How 'bout both? The Highlander is done. I'd say the correction level was up over 95%. The rock chips are still there along with a handful of RIDS but from five+ feet away it looks awesome! I started at 8:30 AM and finished about 5:30PM. Strip wash, clay, competitor's MF system ( 2 passes compound, 1 pass polish) glass sealed and SVRT on tires and trim. Then the neighbors had us over for cocktails (Maker's Mark 46 and Coke) and dinner, yum!

Either you're a speed demon or I'm slow. It took me 20 hours to do the same one a Mustang this past weekend. I also did the interior and engine bay, but bought only account for about two hours of that time.

can you order one for me too?

Sorry!  It almost killed me to order the one for me.  I'll have 1500+ in it by the time I'm done with paint.  I also have to have the hood RE-painted since the prior place messed it up, and I need to get the door handles I ordered from AU painted to match as well.  The chrome is on its way out!  I already replaced all the door trim with the black trim from AU.

Last week, last years local Homecoming Queen called me and asked if I could escort her with the Corvette at the local football game. The Corvette was perfectly detailed and put away for winter. At that time the forecast was favorable so I agreed. The weather took a turn for the worse  I got to the school and find myself driving through 6 inches of muddy slop. Two laps around the track. Got home and tried to hose off the mud. I put the car inside on the lift and had cinder and mud coating the whole undercarriage of the car. Tried to wipe more mud off...... But guess what? Yep DOG CRAP...... :P  Today I moved my lift outside and pressure washed the whole undercarriage.  put the lift back inside and used the master blaster to dry the whole car. Waterless washed, detailed the tires and wheels and put away for the winter. Sometimes being a nice guy is frustrating. :D

It sounds as though you and I have the same luck.  At least you have the necessary equipment to give it thorough cleaning.

Then my pressure washer developed a leak that will require pump removal....... Then I broke the spring on the glove box door. And the Alternator sounds like it is rattling..... Yep I had some pretty bad luck this weekend.

It must be in the air.  My kids bicycle seemed to be one thing after another.  First it was the bottom bracket.  And I must have went to 5 different stores looking for the part.  Finally found it.  Told the guy behind the counter he was my hero.  Get it home put it together.  Then the old bolts that hold the pedals on are too small.  Go to the bike shop and buy new bolts.  Get home and am cleaning up and the box has a rattle in it.  There in another compartment in the box is my bolts.  Then the kid tells me his free wheel in the back is acting up.  Sure enough.  Tear the wheel off and go down to buy another one.  The guy at the bike shop offers to throw the new one on at no charge.  Get it home and it is set up for a right side drive and not left.  So basically he had to ride his bike backwards.  Take it back and they keep it over night to retrieve right part from the other store, and I got it back tonight and together again.  And all is good, finally.

Spent the day framing around a trunk line.  A few more walls to go, and a couple of closets and the framing phase should be done.  Came home and painted most of the front door.  Committed to the wife that I would have my painting of the doors done tomorrow.  Weather should be decent.  Love this time of year and early spring as there is no water (lawn), gas (furnace), or electric bill (air conditioner).

Went to a local junk yard looking for some leather powered seats for the S-10 out of a TB, Blazer, or the like with no luck. I did manage to pull out a replacement passenger window since mine has some very deep scratches in it (PO said a horse scrapped his bit against it) and some interior light switches for my dad. Got home and jacked up the truck to start working at removing the motor mounts for replacement and to pull the oil pan since it's been leaking since I bought the truck. Found out that the shop I had replace the clutch cross-threaded one of the bolts on the exhaust flange when it snapped off. Guess I'll be spending a good bit of my day tomorrow getting it out.

Came home from the beach!  Spent the last few days chillin' on a lounge chair, under an umbrella, reading books!  Very relaxing, and not too hot with the sea breezes.  Also had some excellent food too.  Now I need have unpack and wash the truck!

Decided that next Saturday I will be up and out the door, by 0500 and headed to Idaho to grab at least 3 tons of pellets.  May grow to 4 or 5 tons depending on how much Mom and my brother want.  Ran the numbers and found that I would still come out ahead, even with fuel in comparison to local prices.

Hate it when you purchase a new item that is defective and wonder why everything isn't working right,  Not realizing your item is defective.  And it seems to be worse when you feel like your chasing your tail trying to figure out why, when it is something you have done numerous times with out any issues.

Buddy of mine took me out today for my trucks maiden voyage on a decent offroad trail.  Hit up a spot outside of tucson, az that ended in mammoth, az.  good mix of slow climbs and technical sections and all out sandy wash running.

had a damn good time - took a while to get used to the width of the raptor compared to the jeep im used to wheeling, but caught on quick and before i knew it was running 70 in the wash like it was nothing.

on to the pics!

on the way home got behind another white raptor - a scab this time..

all in all - had a great day.  also figured out that im gonna have to get mudflaps, despite how much i hate them.  all i heard today was the sound of rocks and pebbles beating away at the paint, bottom of the steps, and the entire bottom of the truck - evident in the vid.

cant wait to get out again!!

Be careful with mud flaps.  I'am in the same dilemma.  I bought factory flaps on another vehicle I bought brand new and I pulled them off to see if there was any wear about a year later.  Sure enough on 3 of the 4 wheels the flaps had rubbed the paint to bare metal.

what kind of vehicle?  and what kind of flaps?

It was a 2000 Chevy pickup, that I bought brand new.  I bought the factory molded flaps from the dealer.  I have heard of some having that clear bra material applied to the area behind where a mud flap would sit to prevent wear.  But I haven't looked into it much.  I have a 2011 GMC Duramax that I'am wanting to figure out a mud flap set up for the exact reason you described in your post.

Cleaned up the Hot Wheel and went to the Blackhawk Auto Museum for the first-Sunday-of-the-month "Cars & Coffee".  There were 31 Gen5 Camaros there.  We drove in with the Corvette Syndicate and we had a fantastic Chevy section of the lot.

I did some touch-ups just before we drove in with Interior Detailer, Super VRT, Glass Cleaner and Detail Spray.

gotcha.  i dont like the molded ones - good thing is no one makes them for the raptor.  im looking at the raptor specific (just a logo) flaps from proven design products.  seem pretty popular amongst the raptor brethren.

  • 2 weeks later...

Got up at 0500 made a pot of coffee went downstairs and turned up the pellet stove to 73 and fell back to sleep.  Rotated tires on the truck.  Changed the all wheel drive oil in my DD.  Dealer wanted 98 bucks for 5 minutes of work yesterday when I took it in for a free oil change that was part of the car purchase last year.  Painted 2 man doors off the garage and replaced the door sweeps.  Replaced the door seal on the bottom of the garage door.  Washed the DD.  Then went over to a friends house and pulled and clean the carburetor on his tiller, as it wouldn't start.  Started first pull.

sighted in my new Colt LE6940, able to hit 20x30" steel plate at 350 yds standing, as well as a 6" plate at 100 yds, using an Eotech red dot w/3x magnifier - also sighted in my FNH Scar 17s (.308) using a Nikon 5-20x44 Monarch BDC scope - 350 yds was a breeze with this, but using a bipod.  had a grip pod on it and laying in a prone position had a 4" grouping with 50 rounds at 110 yards.

then went on a little jeep trail, came home, went to a wine/beer tasting charity event, came home took the fam to dinner, came back home and cleaned the guns.  double checked the pins on the sights of my Mathews Z9, tuned for my broadheads and got it ready for jackrabbit hunting tomorrow.  gonna take the Colt AR as well.  should be a good time.

:bravo: Busy man!  And pretty talented as well..

I mean you're so good, you can rotate tires, change the AWD oil, paint the garage doors, replace the door sweeps and seal, wash the DD, and clean a carburetor, all in your sleep.. WOW!

Not many can do all that awake!
