Thats exactly right. Emphasis on the second wipe. I treat it just like I would Ceramic Boost except I find it much easier to use. But what I mean by that is the second wipe I have found is essential. If you see streaks remaining after your second wipe, you need to flip to a new dry side of the towel or another dry Mf towel.

And I like to work in panels so I’ll spray and wipe one panel at a time. I don’t like to let any SiO2 dry on the surface.

Might I also suggest while it’s still available getting the “Adams Mystery Product” it’s Ceramic Waterless Wash and it comes in the normal 16oz bottle with the normal sprayers as opposed to the smaller bottles with smaller sprayers. It’s also a fun smell, although the normal Ceramic WW also has a good scent!

Very nice, love the shot with the basketball hoop.  The shots with the rainbow effect came out good and that should help other understand what the rainbow effect should look like.  Thank you for posting the pictures.

I know what you mean about getting to work on newer vehicles, I'm so used to 10 or more year old ones, that I feel like I should be doing more work.

Today I did a wash, decon and polish on this new Ecosport. Used Adams new formula of the Ceramic spray. It was super easy to use. I let it sit for about 60-75 seconds. At around the 2 minute mark it seemed to get tacky and I had trouble wiping it off the surface. So I dialed it back some and it was effortless to wipe off at the 60-75sec mark. And at that time frame the rainbowing was started to go away so I knew it was ready at that point to be removed. If it lasts a full 5-6 months I’ll be impressed. I bought 4oz and I’m guessing you could probably do 3-4 normal size cars with that amount. After polishing the vehicle was really glossy. It’s new so the paint wasn’t in bad shape. I’m not use to working on new vehicles. It was so easy to decontaminate. After applying and removing the coating. The longer it sat, it seemed to get glossier and glossier. I was like, what is going on here?! Guessing the SIO2 curing was making it look better 🤷🏻‍♂️?? Here’s a few pics. I’m terrible at just explaining things so if you have any questions about the process I’ll be happy to answer. I am annoyed I paid for 3 day shipping and it took 10 days to get to me. Oh well lol.

stalebreadjr reacted to TheWolf in Would it be pointless to add tire shine after VRT?
Applying a silicone-based tire dressing like Tire Shine over the top of a water-based dressing like VRT is not recommended, since it would result in the Tire Shine being easily washed off.  The reason Tire Shine lasts longer than VRT is because the silicone soaks into and sticks to the tire rubber better than a water-based dressing.

I still remember buying a bottle of Car Shampoo and getting a bottle of Ultra Shampoo with my Foam Gun.   I used both and they were equal in the cleaning aspect.  There is a small difference in the amount needed for a wash, which equals out the price in my opinion.  The reason, I have stuck with Ultra and get it by the gallon, is I prefer the smell of the Ultra.  That is the ultimate reason for selecting a particular product.

On the original foam gun, it worked fine, but as much as I used it I was afraid I'd wear out the plastic parts so I upgraded to the Premium foam gun and gave my son-in-law the standard one.

I am going to second what @falcaineer , @Nickfire20 , and @RayS are saying. That this is a learning experience. We all started with no idea what we were doing and are now doing trial and error. There is no one right process. It's about learning what your preferences are and continuing with those.

On the topic of Wash & Wax-I have used wash & wax a handful of times on different finishes, and I think it produces nice results and a quick way of achieving nice results. However, I have found that in many instances, if I am in no hurry, I would prefer to use a shampoo that has no protection built in. It's just my preference for vehicles that are already sufficiently protected. That doesn't mean any shampoo is better or worse than the others.  I don't necessarily consider many of these products to be superior or inferior, better or worse than each other. They serve different purposes. If I remember correctly from older posts, you've purchased a gallon of Car Shampoo, a gallon of Mega Foam, and a half gallon of Ceramic Waterless Wash. In my opinion, 3 products that you cannot go wrong with. Both Car Shampoo and Mega Foam are excellent PH neutral soaps for great lubrication and great cleaning both with or without a foam cannon. Ceramic Waterless Wash is a heck of a product. Use it as a detail spray on any vehicle, coated or non coated.

Your Ceramic Spray Coating on your Avalon looked fantastic by the way, and any combination of the three aformentioned products that you have bought will work very well to keep it clean and maintain it's protection.

As for Adam's creating a diagram or chart for pairing products, that is a very good idea, and I agree. It would be great to have a tool for beginners to learn what they will need. By the way, I always make a point to watch the videos and read product descriptions on both Adam's website and on Amazon. Sometimes I'll find useful charts on amazon that I had seen no where else.

I’m still relatively new to the detailing game, but I’ve developed quite the Adams collection. I started with tire shine and it’s grown from there. Mine and my wife’s vehicles get Adams exclusively. Did a little work on my 2018 Camry XSE. Washed it with shampoo, then clayed, then a coat of brilliant glaze, and then a coat of Americana wax. The interior was vacuumed and cleaned with leather/interior cleaner, and then interior protection paste applied. Tires got Tire n Rubber cleaner then VRT, and wheels cleaned with wheel cleaner. All in all, I think it turned out well. Let me know what you guys think!

I’d like to get into the polishing/paint correcting next.  Here to learn before I buy a swirl killer kit next.

Well guys I thought you knew me better than that, haven't you seen any of my previous posts, lol ! Of course I can get these scratches out ! No gauges needed here knowing how hard the clear coat is on Mercedes. I did the worst part of the scratches with Adams Heavy Correcting Polish, then did two more steps with Adams Correcting Polish and Finish Polish and then a coat of Adams Machine Sealant was applied and then topped off with a coat of Adams Americana Wax. Flex 3401 machine was  used and Adams correcting pads as well. Coat of machine sealant used on wheels and VRT applied on tires. Great products and techniques were used to bring the perfection back to this totally trashed paint, so don't let anyone tell you that you cant get scratches out of your paint if you have a mishap here and there. Here are some pics for you.

To answer your question from before, yes you’ll want one of the two coatings on before you do one of the waxes. And if you want to do the ceramic paint coating that would be your base layer.

but if you’re saying you want CSC, that would be great! I love it! And I don’t believe that it would be overkill. I think using CPW over CSC would be appropriate

Since @Yo-Yo Ma's Cousin called me out on the Ceramic Paste Wax, I'm going to include a couple of pictures that you can use for comparison.  The first picture of the truck is about 2 months after I applied CPW and the second picture is from this last weekend when I stripped it and applied Ceramic Spray Coating.  They both look good and the maintenance is pretty much the same, Wash + Coat, Ceramic Waterless Wash and about every 4-6 weeks Ceramic Boost.  In both cases, the preparation is what makes all the difference.

The next two pictures are of the Mustang, the first picture being when I applied CPW on January 9th, please excuse the pirate look since we initially received the wrong headlights.  This next picture is from today and it still has the same coat of CPW and has maintenance washes and Ceramic Boost applied.  We're at the 10 month mark and the car is still looking very good and I still have not decided if it is going to be converted to CSC or will stay with CPW.  They are both outstanding products and I'm also old school and enjoy putting the wax on by hand and buffing it off by hand.

The second picture of the Mustang shows that it is getting dull, but it has also been two weeks since it was last washed.   The main thing that I want to stress is that no matter what product you use on your vehicle, the better job you do with the prep is the better it will come out.  Just take your time and plan for two days, that way if you get tired or something comes up, you don't end up rushing through it.

Just as important, don't hesitate to ask questions, we all enjoy sharing our experiences, good and bad, and helping others.

Hey there. Yeah it can be pretty confusing. There’s a lot of options. But to start from the top. Ceramics are a newer form of protection (old school protection would be considered wax). They have much longer longevity and increased performance in terms of the protection they provide As compared to other protection products.

Ceramic products are fully synthetic as opposed to waxes which have natural ingredients in them like carnuba and other things. Waxes are normally a substance that you lay on top of your paint. A ceramic coating is actually meant to bond and adhere to the paint.

the purpose of having a ceramic coating in short is to protect from rain, sun, contamination and other exterior elements that can really mess up a vehicles finish. Also it makes it so much easier to clean. Water and dirt don’t like to stick to the surface.

So the products that you have mentioned and Adams has in their line up are:

    Ceramic Paint Coating
    Ceramic Spray Coating
    Ceramic Liquid Wax
    and Ceramic Paste Wax
(as well as the SiO2 infused things, which would be considered maintenance products for a ceramic coated vehicle... they also have other procura like trim coating and wheel coating and glass coating and headlight and metal wipes, if you have any questions about those we can answer them separately, here I’m just trying to explain the big ones that are the most talked about)

Ceramic Paint Coating is a true coating. It is the most durable and robust protection that Adams carries overall. It is also the most involved in terms of application. You have to work in small sections (2’x2’) all the way around the car. And the cure time is 24 hours. It provides a pretty thick coating, though, and because of that it can last up to 2+ years. It is meant only for your painted surfaces. (As I listed above they have a separate product for glass, trim, and wheels)

Ceramic Spray Coating is also a true coating, but made in a way that is much easier for somebody to apply. You can work in larger sections like say a panel or a half a panel at a time, and it’s in spray form which is easier for the person doing the work. It has a cure time of 4-6 hours and it leaves a coating which is a fraction of the thickness of the Ceramic Paint Coating. The longevity in this product is around 6-8 months. You can use Ceramic Spray Coating on almost anything. It works great on glass, trim, convertible tops, Wheels, plastic... I even tried it on my shoes (not worth it).... I love this product

Ceramic Liquid and Paste Waxes are actually not coatings. They are synthetic waxes which are infused with the active ingredient in ceramic coatings (SiO2). The difference in the two products as far as I know is a small difference in the SiO2 content (CPW with 35% and CLW with 30%) and one is just in a liquid form and one is in paste wax form. So really it just depends on the person applying and which type of wax they prefer. Ceramic liquid wax is newer, so I’m not sure about it’s longevity, but i applied mine over my ceramic spray coating and the seems to be going 3.5 months strong right now. The Ceramic Paste Wax has been around a little while and people love it. It’s said to lSt 6-8 months, but I’ve heard it could last up to a year! I call @RayS to the stand.
make sure to keep both waxes in the paint. I thought I could use my CLW on other surfaces and it wasn’t pretty. But the paint looked great!!

also I didn’t even mention the visual effects all of these products have. all of them look amazing on a vehicle.

hope this helps! Please let us know any other questions you may have.

The least aggressive would be Revive Hand Polish and I wouldn't rule that out according to the condition of the vehicle.  I had one vehicle come in that was pristine and was absolutely beautiful after using Revive so I didn't touch it with anything else.

For the products that I buy in the gallon, which is about a 1/5 of what I use for products, I try to watch for the specials when there is a 16 oz bottle and the gallon and/or towels to go along with it.  By planning and watching the sales or specials, you can get some really good deals on the gallons.

As for the Wheel Cleaner, I have gallons of both Eco and Regular wheel cleaner.  I've found that once I get the wheels cleaned and treated with Ceramic Boost, that they are very easy to keep clean with minimal Eco Wheel Cleaner.   For most of the treated the wheels, it takes 4 or 5 squirts of Eco and they'll be nice and clean.   The regular Wheel Cleaner can still be used, but it reduces the longevity of the CB.    I haven't received the new Tire & Wheel Cleaner yet, so I'm not sure how that will impact or work on the wheels with CB, but I should find out in the next few weeks.

I do agree that it would be helpful to have the list updated, thank you @Pugsly14 for taking this initiative.  While we probably shouldn't add it to the list, my wife's favorite product is "CR".   CR stands for Chris aka @falcaineer Recommended, which automatically means that I should have it and use it on the wife's vehicle.

The two that I would recommend adding to the list are:
EAPC = Eco All Purpose Cleaner
    EWC = Eco Wheel Cleaner
