  1. I wouldn't even talk to the guy that did it any more. Leave him completely out of everything. Just deal with his insurance company.
  2. Most of them are good but every once and awhile you get that one guy who was just looking for money and didn't care about what the customer thought. Every large place of employment has people like that, it's unavoidable.
  3. Safelite has very mixed reviews because you're not paying for a product but rather a service. Some technicians are not as good as others because of the human factor.
  4. I think this is what I use. http://www.amazon.com/Spotlight-SPOT-6309-Shifter-Spotlight%252c-Black/dp/B00EC0Q1IY/ref=sr_1_cc_4?s=aps&ie=UTF8&qid=1453255432&sr=1-4-catcorr&keywords=spotlight+shifter
  5. Least aggressive method first. If you have Paint Finishing Polish, try that first. Chances are if its fine scratches it will come out with that. Do a test area to find out, wipe it down with 50/50 isopropyl alcohol and then Polish with Paint Finishing Polish. If after a few passing attempts it doesn't look better step it up. As far as the flashlight, I know there are some expensive ones out there but I use a $30 LED light and it does just fine seeing swirls. I've never used (and probably never will) one of those expensive ones but I've always had success with my paint.
  6. Don't try to thaw it ether. Let it come up to room temp on its own. Thats where the "Extreme Heat" part comes in.
  7. Let someone else do it of your choosing. If you begin to do it it becomes a conflict of interest if something bigger were to happen. Document document document. If its not documented, it never happened as far as any legal system cares. You need to go to the Police and ask for a copy of the crash/accident report. All of the information will be on there if he did or didn't have insurance and so on. Again, if you go through the other guys insurance, make sure you pick a place you trust to do the work. They will always pick the cheapest and we all know cheapest isn't best.
  8. Agree. Order your touchup paint first. The touchup paint that came with my 2016 Colorado had a prep pen on the bottle/tube.
  9. You apply a "blob" of touchup paint to the area to the point where the touchup paint is higher than the normal paint. Let it dry for about 4-12 hours. Then go over it with a flat plastic card wrapped in a cloth with the Blob Eliminator and it will smooth it down to the same surface height as the paint. If done right, its nearly perfect.
  10. Believe it disappeared because of the new Forum Software. I remember what you are talking about. Mine was the header once, I thought I took a screenshot of it but I can't find it.
  11. Langka is what you are referring to. Get the touch up paint from a dealership though, that way it is 100% the correct color. http://www.langka.com/index.php/featured-products/paint-chip-repair-kit
  12. I can't function without the Hex Grip Tire Applicator. When the company stopped producing them for a short period I was able to snag a case of 12 before they were sold out. Don't know what I'd do without them. I've tried others but I always come back to the Hex Grip.

    Chat?

Should do like a Friday afternoon chat or something with a specific topic each week. Just an idea.
  14. I really like CCS Pads for the PC and Flex. The thought behind the shape of the CCS pads is that the texture of the design distributes polish more evenly on a surface while absorbing less polish into the pad itself... It also helps prevent the pad from jumping or skipping around.
  15. I had the same experience and opinion of Deep Wheel Cleaner when it first came out and I never bought another bottle... HOWEVER I just purchased a gallon because I started using it as a paint decontaminator. Works great if used properly!
  16. Lessons learned! Always exploring options now. Alternatives to clay just didn't work well for me but I see they work well for others. Personal preference I guess. Lots of "Professionals" still use traditional clay over alternatives but I don't fall in that category. Just a weekend warrior like many others and probably like the OP'er. EXPLORE! No ones techniques are the same and no one uses the exact same products as the next guy or gal. Maybe you'll love Alternative Clay... Maybe you won't. The sponge I bought was only $8 w/ a coupon code.
  17. I've had the same Meriano Mitt for 3-4 years now, I got it when Adam's first started carrying it. I use it all Spring, Summer and Fall and it holds up better than Pads. My Meriano is still super soft. I use pads in the winter and usually every winter I go through 2-3 pads. The pads get nappy and not very soft over time.
  18. A lot of people get brand brainwashed. I think they are terrible. Creates more damage than what its worth. It doesn't even do as good of a job as real clay.
  19. I tried Clay Alternatives and wasn't very impressed. It made a ton of marring marks on the paint while barely removing any of the contaminates. Followed up with a traditional clay bar and it cleared it right up. Not sure if you have used a clay alternative but ether way my recommendation is sticking with traditional clay.
  20. I'd probably use some utility towels after you are completely done with the water and the rest of the vehicle. Gary Dean method is nice and works well but leaves questions like this unanswered and other stuff like wheel wells and stuff. Basically its always washing with Rinseless Wash. Everyone uses similar here that washed with 8+ towels soaking in a bucket and the dirty towels are never reintroduced to the clean water or paint once all sides are dirty. Its the same thing. Gary just claims to be the person that came up with it, whether thats true or not I don't know. I don't like the method because I don't trust it except on vehicles that are slightly dirty or dusty. Not really for vehicles that have been driven in the snow, salt, mud or haven't been washed in about a month. Too many variables to create unnecessary scratches and swirls. This last paragraph is just my opinion though and how I wash/maintain. Best way to do those running boards is with a soapy brush and hose.
  21. The bag is reusable. I empty it in the garbage, take it outback and shake it out. Then I vacuum it with another vacuum. The filters should be changed once a year, sometimes sooner depending on how much you use it.
  22. Sounds uncomfortable... Everyones cloths would be black after you clean it.
  23. Regardless of why you want it, I'd go with a Westin Brand. Just a much better company in general, especially when it comes to support and warranties.
  24. I always bought cheap ones, usually Rain-X... HOWEVER, my '16 Colorado came with Bosch Icon blades and I love them.
