  1. Is that dylan wearing dustin padroias jersey out there. I cant help but make that comparison everytime he comes up to the plate.
  2. Thanks guys, I park in a heated underground garage at work, so the afternoon commute is never an issue...it is the overnight snow/freezing rain that worries me. Master Blaster, eh? I'll have to give my sidekick a try, although im sure its nowhere near as hot or powerful as the master.
  3. The depressing months of winter are approaching fast. In the ever growing quest to eliminate swirls, the thought crossed my mind, how do I clear the car of snow/ice during the winter. For starters, the garage is not a consideration, too much stuff in there for a car, so the car gets the deep freeze on the driveway. In past years, I have always had a beater, and never really cared about the paint. (3 late 90's Saturn S series cars for which i paid under $1500 each). My method involved a shop broom for the painted surfaces, and a snow brush for the windsheild/windows. Clearly, this method would be worse than a single bucket/single rag wash, forget the 2 bucket 3 mit, foam rinsing swirl avoidance measures. A 36" shop broom does not mix well with good paint. Warming the car up for 2 hours every morning is not an option haha. Also, I know some people may say, just leave the snow, it will blow off/ice will fall off as you drive. I always hate those idiots driving with mounds of snow on their vehicles. I find it unsafe for near them on the road. Car will be getting a polish and a MSS application this weekend, depending on time, it'll get the brilliant glaze and double americana application as well. Do I just saw to hell with it, get the snow off and correct pain in spring?
  4. it's getting there, had some thick frost on the car this morning. They are predicting a long winter in Eastern Ontario this year. Apparently abnormal animal behavior (larger than normal food reserves and earlier hybernation).
  5. Really missed the mark on the styling.
  6. Just a note, font colour of pricing makes it invisible to people using the dark theme. Try white or black font, but dark gray is not legible.
  7. you should post this up on garage journal. Looks great!

    GTA V

I think i am at about 40% of the game play. Some of the missions are truely awesome. Had some friends over on sunday, and we easily killed 2 hours doing random stuff in the game. Golf, Tennis, jumping cars, stealing fire trucks/planes, etc. I haven't been to the prison yet, I think tonight I'm going to venture over there and likely get killed by some guards.
  9. Looks awesome man! turned out well! Cudos to Adam's for sending you some decals.
  10. Congrats!! Looks like a great day. Looks alot like my wedding from on september 7th. Ceremony in a corn field atop a hill overlooking a valley. Reception in a rural country setting, was actually an agriculture museum which has recreated my wifes home towns Main Street from the mid 1900's. Unfortunately we don't have our pictures back from the photographer yet.
  11. well that's no where near Ottawa. Good luck with sale, I'd have taken it.
  12. adamspolishes.ca has the flex or cyclo. No duties, the price is the same as the american price. Just pay tax and shipping. Dexter is great, give him a call. (204) 510 3399 They ship out of Manitoba. Edit: also, i bought a PC, have used it 3 times now, and regret not getting the flex. Money was tight, and is still tight so an upgrade is a long way away.
  13. pullover...zippers and washing cars do not mix!
  14. Waterless wash if you have it, spray on liberally and let it sit. If not, hot water and white vinegar, soak it, even soak the cloth and lay it ontop of the spot to allow it to absorb/soak in. After a few minutes use a clean towel to remove bug. don't wipe in a flat motion, roll the towel as you pass the spot, so that only clean towel contacts the surface, and the dirt is pulled up and away.

    GTA V

Saturday was a rain day, and my wife was working, which meant I had all day to play GTA and vacuum the bedroom. Needless to say the vacuuming did not get done. I absolutely love Trevor. the guy is such a weapon.

    GTA V

I bought it on release day, only got about 2hrs of seat time in on it, and while it is so impressive, the start is a bit slow if you follow the missions. I struggle with the driving function in the game, likely user error, but i find it extremely sensitive and i keep wrecking because i take corners way too sharply. Sucks when the cops are on you. I will get used to it though with more time playing. I love the characters so far, and i love how it makes you feel like you are controlling a movie from 3 different angles. The story is setting up to be a great one.
  17. Yeah, that's my big dillema. 3 years from now we may have a kid or 2 and the escape may not be big enough. Still looking at used car options, but the monthly ends up to be nearly identical, less warranty, but overall less cost, and in 2 years would be paid off. Ultimately it does come down to getting paid every month and what we can reasonable afford to spend every month. Which sometimes makes the big/longterm picture cloudy.
  18. Parliament Hill definitely, free tours. Canadian War Museum is very cool, We have Canadian Science and Tech, Canadian Civilization (gatineau, quebec) and Canadian museum of Nature. Thursday nights are free nights. Check out the byward market for some awesome bars/restaurantes. Another bustling spot with good eats is Preston Street. Would recommend Heart and Crown for nice pub food. Since you're here, the Rideau Canal is very nice, you can rent a bike and cycle it. Kanata is about 25 minute bus/car ride into the downtown core. The national arts center is popular for great concerts and shows, not sure what the schedule is like next week. School is back, so Carleton University and University of Ottawa will be swaming with students, ie scandelously clad young ladies everywhere. People watching downtown is great this time of year . Kanata has some nice golf courses and of course Canadian Tire Center (where the Leafs beat the Sens last night).
  19. My wife and I are contemplating trading her 2005 Altima in on a new vehicle. At this point we are very open to purchasing used, leasing or financing new. Last night we test drove an Chevy Equinox, Chevy Orlando (Canada only), Santa Fe, Mazda CX-5, Ford Escape SEL, would consider a Ford Edge used. No matter which vehicle, leather/heated seats and remote start are a must. I am a GM guy through and through, the Orlando handles like a small car, but even with the 170hp 2.4L it has absolutely no get up and go, struggled to pass someone on a 4 lane highway. Also the gentle wind at high speeds really was noticeable in the vehicle. So we axed that one. The loaded Equinox was nice, the tester only had the 2.4L which is also way under powered. My parents have a 2011 Equinox with the 4 cyl and it too needs to be floored in order to pass someone. Santa Fe didn't really do it for me, the new ones seem a bit big. Mazda CX-5 has very nice styling, but the motor too is weak. Ford escape, SEL, 2.0L ecoboost. 260hp, decent accel, decent mileage and fully loaded. To be honest, we both fell in love with it, comfortable ride, attractive, and peppy, leather heat roof etc. The tech is a bit over the top, and pissed me off. Takes 5 minutes to speak to the computer to change temp, when it takes a microsecond to hit the button. Still a neat feature, just not my cup of tea. So, we figure we have about $6,000 for the trade in value on her car. Going through Ford, we get a $1000 Costco rebate, as well as Employee Pricing at the moment. Purchase Price is $35,500 after employee pricing. To lease, we are looking at $0 down, 36 year lease 25,000km mileage for $365/month with a $19,500 buy back. To Finance, we are looking at 0.99% 5 year purchase, $5000 down payment, for $510/month. At the end of year 3, the vehicle will be valued at 19,500. Lease will be up, and our total invested is a $6000 car + $13,140 = $19,140. Financing will be 60% complete, our total invested will be $6000 car + $5,000 dp + 18360 = 29,360 (We will owe +/- 10,000). So at the end of year 3, we will have paid an extra 10K towards the car (finance vs lease), but have 10K in equity (value 19,000). In my mind is a net zero after 3 years. During those 3 years, the 5K down payment used for financing can be saved for either around the house expenses, or to put towards building our next house, all of which will earn us some interest in savings. On a 3 year plan, the leasing seems to be the much more attractive solution. The kicker is "what about year 4, year 5, year 7". The concensus seems to be to simply keep upgrading every 3 years and settle with a consistent monthly payment forever. Or buy new, pay off in 5, and keep for 8-10? 5 years of no payments could be viewed as a "savings" of +/- 30K + the quity after 10 years, say 5K. Put you well ahead after 10 years. I have always bought used cars before simply because i could usually work on them myself and figured i would let other handle the depreciation. Any advice/help? Thanks!
  20. use it once in your bathroom, and never again will you buy off the shelf products like Mr. Clean or VIM. The stuff is amazing.
  21. why not a early nineties miata, slicks and LS engine? that'd be a fun little car!
  22. I made the mistake of leaving the nozzle on spray rather than in the off position, lost 2 inches in a week. Was in the map meshing behind drivers seat, I also leave my work shoes on the floor of the back seat, detail spray leaked into my dress shoes, no more foot odor!!
  23. I have one 500w work light, need a stand for it though, I currently set it on my garbage can..haha
