  1. If your wife is anything like mine nothing is going to make her cave unless something bad happens and costs you a lot of time fixing it. And it will be you fixing it, not her. Like the car covered in bird poop or driving thru a stretch of road that is torn up and they watered it down to keep the dust down, creating a mud pit. Doesn't matter what it is, anything preventive is a waste of time in my wife's eyes. She doesn't see the benefit of anything unless it is something that bugs her, or is quite obvious and is a major issue. I'm one that is always thinking about the what if's, and she has finally come around after several years and sees what I had been telling her in the beginning. My DD is parked outside 24/7 and is driven more than the other two vehicles. If I wash mine and don't get to hers I hear about it anymore. And it isn't because it is mine. It is because it is the dirtiest.
  2. As long as there isn't a line waiting to get in and wash, I don't see an issue. Go really early or really late when there is no traffic. My guess would be that either an employee saw you doing it, and didn't like the idea, regardless if there wasn't a line. Or there was a line and someone complained.
  3. Use your plumbers putty? Plumbing is pretty easy IMO. Hope that it all worked out in your favor.
  4. Spent the morning cleaning up my DD and the truck. I always find something new that irritates me. Thinking I may have some beginning stages of clear coat failure on my DD. So Saturday off to the dealer to have it looked at. I know what it is, being that I experienced the same stuff on my truck. It was repainted under warranty. Had to pull the door trim that was starting to come loose. Will re attach that with some double sided 3M tape next weekend. Then after all the time I spent cleaning the truck the wife wants a dump run. It is usually clean, unless they send you to the pit. Guess where they sent me? At least the flock of seagulls didn't target the truck. Had to come home and clean it up again. Was fairly easy being that it wasn't on there long. It needs a full clean up here soon anyhow.
  5. Everything that the wife has wanted done. Pulling weeds. I tried to get a car wash in tonight, and hope to wrap it up in the morning.
  6. If it were TV ads, that would explain it. I don't watch much. And I'm sure it was an ad that was played a lot on sports venues. Not into sports at all. Call me weird.
  7. You can do anything you want to now. The paint is cured. I'm not under 40, so I don't get it.

  9. Tools. My wife is always complaining until she needs something fixed. Bought a shaper about 10 years ago, and haven't had the chance to use it yet. It will be a fun one to play with come retirement.
  10. Did this yesterday, but it was the last thing I wanted to do after being on vacation. Ordered all the parts while on vacation, and they were home when I returned. Had to update my manabloc, being that new supply fittings weren't available for the older version. It was starting to leak where the hot water tied in. Older supply fittings used more of a hose type washer. New version is an O-ring. They are proprietary fittings, so regular stuff won't work. Took me about an hour to tear out the old one, replace the supply fittings and hook everything back up. Zero leaks. Old one out. New one in.
  11. "Swirl from a squirrel"......lol. That made me laugh. Great write up.
  12. Everything that is offered in a gallon jug.
  13. And when you do get to cut the grass it is so tall that it bogs down the lawnmower. I'm in the same boat. Rain and cold. However vacation this week has been fantastic.
  14. I have one as well and it is now 5 years old and the underside looks perfect. I use a product called Fluid Film and coat it every fall. It works really well. I have bought the rattle cans by the case off of Amazon, however this year I will be buying a kit with a sprayer and a 1 gallon pail that I will hook to my air compressor, now that I have enough CFM. http://www.fluid-film.com/automotive-applications/ You can see in the two pictures I posted where it has been sprayed. I just took the picture to show a side by side comparison to the what was treated and what wasn't. The rust on the rear diff and what not has been there since day one and still looks the same.
  15. It is actually an option that customers have wanted and allows them to get the cheapest shipping possible by passing it to the post office. It is cheaper than regular ground shipping. The customer shipping the package decides whether to ship something sure post or smart post, FedEx or UPS doesn't decide that. The idea is that the post office is already going to your house or street already every day, where as FedEx or UPS may not. Thus making the trip to deliver a ground package on a street for one package cost more for both FedEx and UPS, which is why it is passed to the post office being they are going there everyday already. And it is only done so if it is marked by the shipper as a smart post or sure post package. And without going into details, technology allows them recognize when there may be multiple sure post or smart post packages going to a street on any given day and those packages may not even get delivered by the post office and are left for FedEx or UPS to deliver.
  16. Not sure why you think they charge more for those delivery services when it is the bottom of the barrel and actually the cheapest. Unless I'm not understanding what you're saying.
  17. You need the right tool. I have a whole tool set that is designed for this purpose and works on every set of shocks out there. https://www.amazon.com/STEELMAN-78554-39-Piece-Strut-Installation/dp/B00JQZQOKK/ref=sr_1_1?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1493478348&sr=1-1&keywords=steelman+shock+strut+tool
  18. That looks like it was a fun job. I'm sure it was a privilege to work on a car like that. Just curious though as to how you come across that one? I think the owner should just trade you the Porsche since the yellow looks good in front of your house. Looks like it generated some attention in the neighborhood too. Thanks for sharing.
  19. One of the best things I did was buy a master blaster. I held off for so long because of the price. When I finally got it, I wondered why I had waited. That thing is awesome.
  20. Ordered it from Metrovac. It was $15.00. https://www.metrovacworld.com/parts/123_Cord_MVC_295MVC_295
  21. Anybody else have an issue? While drying my car last weekend I noticed that the ground prong was extremely loose. I grabbed it and it fell off in my hands. Ordered up a new cord and replaced it. Had a hang up with pulling the rear cover off, I used a pick that was angled at 90 degrees, and it come out fairly easy. I even tried pulling on the bolt that secures the knob over the filter and couldn't get it to come loose. Hardest part was figuring out how the wire grommet worked. You squeeze it. Replaced the wire and wire nuts and am good to go. I was surprised how much dust was in there even with a filter. I ordered some filters a while back, but have seemed to have hid them from myself. Ordered some more. Yes, I could have just cut the plug portion off, and replaced it, but I chose not to. You can see the dust ring below after I had wiped it out. I was surprised how much was in there even with a filter. Had to trim the rubber back on the new cord to match the old. The wire grommet. All back together with new wire nuts on the wires I took apart. New and old cord ends showing the missing ground prong. Ground prong that fell off.
  22. Idaho?....lol. Find it funny when the Adams site changes abbreviations to what is sold.
  23. Congratulations to the two of you. I missed this. Brian. I know he makes me feel old knowing that I have had the same job longer than he has been alive. And it doesn't seem that long ago.
  24. That almost looks like glue from the double sided 3M tape holding the moulding to the door. Hard to tell from the picture though.
