Yay for me too, use it when drying Rinseless wash panel by panel. Funny thing is I haven't used Detail Spray on a dry car yet.

Welcome Robert and great looking truck! Strip that puppy down and start over with your choice of Adam's products and I'll bet you'll see a big difference. If the bank account allows a little fluff check out the Brilliant Glaze, that will really make it pop!

Thanks for the write-up John, as I probably would not have tried the Tire Shine that I received in my last mystery box, fearing it would be too shiny...like the video showed it would be. Tried it, love it! Super VRT will be delegated to other areas now, Tire Shine for the tires from now on!

I've always been opposed to shiney tires. I really enjoy that "natural" black rubber look of tires. Of all the videos and photos I've seen of tires with Tire Shine I always felt like there was too shine (GASP!) for my taste on the tire.

Well, a few mystery boxes ago, I got a bottle of tire shine and have tried like hades to trade it out for something. VRT has been my tire dressing of choice.

Well last night I decided that my wife's Highlander would be a perfect candidate to try it out on. She won't notice and she likes shiny things. So I finally cracked the seal on the bottle and that smell.... oh that glorious sweet banana pudding flavored smell literally made my mouth water. I dropped its sprayer in the bottle got it tightened down and primed it into a fresh foam block applicator.

I opted to use the stream setting on the sprayer after the first tire because well... I made a mess of the wheel. I wish I had taken the time to cut out a wheel cover per TheWolf. Once I got that part figured out, the rest was much cleaner application. I applied several sprays moving the stream in crescent shapes to make sure it was evenly spread around the tire. I then took a foam block applicator and made one trip around the tire to knock it down and spread it before it started drying. I immediately went back and was more methodical in my spreading of the product, making sure it got into all of the grooves on the tire.

TIP: I take the corner of the foam block applicator and wedged it behind the Chrometec wheel cover to make sure that every crevice of the tire is getting some product.

Here's the photos, you be the judge but I was pleasantly surprised at the finish this morning when I backed it out into the driveway / sunlight. Not too shiny, just.... right.I attribute the more natural/matte finish to the amount of passes the foam block made over the tire. Maybe its just in my head?

You do what you want, but VRT will no longer be my first choice for tires. Adding a gallon of Tire Shine to my next order.

    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Wheels were sprayed using the stream setting with 1:1 Deep Wheel Cleaner and agitated with the Adam's Wheel Brush. Tire's coated with straight All Purpose Cleaner and scrubbed well with the Adam's Tire Brush.
After all was done, I took a wheel towel, with a spritz of detail spray and wiped down the chromatech wheels for a little extra pop.

    I like the ideas of:

    Part I: Cleaning and Assessment

When my friend brought the car over, he had just washed it the night before and only drove it back and forth to work. It was still 90% clean, and just from visual inspection of the paint, I knew I was going to be doing some heavy machine polishing on this bad boy, so I did a quick cleaning of the exterior with Waterless Wash and our waffle weave Waterless Wash Towels rather than a traditional Two Bucket Wash with Grit Guards and our Car Shampoo…plus it was pretty cold outside and much warmer in my garage!

After the wiping down all of the exterior panels and glass, I began to assess and document the condition of the paint. It was very apparent that there were swirl marks all over the car, but I found a lot of other interesting mistakes and areas where the shop that re-painted this Z06 cut some corners and did some things poorly and some things completely wrong, probably to save time and to get it on a sales lot as quickly as possible.

Here are some minor swirl marks in the front bumper, don’t worry, it gets worse.

Some pretty deep scratches right in the center of the hood:

There were also several wet sanding marks around the car that they did not fully polish out, like below the passenger mirror stalk and on the mirror itself here:

More wet sanding areas not fully polished out, same spot on both sides:

Deep scratches on the passenger side rear quarter panel where it looks like someone repeatedly bumped into it with a belt buckle:

Deep scratch on the top of the rear bumper, as well as water spots:

Lots of hazing and swirls around the trunk emblem, difficult to see most of them, but they were there:

Fairly deep scratches on the hood and roof. The auto-focus and exposure adjustment on my phone made these and other pictures look less severe than they actually were:

Next up I noticed a pretty big issue with the plastic rain channels and rubber molding that go around the doors and the windshield – the shop that repainted this car painted these areas and clear coated them as well, which you can see somewhat in the picture below. They did not however paint over the lower rubber channel of the side windows, and instead chose to leave them oxidized and stained with some type of overspray splotches:

Really deep scratches in the "just buffed" hood:

And then I discovered the biggest problem area of the car, the front third of the hood. Whomever did the work on this car clearly went over it very quickly or very poorly with a rotary polisher, and they left all sorts of nice buffer trails and holograms in the finish:

Even worse, you can clearly see a paint mismatch between the hood, and the front bumper and driver side pop-up headlight bucket. Also, notice all of those little tiny dots in the hood? Those are not rock chips or dirt. Upon closer inspection with an LED torch light, I realized this section of the hood was painted with metallic paint, with tiny dots of blue, purple, and gold metallic, when the rest of the car is straight GM Gloss Black. My best guess is that there was either metallic paint left over in the spray gun from them not cleaning it out properly in between jobs, or they just re-sprayed this area with the wrong paint and either repainted the rest of the car with the correct gloss black paint or did not repaint it at all and simply just wet sanded and polished the whole car. You can clearly see the waves and buffer trails start to disappear as you look further up the hood, creating an almost ghost flame effect on this front section of the hood. I knew I was not going to be able to fix this completely, as it would need a re-shoot with the correct non-metallic paint.

Stay tuned for Part 2: Paint Correction!

I figured I would share where my love for all things automotive began and what started my interest for detailing.

At the age of 15 I got my first vehicle under the agreement that I would be making half of the payments in order to ‘learn the value of money and responsibility’.  What I wound up picking up was a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 RCSB 2wd 5.7L Hemi that had been well taken care of by an elderly gentleman.

I went through a long process of adding and subtracting mods to suit my ever changing tastes at the time haha.  Pictures below are from after the local Independence Day Parade in my small town where I pulled a float.

I changed the front end to a Sport model bumper but was backed in to in the Walmart parking lot so it received this Street Scene bumper shortly after (go fast goodies were constantly being added during the process as well).

I finally had enough of trying to keep the chrome clean and began the process of converting it to a ‘stormtrooper’ theme with black taillights and powdercoated factory wheels because they match the body lines so well.

After removing all the chrome except for the headlights I headed out to get some updated pictures and was looking into custom headlights. These are after roughly 4 years of ownership.

However, I never got around to the headlights…..  A couple weeks later I hit some black ice where a sprinkler system had been leaking near the roadway which caused me to slide into the curb on a curve, breaking the lower control arm, causing the truck to turn sideways and ultimately roll over.

After 2 months of fighting with the insurance company, I was finally able to get them up to an $8k offer for the total damage truck which didn’t leave me much to really replace it with an equal vehicle.  At this time I was in college and almost all the money I made was going towards paying for school, I was driving back and forth to school and needed to get around in bad weather, and had begun working in the construction field so I opted for a 2002 Dodge Ram 2500 (starting to see a trend? Lol) that I then drove throughout the rest of college before buying the 2012 Ram 2500 I have now. The 2002 did not receive many mods as my finances were consumed by school and living expenses but it did get a little love. Pics below are in order from oldest (the day I bought it) to newest.

I've enjoyed detailing my personal vehicles since my first car, and made tons of mistakes along the way (still making mistakes, just not as many!). Heard about Adam's years ago on the Corvette Forums, but never pulled the trigger to try them out. Recently I've been running out of a few products, and others were aged, so finally decided to go Adam's.

Placed my first order a week or so before Christmas for Brilliant Glaze, H2O G&G and Buttery Wax to try out, the holidays stalled the order a bit. In the meantime I cruised the Forum and checked out the video's multiple times. On Christmas day I emailed Adam about a non important observation in the Forums, which I didn't expect a reply to. Not long after the man himself emailed me back...on Christmas day to say the least! With customer interaction & dedication like that I was sold even before my products arrived.

So here I am, waiting on my 3rd order which should hold me over for at least a little while. Gave the '15 Vette a go round with BG, G&G and a topper of Buttery and am blown away. The paint looks so liquidy that it appears to be in motion!

The '98 Vette which was my daily driver on and off (~140k miles) now belongs to my youngest son, and will be getting the full makeover this coming week. Will try and post some pics of both by the weekend if anyone is interested.

Whoa...didn't mean to type that much and bore everyone, typical for me to make a short story long, lol.
Anyway, with the great attention to detail (pun intended) and customer service from Adam's (and Adam himself), the excellent products so far and the ease of use I am a customer for a very long time.

Happy detailing to all and looking forward to what 2016 will bring!
