  1. Thanks for the comments everyone!  They are much appreciated!

Thorsager:  I use it on every vehicle that comes in.  It's a great tool to have as it will give you an indicator of 'how much' paint/clear you have to work with as well as any indicators of previous paint/body work.  I think it's a must have.

Yes, Defelsko Positector is one of the leading manufactures of thickness gauges.  They are not inexpensive, but I wanted one that will measure both ferrous, non-ferrous, plastic and carbon fiber substrates.

    Hope this helps you!

  2. 2014 Porsche GT3

    White

    3,200 miles

It’s been a Porsche past couple months here at Autodermatology!  I will keep the P-cars coming!

I had a client bring me his new to him 2014 Porsche GT3 in white.  The car has low miles.  Approximately 3,200 miles are on the vehicle.

It came in for a paint correction and ceramic coating.  The front end is covered in PPF.

It was in overall OK condition. The typical marring, swirls and light scratches.  It has been tracked before so some scuffs/etc were evident as well.

    Tools/equipment/chemicals/etc:

    Flex 3401, Rupes iBrid.

    PTG Defelsko

    Lighting by Scangrip.

    Lift by Ranger QickJack.

    Clayed .

    Washed .

    Misc  mf towels.

    HD/3D CUT and POLISH

     glass cleaner.

    Adam’s Trim coating.

    Adam’s Paint coating.

    Adam’s Ceramic Boost.

tire dressing. (this was baked on for greater longevity).

    Interior was wiped down

    Leather conditioned.

    Adam’s wheel cleaner.

     tire cleaner.

     wheels/calipers.

    Process:

I used a super-secret beta test rinseless/waterless/claylube/paintprep formula for the rinseless washing duties.  The vehicle was then clayed . Wheels were cleaned as were calipers and tires.

Paint readings were taken and showed plenty to work with. That’s always a nice thing to find!

Test spot revealed that the paint was medium-medium-hard.  It liked CUT and a medium pad.  Finished down nicely without much marring and no haze.  NO dust.  Nice!  Final polishing was with POLISH.  Came out like a white diamond!  The defects were very difficult to capture for me on this paint…you will have to trust me that they were there! LOL

I am a self-admitted coating geek…I just love them.  I wanted to try Adam’s new offerings.

Paint was prepped prior to coating.  The trim was also prepped.

    Coated.  Cured.

Boost was applied 24 hours later—it really slicked up the surface.  The Adam’s Ceramic Paint Coating is a little grabby on its own. Great shine, reflectivity.  It is easy to apply and remove.  Flashes quickly in my temp/humidity.

    Tires dressed.

    Glass cleaned.  Interior tackled.

    DONE!!!

Thanks for reading my write-up and looking at my many, many pictures!

  3. Used the Ceramic Boost that came in the Paint Coating Kit.  I waited for the coating to fully cure and then applied the BOOST.  This will fast become one of my favorite products for a coated vehicle.

It really slicked up the surface of the coating and gave it an extra pop of shine IMO.  I am curious to try this as a stand alone sealant to see the results/longevity that it can achieve.

Bottom line:  do NOT be afraid to hit your freshly coated car with BOOST...and use it for a maintenance topper and 'booster' for it periodically.

Smells great, lime or something, love the color of it too!  Looks like slime!

A great addition to the Adam's line up.

  4. I tried the Ceramic Paint Coating out on a client's Porsche GT3 over the weekend.

Once again I was very impressed with the packaging.  One of the best in the business in my opinion.  It is really very well packaged, and the presentation upon opening it is very, very nice.

Everything you need to ceramic coat your vehicle is included.  READ and FOLLOW the directions and you will have a trouble free application.  (especially so if this is your first experience applying a ceramic coating).

As with the Trim Coating, the Paint Coating comes in a very heavy duty dark colored glass bottle with what appears to be enough product to do a few average sized vehicles.

Depending on your area and weather conditions, pay particular attention to the flash time(s).  I found that the coating flashed in around 10 seconds +/-.   Temperature was 82 degrees and the humidity was around 79%.

Application and removal was straight forward.  After allowing it to cure, the paint surface has a nice reflective hard candy look to it.  (this is on a white vehicle that has been paint corrected prior to application).

It feels a little 'grabby' as some coatings can.

After it was fully cured I applied the Boost...man do I LOVE this product.  Great smell, easy to apply, and boy did it slicked up the surface considerably!!!!  (I will do another review just on this product)

A few pics of the completed vehicle:

  5. I tried the Trim Coating for the first time this weekend.  I had a client scheduled for a full correction/protection on his Porsche GT3.

The trim was in good shape, a few defects here and there from some previous track time is all.

I was really impressed with the packaging that the kit came in.  It is top notch, 100%!!

Everything you need for the job is included.  The coating itself is in a nice heavy dark colored glass bottle.  Plenty of product for a few jobs IMO.

Follow the steps to the T and you will be rewarded with very nice dark, rich, matte ceramic protected trim.

It's a winner in my book.  Great job Adam's Team!

  6. Man, 2013 and its that trashed and swirled? Is that just from improper washing? Looks great now though!

Thank you!   Yes, the majority of the 'damage' was from improper washing as well as just poor upkeep/maintenance on the finish.

  7. Wow. Talk about perfect timing. Haven't been here for a couple of months and I was shocked at all the new products.

Well, I did a full correction on my new Camaro a couple of months ago and was shocked at the results (in a good way). Also tried to correct my girlfriend's car, a heavily oxidized 2010 Toyota Corolla. I only own the Porter Cable which didn't perform as well as I needed as it didn't get all the swirls out of the Camaro and barely put any shine on girlfriends car. Didn't know this but Toyota used a single stage paint on many of their vehicles. Mostly white I believe. Really hope I can save it but it's pretty bad. If you own an older Toyota, definitely keep it waxed/sealed.

Anyway, I didn't want to spend the big bucks on a Rupes so the Swirl Killer looks perfect. Probably get used 3 or 4 times a year. Just ordered it along with heavy correcting polish and a bunch of pads. I'll do a write-up on girlfriend's car, hopefully next week. Wish me luck!

P.S. I think I'll convert Porter Cable into 4" polisher for headlamps, tight areas etc.

This is the exact demographic that would benefit perfectly from having the Swirl Killer in their arsenal.

I also think you hit a winner winner, chicken dinner on the PC conversion!
