Well, there you go. "Vote with your dollar" that says alot.

I've always loved Adams Polishes and recommend them to everyone. 90% of my products are Adams. It isn't so much the chemicals I'm upset with (they still rock) it's the gimmicky direction I feel the company has taken which cheapens it's appeal. This company is great and got my business because of what it was and what it stood for. I've seen Adam's explanation about Chinese products and such. I've read numerous posts.

I'm simply stating that recent rebranding of some items and the price tag associated with those items are very different than what we would have seen and expected several years ago.

I never fault anyone for growing a business and making a ton of money. I applaud that and I'm and advocate of Entrepreneurship and success. However, it's pretty disrespectful to build such a great customer base then tell them to vote with their dollars when they try to give feedback to you.

I know I'm not the only one who agrees with my opinion though I see I'm in the minority on the forums. I just figured I'd state what I know many are thinking and hopefully this post thread will enable some to also express their dislike for the direction of the company.

I 100% agree with you.  I'm not a fan of this gimmicky direction they have taken at all.

I've been using Adam's products since 2011, and like you've mentioned, they have changed so much.  I noticed the biggest change in the company after Dylan left and Matt came in.

I'm not going to bash Adam's, but I will say this:  I used to be 100% Adam's and wouldn't even dare consider another brand, but that is no longer the case for me.  I've discovered other brands that remind me of the old Adam's.  So I guess I'm voting with my dollar.

Another thing that used to impress me about Adam's was the customer service.  But I've experienced 2 situations that were not handled in the way that they used to be.  Out of respect, I won't go into the details of that.

But I know for fact that we are not the only ones feeling this way.  I've talked with many different people at car shows that are saying the same things.  We are not alone.

With the recent release of the new Adam's website and a few products (re-branded pressure washer) I've noticed some major push back on Facebook about the direction of the company. I have to agree. I've been a huge supporter and advocate of this company for several years now, but I'm starting to think they have abandoned the true detailing community for high profit sales. There was a time when Adam did not want to sell items made in China (now it seems everything they sell is), he was also involved in the forums and detailing community, as well as the strict development of quality products. Also it seems since the exit of Dylan, this company has declined quite quickly. I know I'm not alone, but I fear no one on this forum will back me. Thoughts?

ramflava reacted to shane@detailedreflections in The power of steam cleaning
    Hey guys,

Anyone who follows any of my posts here knows that I'm a big fan of cleaning with steam.  It's one of my "go to" answers when people have a question about how to clean something.  We use steam a lot because it's safe, allows us to reduce the amount of product we use and because it's effective.

We had a Nissan 350Z in this week that had a nasty gas cap.  I decided I was going to video the steaming of the area for demonstration purposes.  You'll see we didn't wipe it until the end.  Our steamer allows us to inject some product right through the steamer.  So we use Eco APC diluted with water.  The steamer kind of allows it to foam up a bit as you'll see.  We still had to do some wiping in the end, but it mobilized a good amount of the contamination inside the filler area as you'll see.

The steamer we use is a professional grade steamer.  It runs at a slightly higher pressure (135psi) than most home models.  We used to use the McColluch MC1385 which is a great steamer for weekend warrior use and even light professional.  The downside is that you can't fill it once it's hot.  The plus side, you can have one in your hands for under $200.  Once you start cleaning with steam, you'll see why more and more people are using it.  In fact, if I were ever to have someone else do detail work on my car one of my questions would be if they have a steamer.

There's zero editing in the video.  It's straight real time, no cool soundtrack over it.  Just some straight steaming...Sorry if the video is a little boring and repetitive at times.  I just let the camera roll until I was happy with the finished product.

    Hopefully this works...

Just gave the vehicle back to the owner. It's still noticeable, but definitely much improved. He was extremely happy. This opened up the door to working on several other vehicles of his.

    Does it look like this?

This is 'checking' or 'crows feet', and I have it on the factory painted areas of my truck(this is not a picture of my truck, just one I borrowed).  It appeared after I started using a polisher, and I expect the older paint and the concentrated heat did not play well together.  I also saw it happen on another truck I worked on.  It is under the paint, and the surface is smooth, and looks good from 10 feet or so.

Here are some pics of some black cars/trucks that I've detailed with varoius issues. No wetsanding done at all in any picture. Flex 3401 with Adams two step (sometimes three step) paint correction, clay bar, Brilliant Glaze, and Buttery, Americana, and Patriot wax used on various vehicles. Hope these help.

Well, I swallowed my pride and I'm eating humble pie. The need for a good polisher at an affordable cost has caused me to give the SK a try. Although I still dislike that it is made in China, I will give it a go. I've read good things about the SK, so I just bought one.

Now that you mention it, I think I remember that video too. Well, it is his company and he must to what is best for it. Not everyone will agree with his every move, but if it works I can understand the move. I still don't think I'll be buying any polishers from Adams, but I still love most everything else. All I have for polishers are the PC and Cyclo. Maybe I'll just save a bit longer and go for a Rupes.

Thanks for pointing that out though. I won't be buying these now.

I try and support American made stuff as much as I can. It's nearly impossible to avoid Chinese products altogether. I fly a US military aircraft for a living, and even that has some stuff made in China. I have the Rupes mini AND the larger swirl killer. While the Rupes is a beautiful machine, the SK isn't far behind. It may lack the power somewhat, but it's really a nicely built machine and a great deal. I went from the PC to the SK, and it is a major upgrade.

To make taping less involved I typically will apply VRT to any trim before polishing or layering. With a fresh coat of VRT, any excess product simply wipes away. Once I'm done I reapply a coat of VRT to even it out make sure I didn't miss any spots or product.
