Americana Containers
mjhpadi replied to Midnight1700's topic in Product Polls, Feedback, and Company Input
Just wanted to thank you for the tip, it worked perfectly. Started with the container in cold water slowly heated it to boiling and the wax melted nicely back into a nice solid piece after it cooled. I was concerned that it might warp the new container, but no problem, works fine. Thanks again for the tip! -

I'm glad you revived it too! Got my wax transferred to the new container and although it broke in many pieces, I used the back side of a plastic spoon and compressed the pieces back into a solid piece of wax and smoothed the top. I actually think the wax softened a bit from the heat of my hands. I am still opening and closing the new container every time I walk by it just because it's so nice to have it work so nicely! -
Another win for Detail Spray
mjhpadi replied to ForceofWill's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
Great looking Mustang! I agree, Detail Spray is the cat's meow! I just finished dusting of my car and cleaning the bugs off the front from driving last night. I am always amazed at how great the Detail Spray makes the car look with virtually no work! -
Americana Containers
mjhpadi replied to Midnight1700's topic in Product Polls, Feedback, and Company Input
Whoooww! Just received my new Americana container, and I have spent the last 20 minutes opening and closing it with two, yes two, fingers!!! Now I have to go wrestle my old container to get it open to transfer the wax to the new one. Point being, I can't ask for any better service then what I have ALWAYS received from Adam's. So once again, thank you Adam's and staff for your great work and wonderful customer service! You guys are the BEST! -
Don't know if it does or not but I have been using Adam's products since the 90's and on several vehicles and I have never had a problem with sun fading, the paint has always looked good on any vehicle that I used Adam's, and none of them were garage kept.

Adam, you have always been more then generous to me, and I do not want my wax replaced, but a new container to put the wax in would be wonderful! If you could just send me a new container I would be very pleased. Thanks! -
Americana Containers
mjhpadi replied to Midnight1700's topic in Product Polls, Feedback, and Company Input
I keep mine in the fridge and it is still a PAIN to open and to close! It is the only real compliant I've ever had with anything from Adam's that hasn't been resolved. I love the wax, but the container could almost make me curse.....whoops, change that, IT HAS MADE ME CURSE! (and worst)! It is such a pain to get open and close that I used Buttery Wax the last time I waxed my car just because I didn't feel like hassling with the darn Americana container! -
Looks great, just one word, whenever I clay bar, my next step is always Revive, it really does help clean the finish and get it ready for the S&H Remover or FMP if that is your next step. By using the Revive, you can be sure that the paint is clean of any contaminents for your next step.
-
I completely agree, I don't even remove the residue from the clay bar (Adam told me it was OK to leave it on), just use the Revive and remove the residue when I remove the Revive. Mook is correct, the Revive really does decontaminate the paint and leaves it in great shape for whatever next step you decide to do!

I'm confused now...buttery wax, super sealant questions
mjhpadi replied to Coderedpl's question in Exterior Protection & Enhancement
Revive is really more of a paint cleaner then a polish, I use it after clay bar, leaving the residue from the clay bar on the vehicle and then using Revive to finish the cleaning process. It really leaves a very clean finish for whatever your next step is going to be. I apply it by hand since it doesn't need to dry, apply and remove immediately. As far as Brilliant Glaze I can't agree that it "flattens" your finish. It is a glaze that also has some cleaning properties. If you apply it before using one of the waxes, it will really make your finish look tremendous. As I said in a different thread, before there was and Adam's Waxes the final step was Brilliance (what Brilliant was called before it was Brilliant). As for the 2 waxes ( Buttery and Americana) I have used both and Buttery lasts fine, and looks great. I have found it is a bit harder to remove then Americana, but I believe this is because it is a liquid so that it generally ends up being a thicker coat. Americana is just great, a bit harder and goes on thinner, but a super wax. Just hate the Americana container as it ages the darn container gets almost impossible to get the lid on and off without the strength of 3 men and a boy! Hope this helps! -
Brilliant Glaze after Rain

You're right about that, it smells great! But then again, most of Adam's products smell pretty darn good! -
Brilliant Glaze after Rain
mjhpadi replied to slicksierra's question in Exterior Protection & Enhancement
Yes, it will be fine, I still have some that is gray from the last gallon I bought and just used it last week. It is still fine. Just that it may be a little older but still good. Adam has been known to change colors on products. It is the only complaint I have heard is that sometimes there is too much color dye in some of the products. -
Brilliant Glaze after Rain
mjhpadi replied to slicksierra's question in Exterior Protection & Enhancement
Just for a point of clarification, in all the years of using Adam's products I have NEVER had a clouding problem. I apply products on more then a monthly basis without ever having experienced any clouding. So I don't really think it should be of concern. -
Brilliant Glaze after Rain
mjhpadi replied to slicksierra's question in Exterior Protection & Enhancement
Actually you should not do it both ways for the best protection. You should always put wax on top of the Brilliant. Remember Brilliant does have some cleaning properties and will remove a bit of the wax if used on top. That being said, I do believe that Brilliant does offer a bit of protection (not near what either wax offers but a little) because when I first started using Adam's there was no wax offered and the final step in the detail process was Brilliance (as it was named back then). So for a few years using Brilliance was the protection step in Adam's product line. But with the addition of the 2 great waxes, using Brilliant should be the last step before wax application. -
newbie questions
mjhpadi replied to grand damnit's question in General Detailing Discussion and Questions
Nothing in concrete, but I have discovered that when it is applied by hand it is much harder to get an even thin coat, and it is MUCH harder to buff off. Also when doing tight spaces, those are the perfect places to use the Quick Sealant. -

Only thing I could add to these guys recommended procedures would be to add a step with Revive after the clay bar and before moving on to Machine Polish. The Revive will do additional cleaning of the paint and will make the final result look better. -

I understand that it isn't necessary but I like to allow it to cure for 24 hours before moving on to the Brilliant. -

I will always follow up the Sealant (whether it is the Quick Sealant or the MSS) with Brilliant Glaze and then wax. I do like to let the sealant on the vehicle for 24 hours+ before I do the glaze and wax. -
Will be a nice car, hopefully you will post some pictures once you get the new ride!

Detail cart!!!
mjhpadi replied to Sizzle Chest's topic in Product Polls, Feedback, and Company Input
Can't help with your question but I do have the detail seat and I really love it. It is much stronger then expected and I hope to soon add the detail cart to compliment the seat, both are really great additions to help with vehicle detailing! -

^+1, It's very hard to pick just one, but I can't imagine not having Brilliant Glaze to apply before finishing up with a coat of either Buttery Wax or Americana. Can you imagine the panic I experienced when Adam told me he was considering discontinuing Brilliance (what it was called before it was named Brilliant Glaze)? But the other product that I really couldn't be without is Detail Spray, I use it at least 2-3 times a week, sometimes a couple of times in one day, so it would really be a toss up! -
Well, another thing you could do is order the front end pieces and tail light pieces of a Shelby and have a body shop remove the stock parts and paint and install the Shelby front and rear parts on your GT/CS. Would be cheaper then having Shelby do the work. Also you could probably get the Shelby hood for your GT. Again, it would cost some $$ but would give you one really unique looking 'Stang!
-
Yes, Shelby does do work on your car. It is not inexpensive but they sure can put the Shelby brand into your California Special. Here's the website for their service: Shelby American Motorsports Also another company that I have used and have been very impressed by is Livernois Motorsports. Here's their website: Livernois Motorsports: Specializing in Late Model Domestic Performance Parts I know that they do outstanding work and their customer service is outstanding. Hopefully this will help in your decision.

Brilliant Glaze over Americana?
mjhpadi replied to LightStang's question in Exterior Protection & Enhancement
Since the Brilliant does have some cleaning properties, I would not suggest using it over top the wax. I know a lot of folks do it, but using it on top of the wax will remove some of the wax, I think you would be better to do Brilliant, Buttery, and after a few hours to set an additional coat of Buttery.
