailersdomain for my first supplies purchases, sticking with OTC for things like shampoo, mitts and clay. Later I graduated and started my career, and got my first new car - in black, of course. If I'm going to obsess over the paint, I may as well get rewarded with that fabulous mirror shine, right?? In my initial effort to preserve the new finish, I researched the best value, ease of application, and quality in wax. My approach was to wax the car about every other wash, 2 times a month perhaps. Adam's Buttery was my choice, figuring that any lesser durability wouldn't be much issue with a high frequency of application. It wasn't long until I expanded to a car wash trio, also trying out detail spray and Adam's APC. I tossed my older wash mitts and relegated lesser towels to non-paint use. As I learned more about the background of his business, watched the videos, read posts from loyal followers, and came to see the level of quality from the products to the website to the bottles and labels to the shipping/packing to the scents... I was hooked. At this point there are only a couple of non-Adam's products in my arsenal, which has grown substantially in the past year.
  12. Got the white sidekick for my birthday, loving it! The flange where the feet mount is a little bent upward, causing 2 of the feet to be out of whack and pointing in. The unit works fine, would I be ill advised to try and straighten it myself? I know the white is no longer available at this point.
  13. Here's a question - why mess with it? If it were my car, I would just leave it until I could take it out and put a pressure washer to it. Building up a thicker layer of dust isn't going to do any more harm, right?
  14. 3-4 vehicles out of a bottle, even if they are SUVs or full-size trucks, sounds like way too much product being used. Just saying.
  15. I do like the white. But variety is also interesting - perhaps Adam's red could be the next logical choice if such variety is possible from the manufacturer. Edit - speaking of the manufacturer, I'm already looking for the 3' hose extension before I even have a sidekick. Perhaps Adam's could offer it as an included option? They also have a shoulder strap which could be nice too.
  16. Wow, it sold out already. Now there is a black one with the Adam's black logo on the front.
  17. I am a fan of the rinseless, and it's a bonus that you can dilute it to get a solution that acts as waterless wash. My 2 cents to anyone looking at it - definitely do not skimp on the towels. I should have gotten more towels with it, and until I stock up (seeing what Santa brings first) I'm in a position where if I have done a couple 2-bucket washes recently and not yet done a load of towel washing, I'm basically unable to properly do a complete rinseless wash. Having enough of the right towels in your supply for a truly safe (see the "garry dean wash method") rinseless session is not enough... I'd say go for at least twice that amount if you don't already have them.
  18. I'm pumped for this, very nice looking. Hoping that if it's not checked off my wish list by a kind soul, that it's still available for purchase after Christmas.
  19. I'm confused as to why people bemoan the loss of this stuff. Is H2O G&G not as good or better? $50 for a can???? Seems absolutely insane.
  20. I sent an exhaustive list to those family members who asked, plus the girlfriend. Now I have a problem... I have the urge to buy things but need to wait and see what I get! Really hoping the orange MF towels are still available. I should just place an order to get a few now, but then I have the urge to get more stuff to combine shipping.
  21. Question for you - I have a similar situation, I've arranged my products on shelves which are on the inboard wall (shared with the house) but I'm not sure if I should still relocate them indoors for the winter months. I live in southeast PA, and I believe my garage goes as low as perhaps 40F in very cold weather overnight, typically I'm guessing about 45F. Is that enough warmth? It's a finished attached garage, but the door is not insulated. I only have gallons of Detail Spray, APC, shampoo and rinseless.
  22. A machine is a good investment. I'm a lowly PC user and had success in taking a 5.5 pad to my B-pillars, they came out pretty nearly perfect.
  23. +1. No sense going back to a body shop, they (typically) aren't equipped to get the paint perfect and swirl-free.
  24. Love seeing behind the scenes stuff. I can't believe the bottles are practically labeled by hand!
