  1. The ear protection that I picked up I can actually still hear things around me, but they are subtle and it takes out frequencies that hurt. If that makes sense. For example, when polishing and stopping, I can still faintly hear the radio, and the radio itself isn't turned up. But when I drain my air compressor, I don't really hear it at all. To be honest there are things that I wish I would have done differently over my life. Wearing more ear protection is one of them.
  2. With getting older I know my hearing is getting worse. I'm sure it from years of driving loud diesels, too many concerts as a youngster, and being married. I ordered up some hearing protection a while back for the purpose of doing things around the yard. Lawn mowing, etc. I also use them when draining my air compressor, as that thing seriously hurts my ears. While doing a detail over the weekend, I felt that running polishers and my master blaster was hard on the ears too. I found that wearing hearing protection made it more enjoyable. My kid teases me now and I tell him that one day he won't be so invincible and wish that he made adjustments in his younger years. Do any you others wear hearing protection while detailing?
  3. Spray the crap out of it with some penetrating oil. It may help. An air hammer probably would help too. As far as your tires, coat the mating surface with some white lithium grease and you won't have that problem. You don't have to do it every time you remove the tire either. I did the ones on my truck probably 3 years ago. I will put some more on next time I have the tires off for rotation. I was literally laying under the truck and kicking it with the bottom of my foot. Along with pounding on tire with a big plastic sledge hammer.
  4. I thought you were trying to wet sand it and remove it. With the high and lows of orange peel, by the time you start to get the lows fixed you have cut through the highs in the clear. Looks like you just polished it and I think it turned out well.
  5. He sold these yellow ones in the beginning of time. Door jamb duty now.
  6. http://www.standox.com/content/dam/EMEA/Standox/HQ/Public/Documents/English/Standotheks/THK_Paint_Defects_GB.pdf Not sure how well the link below works. I have always been told that if there are clear coat issues, the whole panel needs repainted. https://garage.eastwood.com/eastwood-chatter/how-to-repair-clearcoat-defects/
  7. I'm in the same boat. We got 1.98 inches of rain on Thursday alone. Normal for the whole month of March is 1.79 inches. I want to wash my cars without the help of mother nature. She doesn't do it right. I did manage to throw down some fertilizer and sprayed for bill bugs. Yes, bugs. I have usually done it later (April) and my timing is late. Even with what I have read. So this year, I'm hoping I did it early enough.
  8. Are you closing the sprayer when you're done? Turning it to the "X". I have had the issue with non Adams and Adams sprayers doing the same thing, but never have the issue when closing the sprayer when I'm done with the product.
  9. I wonder if having an air hammer with enough cfm would have made a difference. When I did my kids upper ball joints last year, I know I would have never been able to drive the old rivets out without one. Was wanting to do a full detail on my DD today, but the crappy weather put the kibosh on that.
  10. Who is teaching who? Now we all know who really keeps his ride clean.
  11. I hope the plumber didn't rake you over the coals. You could have easily done it. Some may not care to play with stuff like this. But I do feel if people realized how easy a lot of the home repair stuff like this is, they would cringe at what plumbers charge. Electrical is another one that is quite simple too, yet they charge an arm and a leg.

  13. Cleaned the garage a bit. Changed two carburetors out on my lawn equipment. They start super easy now. Drained the gas out of the snowblower and ran it dry to put it away. Changed the blade on the lawn mower and cleaned the old one up so that I can resharpen it and balance it. Mowed the lawn. Next weekend will be a detail on my trashed DD. Anybody that is having issues with stuff not starting you can probably buy a new carburetor on Amazon for dirt cheap.
  14. Not if you melt it slowly. It took me about 30 minutes to heat it. I suggested trying this a long time ago, as others where using a scentsy candle warmer to do it and then dump it back into the container. First time I have done it to my wax. I had been doing it for years with my honey when it would crystalize. Just make sure the Mrs. is going to be gone a bit so she doesn't see you using her pan. I found that it took about 30 minutes to completely cool down afterwards too. You don't want to heat it fast. I have a gas stove and had it turned down to the absolute lowest setting.
  15. Just a friendly tip, pick up another bucket and grit guard. Injuries are no fun. Hope that it heals well.
  16. My guess was the car was probably in an accident and the body shop didn't do the paint job right, clear coat and color match. I would take it to a good body shop. Trying to polish it may be just a bandaid. They may catch things you're not seeing and issues that may come up down the road.
  17. Like any other addict on here, it will be your first order for the week.
  18. What are you guys talking about? I wore shorts today and plan on doing so every day this week. First full week of the year to be able to wear shorts.
  19. Lol. I think if most looked at the picture closely you can see what resembles to be a pooch looking out the window.
  20. I knew it was detached. Electric heat would be even easier to install, IMO. Although your right about cost if you had it heated constantly. But for those times you want to go out there and play, it may be worth it. If I lived closer, I would help you insulate it. http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/category_heaters-stoves-fireplaces+electric-heaters+electric-garage-industrial-heaters
  21. Welcome. Women always have the best introductions. Correct me if I'm wrong, but is that your dog in the car? Looks like an Irish Setter?
  22. Get one. Dig a trench from your gas meter to your garage, have a plumber run a gas line and hook up a heater. http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/category_heaters-stoves-fireplaces+natural-gas-heaters+natural-gas-garage-heaters
  23. Did the last brake fluid flush on my vehicles. This one was a pig and took about 80 ounces for a complete flush. The worst part was I couldn't suck the old fluid out of the reservoir and fill with fresh to start the process. Had to suck it all out thru the right rear. The others wheels went much faster. Everything will get a bath tomorrow. C'mon Spring.
