Polishing Pads Have A New Color

well after my detail this weekend i threw my foam polishing pads into the washer and let them soak for a little while. well i wasnt thinking when i did this because i had a red pad that hadnt been used yet and some of the white pads had revive on them. needless to say the pads have all changed colors. the white ones are purple, the yellow and orange ones are just a nasty lookin. this wont affect the pads performance will it? thanks!

Maybe there was some residual bleach left in the washer than discolored them? I would bet as long as you wash out the harsh chemicals that changed their colors your good to go

Why are you putting them in the washer?

 

I usually use Dawn and clean them out in the kitchen sink and then let soak in a bucket of hot water. You're not machine washing them are you?

 

Color won't change a thing. You may look "pretty" when polishing though... lol

That is correct if they are stained it won't hurt a thing. I wash mine with APC and hot water.

If you had the red one in there with them, then I'd say the red color bled. I remember when my son was in college. He washed his red shirt with his underwear.............ended up with very pink drawers. And then he dried them in the microwave.

 

He got all new underwear the next weekend.

i was runnin on 2 hours of sleep the past 2 days and had my head inserted in my you know what...i was like a zombie after i got that car done and wasnt thinking and just threw them in with the microfiber towlels....normally i do the APC and hot water. ill wash them out again by hand just to make sure everything is out of them. i just hope i dont get labeled the pretty detailer for using pretty pads lol...thanks everyone
