  1. A single polish that would go from SHR down to FMP by continuing to work it - I guess diminishing abrasives, so I could do one pass and be done with it, no pad changes or 2x around the car.

  4. I agree with the guys above about possibly splitting it up into several body panels at a time. Hate to have bare clayed paint exposed to the elements, then try and polish a week later. I like to clay and then polish and seal. Since I can't block out a huge chunk of time right now, that's how I am handling mine, and it is a LOT smaller than a full sized truck.

  7. Time to start a two wash pad 2 bucket w/grit guard regimen. When we wash the paint we put the swirls in, so being careful every time you wash it keeps you off the polisher. No worries, practice makes perfect with the polisher.

  11. I have used Carpet and Upholstery Cleaner on my light gray headliner to remove (wait for it) melted chocolate. Misted area lightly, and a MF, VERY Gingerly massaged the spot, changing to clean areas of MF to pick up the gunk. I avoided saturating the headliner. as much as possible. Didn't want it to get totally wet. Came out great. Also removed dirty fingerprints from the headliner as well.
  12. It's a Deere, no problems there... (nothing runs like a Deere).
  13. One of the things I like about Buttery Wax is that I can apply and remove it from my black paint in full sun, and it shines well. The paint is hot and yet it goes on and off with no fuss. It was the first wax I bought from Adams and it still has chops.
  14. Yeah, the Germans make some nice stuff. Liking my Flex. Anything that saves me time polishing is good. Took me a while to move to the Flex - I dragged my feet, but in the end it has been worth it. Very smoooooth polishing.

Consider when you wash your car that you are the one who is inflicting swirls on your paint(which you have to polish out later), and wash with this in mind. 2 or 3 bucket wash, foam gun, dual wash pads, all are your friends that help keep you off the polisher. My neighbors think I'm excessive the way I wash and dry my car, but they always complement me on how it looks. And I don't polish it every 3 months either.
  16. I always do the roof. It needs to be clayed and polished up (not perfect, but close), and ALWAYS gets MSS up there. Need the armor on black paint in a marine environment. It gets cooked in our sun, and this DD lives outside. The MSS is amazingly tough. I do the entire car with MSS on the paint, and then top optionally with BG and Americana as I can.
  17. Flex will cut the time about in half, Adam suggests to 1/3 of PC time. I have found that with the flex I get more correction with FMP than I did with the PC, so sometimes I just use FMP and it's greatly improved (not perfect). Love love love FMP.
  18. One of the last things that touches your paint is the microfiber cloths. After all that work AND TIME you have put in removing the swirls and polishing your paint, do you want to risk having to do it all over again for a few bucks saved on towels? My time is worth more than that, let alone dealing with the frustration of having to do it over again because I got cheap. First towels I got were auto store towels. After I discovered Adams, it's Adams towels all the way.
  19. I had one of the really early ones, and I don't know if it was warped, but it was a little firm to get off, so I waxed the threads and that helped. On my 2nd tub now and all is well.
  20. No problems there - Putting a coat of wax over the BG holds the look. What you see in my sig is a coat of MSW with BG and then Americana over it.
  21. You get the swirls out with the SSR and SHR. (I rarely ever use SSR, only for extreme damage) You always have to step down through each polish (coarse to finest) to the point where you are (always) finishing with FMP. Even just using SHR, it kind of beats up the finish, (make sure the SHR flashes, goes from milky to greazy looking) and then you clean that up with FMP. FMP jewels the finish, gives you those clear reflections.
  22. Just used it last weekend - WOW. Those wheels on that Cayenne looked great!. Really gets in around the lugs and gets the crud out. I would only use it to get bad wheels back in shape, coat them with QS, then clean GWC the rest of the time.
  23. Reminds me of an old blues line "If it wasn't for bad luck, I wouldn't have no luck at all". Been there, but not to that extreme, so sorry it's gone this way. HOWEVER, you do have that Gorgeous engine waiting to be used. And the 6 speed ought to be a lot of fun. Can't wait to see the results.
