Since I just got back from Bermuda and I'm now officially part Pirate, my vote would be for a Rum scented DS.

Did a paint enhancement on this car over the weekend. I don’t think it had ever been detailed. Wash, iron decon, clay and then polished with an AIO type product and then topped off with another layer of sealant. Then dressed the tires and waxed the face of the wheels for an added touch. It made a huge difference and I removed probably 30-40% of the swirls.

Same here.  Wife has been disappointed with my last two packages (no mints) so I bought the package of mints off Amazon and have them available for those times where they don't come from Adam's.  As long as she gets her mints, she's never made any comments on my orders (size or frequency) so I see this as cheap insurance ensuring that continues.

This morning, before it got hotter than Hades, I finally took a hose and a brush to the engine bay of my Astra.  Despite all the proven fact that it’s safe, I was still a big  ?????.  Results are nice! It’s not going to win any awards, but looks better.  Found some spots I’ll need to try to get next time with a tooth brush.
Used the sidekick to blow out debris.  Covered any electrical connections I was unsure about with plastic grocery bags.  I rinsed it down, sprayed the Eco all purpose cleaner, let dwell a bit.  Then used my wheel brush and lug nut brush to agitate the cleaner.   I then did the under side if the hood. Sprayed with Eco APC, agitated with brush and rinsed everything.  Removed plastic bags,  Used sidekick to blow out the water. Used a cheap MF to wipe down some areas I couldnt get to with brush, and finished drying.  Dressed with VRT and In n Out spray.

Not sure what stained the plastic at the front.  It was there before I started cleaning.  But now it’s really noticeable.  I’ll see what the trim restorer can do later this week.

Pretty sure he meant for not having front license plates on.  In Washington it happens as well, just depends on who cares enough to stop you....and yes they can stop you here and give you a $142 ticket for no front plate...unless your car is a registered classic car or you got an exception letter from the state patrol (which they rarely give out).

Thanks for the kind words Rich. It is a huge sacrifice. My wife and I were tasked with trading the vision of our future for the futures of four kids that didn’t get a vote in their situation.  We decided that we could be okay even with doing this, where if we said no the kids most likely wouldn’t be. It’s been meetings, appointments and paperwork non stop. The process is nothing less than invasive. We are learning as we go.

Permanency hasn’t been established yet. But they are allowing us to establish primary care and education in the town that we live. That alone tells me it’s a longer term situation. The longer it goes, the less hope for reunification there is. Couple that with their parents multitude of issues, and I don’t see them going back. Should they go back, it’ll be detrimental to them. They’ll go from a nice middle class life to a life of nothing. That’s a huge concern I have.

Thanks for the advice. It’s been difficult to set aside time for us since this whole thing started. My wife and I went out to dinner once, and that was more or less necessity to talk about how far we were willing to go before talking to our daughter about it.

For now the kids are safe and enjoying a good quality of life. That’s what matters most.

Going ahead we will definitely be setting aside time for us.

@shane@detailedreflections Thank you, your wife and your daughter for providing the children with a family.  The value of having a family to lean on and nurture children during the early years cannot be taken for granted.  What the three of you are doing now will reflect in how these children grow up and behave for the rest of their lives.

I have one recommendation for you, find a way to get some quality time with your wife and daughter, especially your daughter.  The teen years can be trying and doing something as simple as getting a babysitter for the young ones and taking your wife and daughter to dinner or even out for ice cream to breath and talk will make a big difference.

Thanks, Lenore! I'm really not trying to overthink this so I might order one of those. But since the handle sticks out, that will drive my OCD a little crazy. I'll keep my suggestion on the table in the meantime, hoping for something designed to fit the whole thing snuggly.

I know I'm not the first to do this, but it was a first for me... so I thought I'd share. The far left heater control knob in my 1965 Mustang felt completely unattached to the cable that opens and closes the hinged heater box door. It's a simple, effective design requiring no electricity and I was pretty sure it would be an easy one-hour project. The thing is, getting to the heater control arm and cable is nearly impossible without removing the rally pac from the steering column and the instrument cluster from the dash.  So, to verify my suspicions I inserted a endoscope that sends a wireless live feed to my cell phone. It didn't take long to discover that the 53 year-old cable had snapped. In fact the bent end piece was still threaded through the attachment hole on the control arm. Luckily I had planned on replacing the cables at some point and had a brand new set still in the package ready to go.

I spent the next hour removing the rally pac, and disconnecting the speedo cable and light bulb sockets from the back of the instrument cluster, just so I could get to the damaged cable and control arm.

My garage has no power so I stuck an Adams Polishes magnetic LED light to the upper side of the interior dash to illuminate the tight, dark space. It was perfect for the task.

After another hour of squeezing my hands through crazy small spaces... the new cable was firmly in place and working, so I carefully put everything back together, and was actually pretty pleased that I didn't goof anything up in the process. Then I started putting away the tools, protective rags and miscellaneous pieces and parts. Like others here I'm a bit OCD when it comes to how I store everything in the house and garage. As I was putting everything back in to their designated spaces my eyes went to the now empty spot the Adams flashlight typically lives. It wasn't there, and for the life of me I couldn't remember setting it down anywhere. That's when it hit me that I may have forgotten to pull it down before closing everything back up.

So, once again I enlisted the endoscope and phone app... poked it under the dash... and low and behold... there was the Adam's logo looking all bright and crisp!

There was no way I was going to disassemble the instrument cluster again so I just sat there... completely frustrated. Then I remembered the time I replaced the defroster ducts, and that there was probably enough space to fit a finger or two if I pulled up the duct end pieces. If that was possible, I was fairly certain the flashlight would be within reach. So off came the defrost/speaker grill and 30 minutes later the flashlight was no longer buried in the dash, it was back on the wall where it belongs.

FYI... my husband laughed out loud for a full five minutes... so to make myself feel better... I logged on to the Adam's website and ordered a Mystery Bucket.
