BKazzle got a reaction from 99Hawk in To foam cannon or to pressure washer..
I think it takes me an extra 5 minutes total to roll out my pressure washer and put it away. I personally don't think it's inconvenient at all and 5m may even be a stretch. I even hate my pressure washer, but they replaced it at no charge or exchange and now I have 2...so I have no reason to get rid of it (them).

    Skip the cannon...get a pressure washer...get a foam gun.

My process: Rinse with pressure washer, disconnect hose from PW (quick connect), connect to foam gun (quick connect), use my preferred wash method, rinse with hose (not PW)

    Just my opinion.

Consider dumping the big drying towels and use a smaller towel. Wet it down, wring it out and spray your product of choice on it.

BKazzle reacted to Ricky Bobby in micro fiber won't absorb liquid
When a MF towel is dry (especially plusher naps), they do not absorb liquids well at all.  When doing a wipedown with DS or rinseless, what have you, spritz the towel a few times on each side to "prime it" a bit, it should glide over the surface easier.

Or, you may be using too much product on the surface (DS is really meant to be a light wipe product, 2-3 sprays per panel max, whereas Waterless or diluted Rinseless you can saturate the surface well), in which case you need to follow up with a towel that doesnt get saturated with dirt and product.

And yes, if you toss dry towels into a bucket of water they will just float on top and not sink, you have to dunk the towels to get them to absorb water, thats normal.  Actually when I dry my cars I usually wet a 16x16 plush towel (think double soft) with a hose, squeeze it out so its not wet but damp, then spritz 1-2 sprays on the towel, and my wet cars surface, and go over it real quick to get most of the water off the surface (I get about 80% dry this way) then just follow up with my waffle weave to wipe the rest to a streak free shine, its very quick and efficient.

Not sure if any of this clears up anything, but here it goes...

Pic 1: Here's what it looked like at 6:17pm. The rubbing/smearing you see if from me slightly rubbing it this morning (it was still a tad wet in high spots). At the time of taking this pic it was all dry and pretty sticky. (think dried on soda)

Pretty hard to pick up on camera, but at certain angles you could see it. (transparent)

    Pic 2: From different angle

Pic 3: Rubbing it pretty hard with short nap microfiber towel.

Pic 4: A finishing polish (Reflect) easily removed it. (by hand)

Here is where it looks most like the pic provided by the OP. This is the over spray part (next 4 pics). I tested it in a spot not pictured and it was not coming off with vigorous rubbing. A finishing polish (as expected) made quick work of it done by hand with a short nap microfiber towel. Obviously I way over applied it, so in reality my situation shouldn't happen at all.

Next four pictures show my attempt at removing it with IPA mixed with a rinse-less wash product...

Didn't completely remove the dripping, so it seems that a finishing polish is the best option (no surprise there). Was hard to get it pictured.

Not sure if this helps the OP as it was already stated that a finishing polish would clear it up, but even after way over applying it I didn't seem to quite get the exact results as the OP (but maybe I did).

LOL, very true!  I thought the halogens showed a lot until I fired this one up.

When I first used them, I was showing them off to my neighbor and turned them on the rear quarter of the car I was polishing.  There was an 'oh crap' moment with all the scratches that showed up.

7:33pm CST - Pretty hard to see after 13m of setting

Will report back tomorrow with my findings. Looks like I will get different results after taking a peek 5m ago. (7:55pm CST)

Ask if they have used all the supposed best wash medias out there to compare the sea sponge to.

    Here's the problem...

Too many people throw around the word 'best' that are not qualified IMO. It can't be THE BEST if that person hasn't used nearly everything (realistically) in a specific category. It's ok if a person says "It's the best ________ I've used", but then that's when you question them and ask how many other _______ have they used.

...and by qualified, I mean someone that has used a lot of different products. You see this kind of "best" stuff on car forums a lot. Irritates me.

Someone once told me that _______ is the best shampoo ever!....they had only used 3 shampoos at the time. Now how is that person qualified to say a specific shampoo is the best?

Why would you not use the pressure washer everytime?

There are debates that 2BM is just as safe as a foam gun or cannons are useless, blah blah blah...

...But how can anything be safer than using 2 rinse buckets with grit guards and using your foam gun as your 'wash bucket'? The video above is probably the one where Larry illustrates what I'm talking about.

Foam cannons are ok and the detergent dwelling does help somewhat, but not enough for my taste. Even "snow foams" are overrated IMO.

I'll take a pressure washer rinse and a foam gun wash over anything any day...except when a rinseless wash is usable. My opinions of course, but I do try everything before I form them--most of the time.
