Spent 45 minutes in the insulated heated garage last night Rinseless Washing the G8. I used the silver plush microfiber towels Adam's had on clearance. Had I known they were that good I'd have bought a lot more. Looking back I also wish I'd have insulated and heated the garage sooner. For us northern climate folks it is a wonderful thing.   DO IT!!!

    I went down to the basement after shoveling the driveway three times.  I  A M  S O  S I C K  O F  W I N T E R !!!

I organized my detailing stuff and realized I have enough rinseless/waterless washes to do every vehicle at a dealership...twice! I also have two unopened wash pads, several single softs and two double softs that are unused as well. I removed about 18 older MF towels to the garage/bird sh#& bag.

Unfortunately the lovely Mrs. was down there at the same time and put the kibosh on anything new until I use up some of the old. Farts! I wanted to get some of the new paint sealant but that will have to wait.

Got these last week and was planning on installing them this past weekend underneath our basement stairs..  then I found a nice crack in the 45deg part of the stairs..

    so I fixed it..

the delay made me reconsider where I would put the components as the Wife and I would both still like to see our investment from time to time, instead of having them hidden in the laundry room..

Here is my concept, although I think I am going with a taller rack for future possible expansion (next house)..

I need some more speaker wire!

I know some of you follow me on FB and Instagram so you already know all this. Last July my wife and I decided to demolish the back deck and add a screened in porch to our house. Well, 6 months later we ended up with a very nice sunroom. My brother and I did everything except the decking and the shingles on the roof. Needless to say it kept me very busy. Between doing details, car shows, and construction it didn't leave much time for me to visit forums.

Over the next couple of weeks I'll be posting up some of those details. For now I'm going to share some pics of the new addition.

    Here's what we started with:

Finished project. We ended up with a 14'x16' room and a little over 520 sqft of deck space.

So I'll start this and (not that anyone cares) update as I go.  My goal is to make it show ready before it warms up outside.

I bought the car used with 35,6XX miles on it.  It has a 6.8L LS3 from Texas Speed in it and has been lowered with poly throughout the suspension. The engine has roughly 2000 miles on it, so it's basically brand new.  The PO was sold on the idea of a lifetime wax so he paid for it and believed that it was still protecting the car.  Ugh...  He was a bit OCD with cleaning so the paint is pretty clean and not overly swirled, but silver REALLY is nice for not showing them.  My goal right now is to get the car mechanically the way I want it and then work on the paint.

#1 thing I had to do was get the smoke smell out of the cabin.  I did that using an Ozone Generator which I rented online.  Now I'm contending with what I believe was a scent he sprayed in the car.  It's a sweet smell.  Not horrible, but not something I want either.  I think baking in the sun with the windows cracked will eliminate a lot of that.  I am going to try Mooks idea of using Baking Soda though.

So the other day I got the winter wheels removed in favor of the VMR 710's that came with the car.  I sold the winter wheels with the GT so bye-bye!  These are staggered so 285 rear and 245 front 19".

The car looks lifted because I jacked it up to put the wheels on and didn't roll the car so it never settled.  It sits an inch lower than stock.

I also removed the throttle body and sent it off to be massaged.  Believe it or not, the PO spent 10,000+ on this engine, and it still had the stock TB.  (GOBSMACKED)
I still need to re-route the PCV system on the engine to clean it up some, as well as putting on a set of Holley valve covers to clean up the look of the engine bay.  I also got some bling from AU for the engine bay which I still need to install as well.

So, most of my work has been done on the interior up until now.

Last weekend I installed an HSV (Holden Special Vehicles) triple gauge cluster in the dash and a "smokers kit" from a Calais in AU.  Both come on the upscale vehicles and IMO, look a lot nicer.  I wanted the gauges to watch over the important stuff under the hood.  Basically, what the "smokers kit" does is does away with the little cubby's under the stereo in front and under the rear AC vents in the back seat and in their place puts a nice flip up cover and ashtray.  The ashtray's can be removed which makes it a hidden cubby.  I also hid the receptacle that I plug the front line lock switch into.

    Before and afters!

I ordered some more suspension goodies just today so there's more to come there, and I have black trim for around the side windows and some door handles that I need to get painted to do away with the chrome around the stock ones.  My goal is to have no chrome on the car.

So I'll post up as time goes on...

Lazy day.  Did do a honey do.  Cleaned out the dryer vent.  and pulled the back of the dryer apart and cleaned the inside.  Really wasn't bad.  Good idea to check it once in a while.  Those that have never checked it, I suggest you do.  It can cause a fire.  Used the master blaster with a vent brush.  Told the wife that was the real reason I bought it.      She didn't believe me.  On another note, a 15 amp breaker won't cut it with the MB.  I tripped the 15amp circuit I was plugged into twice.

I would say zero.  I am beginning to see what Dylan has been saying -- everyone wants a little something different.  I would prefer a front only embroider emblem, but I know that is not happening.

Shoveled the driveway twice this morning and it needs another shoveling now. Dusted off the cars twice as well. Next few days are going to be fun to say the least:

Tonight: Areas of blowing snow. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around -19. Wind chill values as low as -43. Blustery, with a west northwest wind 20 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph. Monday: Areas of blowing snow. Mostly sunny and cold, with a high near -16. Wind chill values as low as -46. Breezy, with a west northwest wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Monday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around -17. Wind chill values as low as -42. West wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.
The current forecast for this coming weekend is for rain/snow. By then the 30s will fell like thong weather!
