Gum!? Oh Noes! Any Hope?

So apparently a careless soul left some gum on the ground for me to step in. Now it resides near my accelerator pedal on the floor mat (at least). Did not actually notice it for a while and it has been ground in a bit...Any magic to remove? Or just buy new mats...?

Carpet? Whatever comes with new BMW's. They are not all-weather or anything fancy.

Peanut butter.  Really.

Ice cubes.  Freeze it with an ice cube, then peel it off.

Also if that fails, WD-40.

 

WD-40 is a cleaner/gum dissolver, works great on taking adhesive off.  Gum it should take care of in a jiffy.

I second peanut butter. A quicker way to freeze it is take a can of compressed air and spray with the can upside down. Then try some APC diluted 50/50 to get any stragglers.

I was in the same situation at one point but it some how got on the front of the back seat. Like someone placed it there I did the 50/50 dilution of the APC let it sit and it came right off. Was going to try peanut butter but just seemed like it would make more of a mess.

Had this happen to me the other day.  Funny thing is there was no gum on my shoe.  But there was a wad of it on my floor mat.  Put a little Goo Gone on it and removed it in seconds with a paper towel.  Came up all in one piece.  Had a bit of a smell of the Goo Gone for a couple days, but that is now gone.
