1. Thinking this might be the ultimate flat black car. Looks like crap to me but that is just a personal opinion....................
2. I have a 3" Griot's Garage random orbital buffer and I have been using it for about a year to buff out headlights. All the neighbors love me. It only takes a few minutes with some fine polish. It looks like the 4" pads might just fit the 3" buffer. I'm gonna be needing some new pads in the near future. Les
3. I was at the Concourse d'Elegance today in Forest Park and picked up a gallon of Detail Spray. Adams had a nice display. I believe it was the local distributor JP Automotive Detailing. Anyway...I'm running out to try out the Detail Spray 350Z right now.
4. What comes around goes around. These things were on the market about 30 years ago under a different name. I didn't use them then and I won't use them now. Purely a product for the very lazy.......................
5. Griot's Garage and DoDo Juice make a paste wax in a container like deodorant comes in. You just screw it up from the bottom and apply the wax to the pad. It is amazing how easy it is to use. Maybe Adam's could look into a container like they are using.
6. I don't have a problem with the guy taking the flags down, but it really wasn't necessary to cut either flag. Furthermore, he was also showing disrespect when he threw the Mexican flag to the ground. Neither flag deserves to be treated in that manner. Obviously, the American flag should always be flown on top but we also have to control our anger. Over the years, I have complained to many people about the torn and faded flags they have been flying. Most replaced the flags immediately and were actually thankful that I had pointed out that their flags were not proper. Even cities are not respectful. I sent an e-mail to the Mayor of a city in St Louis County complaining about the faded flags flying over their Vietnam Memorial. The flags were replaced the next day and have been flying properly ever since. I fly a flag 24 hours a day in my front yard. The neighbors all think I'm crazy but that is just the way I am. Here is a pic of my front yard with the flag flying proudly.
7. I've been using the brass quick connects for about 25 years. I love them and I still have some of my original quick connects. Those things last forever.
8. I detailed the Z with some Brilliant Spray Glaze so I took some pictures...............
9. I used the Brilliant Spray Glaze this morning and took a few pictures. This is the second time I used BSG and I am still impressed. Les
10. I used the Brilliant Spary Glaze for the first time yesterday. To be honest, I was very skeptical of the claims made for this product. However, after using it, I was amazed at the shine. My car already had a beautiful shine with Zymol Creme wax and I couldn't believe it could shine any better. Unless my eyes deceive me, I now have a much deeper, wetter looking shine. This seems to be an outstanding product. On another subject, I also used the VRT for the first time yesterday. The tires look brand new. The VRT also appears to be excellent. Les
11. Here is a picture of my Stealth (that I no longer own) taken about 2 years ago. At that time the Stealth was about 12 years old and had been waxed with Zymol Creme (I didn't know about Adams at that time)it's entire life.
12. I guess I must be one of the oldest. I just turned 65 last November and I am retired. I love being able to get up every morning and decide what I want to do. Les
13. I use Fine Machine Polish on my 3" random orbital for my headlights. I suspect the same procedure would work well for your windshield. After I buff out the scratches, I put on Buttery Wax.
14. I have been inspired. I have had an Austro Daimler Inter 10 bicycle sitting in the basement for about 30 years. It is dusty and need of some new tires but it is in excellent condition. As soon as spring gets here, I'll get the bike out of the basement and get it detailed and get it back on the road. This is probably a "vintage" bike by now. Here are a couple pictures of it in its woeful dusty condition.....................
15. I think I may have just accidentally found a new use for the Invisible Undercarriage Spray. I cleaned my Pirelli P Zero tires with it and it removed all traces of my former tire sprays. The tire looks flat black and brand new. Amazing stuff. Maybe everyone uses it for their tires but I had no idea it would clean rubber. Les
16. The Griot's backing plate is 6". I guess I'll be getting some of the Gen 2 pads soon. I also have the Griot's 3" random orbital. Do you have the 3" pads as well? Les
17. I didn't vote in the poll because it isn't really applicable to my situation. I have a Griot's Garage random orbital machine and use their pads. I use the Adam's Fine Machine Polish and the Machine Superwax. I get outstanding results with this process. I don't know if the Gen 2 pads will fit the Griot's machine. The Griot's machine uses the Velcro attachment system. Will this work with the Gen 2 pads? Les
18. I got my first clay bar about 15 years ago. It was a "Clay Magic" bar and once I used it, I was hooked. All three of my cars get the clay bar about every 6 months. Les
19. I understand the nervousness. I got a Griot's Garage random orbital a little over a year ago and I didn't use it for about a month because I was "nervous" and afraid I would mess up my paint. When I finally used it on my Miata, I was amazed. It was so easy to use and did a fantastic job. I have since polished my 350Z and my Dodge Caravan. They look outstanding. I just bought the three inch Griot's Garage random orbital as well. It is great for small areas where the 6" won't fit. It works great for headlights, wheels and small areas around the side mirrors. Just start working with it and you will be ok. Les
20. No Corvette for me either.............although I would love to have one. I drive a 350Z and a Miata.
21. U S Army 1966-1968 First Cavalry Division (Airmobile). Here is a pic of me taken during 1967. I sure looked young back then............
22. And here are my rides.................
23. Here is one of my favorite cakes...................... Southwest Georgia Pound Cake <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comIngredients: 1 Cup (2 sticks) butter, softened 3 cups sugar 6 eggs 3 cups all purpose flour ½ tsp baking powder ½ tsp salt 1 cup whipping cream 2 tsp vanilla extract Directions: Generously grease and flour a 10” Bundt pan. Using an electric mixer, cream the butter and sugar together until fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Sift together the flour, baking powder and salt. Alternately add the flour mixture and cream to the butter-sugar-egg mixture, beginning and ending with the flour. Stir in the flavoring. Pour the batter into the prepared pan. Place in a cold oven and set the oven temperature at 325 degrees. Bake for 1 ¼ hours without opening the oven door. Bake for an additional 15 minutes if necessary. Remove for the oven and let cool in the pan for 15 minutes. Invert the cake onto a plate. It really goes well with strawberries and whipped cream. Or you can just eat it by itself. It is outstanding while still warm.
