Serious question, how much work did you really have to do to that car? With only 550 miles, I can't imagine it needed anything major some to it.
Sweet piece of machinery!
You would be surprised at how much work 'new' cars need. Especially Italian vehicles. Everyone I have done has come with factory installed sanding marks, swirls, scuffs and scratches. I don't know why, they just do.
So this baby really did need a lot of attention. Don't be fooled by low mileage or age, they can be deceiving.
Thanks for the comments everyone!

Wheel cleaner! It's my favorite and it can be used for iron decon on the paint as well...
But, there are many many others!

I was at the Barrett-Jackson auction for a few days last week/weekend and had the opportunity to detail this crazy creation from Bairs Customs!
It's a on-off custom build, 1969 Plymouth Roadrunner. Sherwin-Williams custom paint color-Purple Rage, blown big inch hemi, discs all the way around, plenty of carbon fiber, big wheels, etc thru and thru.
This was the debut of the vehicle and it was being shown in the Dodge booth/area of the auction. It was fresh out of the shop and paint booth and had a few issues. Sanding marks, some scratches and plenty of swirls.
It needed to look GREAT for the display as well as for it's debut at the Palm Beach Cars and Coffee on Sunday.
It was cut with Adam's polishes fast correcting compound, MF pads, Swirl Killer polisher (both 15mm full size and their mini) along with Adam's correcting polish and finishing polish with the corresponding pads.
It took some time to cover all the real estate, but in the end, the results were worth it!!

As you stated, even with a finishing/light polish, you are removing some clear/paint (depending upon paint-base/clear or single stage). So, it's always wise to check your paint depth with a gauge if you have one available.
That being said, IMO, you are fine doing a light polish/finishing polish twice a year on your vehicle. This polish and pad combo doesn't have a ton of cut, so again, my opinion is you are good to go!
Keep it shiny!

Wow! Fantastic results! Great work. You weren't kidding. That blue looks amazing. Well done.

Medic hit it. Take a bunch of readings on a panel and see what your average is. I tend to get 'nervous' when I see readings in the low low 3mil and mid to high 2mil range. That being said, it doesn't mean that you don't have 'enough paint/clear' to do a correction----you can correct and then take some readings between passes to make sure you still have enough t work with.
Hope this helps!

I too find that I reach for this on finicky paint. It finishes down great and is easy to use.
I find Essence to be hard to use as well...specifically with foam pads. If you switch to MF pads, it really helps!

That's awesome!!!!! So cool!

Thanks everyone!!!

You have a little sheen going, Scott. Did you use some DS?
I'm coated baby!

You can also 'burn' 'burning' the tape. Take the tape you are going to use and tape it to your shirt...this will pick up some lint and make the tape less sticky and easier to remove. Also always remove it slowly and while pulling at an angle.
Sorry to hear this happened.

2012 Chevy SS Camaro 5th Gen
Silver Ice Metallic
32,280 miles
I had a new client drop off his daily driven Camaro. He purchased this car new and was one of the first 5th generation Camaro’s in town. He loves this car and is going to keep it and give it to his granddaughter when she is old enough to drive! How cool is that!
The paint was in very good condition although quite dirty. It had a few small swirls; scuffs, a couple minor scratches, and the biggest thing were some hard water spots.
Process/tools/equipment/products/etc:
3BW-Adam’s car shampoo
Micro-chenille wash mitts
wheels brushes
tire brush
Adam’s wheel cleaner
APC for wheel wells
Adam's tire & rubber cleaner
sealed the wheels
Hyde’s syrum-rotors
tire dressing
wash/clay mitt
Vehicle was dried
Glass cleaner and sealant
interior detailer
Vacuumed via Metro
trim/tire
Rupes MkII 21
White finishing pads
Misc MF towels
LSP-Adam’s ceramic paint coating
This nice 5th Gen really turned out well! Client is super happy to have multiple years of protection on the surfaces and will be encouraged to continue with his outstanding wash routines that have been going on for the past 5 years! (the car was really in good shape- thanks to his good wash/dry technique!)
Upon pickup, I mentioned his good wash technique to him and told him I was glad he knew what he was doing! He stated that he doesn’t know what he is doing; he just watched Adam’s videos and learned that way! We both had a good laugh over that!
Thank you, enjoy the pictures and as always, comments are welcomed!
