  1. I have the Sam's lights as well but haven't put them up yet. I'm going to do the basement first. I intend to try to flushmount them and I'm going to put a switched outlet at each spot and then leave them on and control them with the switch instead of the chain. Hopefully it works out that way.
  2. Very strange. It looks like another product in there with it. I'm sure Dan will chime in.
  3. For mechanics, tools are how they make their living. And good quality tools are the best investment (just like good quality detail products, right?) But the tool trucks know exactly what they are doing. Show up every week with a truck full of shiny new tools and allow people to make low weekly payments. It especially works well on younger mechanics who go from hourly to flat rate and all of a sudden are making a lot more money than they ever have before. It's very easy for them to overextend themselves.
  4. HGG can be used on everything. Buttery wax should definitely not be used on rubber. It can be used on chrome and only on plastic that is painted or clear coated. Don't use it on any of the textured plastic used often as trim pieces. It can be used on lights and glass should be fine too, but I would use glass sealant.
  5. If you don't need much correction, the 15 is probably all you need. There will be some small areas you can't get into, but you might not even need to if the paint is in good shape. But if you want to be able to get to everything, the Mini is a beast and will serve you well. It's great for just working on individual scratches too.
  6. I don't have any experience with the GG either, so I can't speak on its reliability. But I don't know that I've ever seen a PC fail. And that is 3 or 4 of them used at my dealership every day for many years. I think they are all at least 8-10 years old and one of them quite a bit older.
  7. If you think it looks amazing with just the LPS, then there is absolutely no reason to add any wax over top of it. I would just do as you said and use the HGG every few washes as it is also a sealant and helps maintain the base layer of LPS. With how good sealants are now, wax isn't necessary unless you are looking for maximum shine.
  8. It definitely does look like dirt. But I'm a little confused because it looks very clean and grey where you wiped it, but the rest of the door looks tan. Tan and grey seem like an unusual combination that I can't think if I've ever seen it before. Is that what it is? Or did you wipe off all of the tan?
  9. I only got one and it's lost most of its scent now. Every now and then I'll catch a good whiff of it, but they definitely need to come back. It's an amazing scent.
  10. Great setup Dan! Looks amazing. It appears you have plenty of light, but it's still too bad you have that bulkhead in the center that blocks some of the light transferring from one side to the other.
  11. I recently purchased a bunch of 4 foot LED shop lights from Sam's that I am going to put in the basement as a test before the garage. I haven't put any up yet, but they certainly shouldn't be noisy and they should be pretty bright. They do come with chains to hang them on, but you can also flushmount them. I think they were about $35 each.
  12. Yes, it would be an orbital. My reply was to the other poster who said to be careful with an orbital or you'll do some damage. But I said they are thinking of a rotary when it comes to being careful.
  13. Get a 15 or 21 and a Mini and sell the PC and you'll probably be around $600 invested.
  14. I've been a bit nervous about doing rinseless washes with so much salt, but I'm going to do it anyway soon. I sprayed off with a pressure washer first last week and then washed, but with fairly fresh LPS and such large beads, I ended up with too much water on the car and it was much harder to wipe it dry and I had to use multiple dry towels as well. I think next time I'll go ahead and start with a dry car and just pre-soak first.
  15. You're thinking of rotary. Orbital and DA are the same thing. A DA orbits and rotates.
  16. There isn't really a minimum size as long as nothing is in the way. It can't get into tight areas well, but small areas are fine. If that makes sense.
  17. Welcome! I used to have a white 2dr mkV. Now I have a 4dr mkVII GTI.
  18. All good points there, but if they didn't think it was feasible, they probably wouldn't be in development with it for so long.
  19. I might need to look into tiles for my garage as well. I just moved in about 2 months ago and it turns out there is a low spot in the middle of the garage and all of the water that runs off the cars makes a big puddle right in the middle. And since I park on the right, it's right where I get in and out of the car. So I either need tiles or some kind of drainage system.
  20. I don't have much advice, but would this be a side business on top of your day job? I don't think you could get enough work or charge enough if all you are doing is headlights and taillights.
  21. Welcome! Very cool looking ride you've got there.
  22. Sealants actually bond with the paint, so it's best to put them on paint that is as clean as possible. Waxes just sit on the surface, so put them on top and they won't interfere with the bonding of the sealant.
