  1. I think time is the big thing. I have had issues as well and I think I ended up with about 6-8 minutes on my vehicle before it was ready. Seems its better gauged by how grabby its starting to get than by the time. I think its pretty easy to wipe on and wipe completely back off. As a matter of fact I had a failed Adams ceramic job that I am pretty sure was caused by that. But I will say, once you get the graphene down correctly its amazing.
  2. I scrubbed the heck out of mine with tire and rubber cleaner and a stiff brush with no success. Its really something you want to do before the trim restore anyway. Unfortunately, the reviews on this site for the Trim restore longevity are not great. My recommendation to anyone using Graphene would be to keep it off the trim regardless of what Adams says.
  3. Couple photos of trim pieces half done with Adams trim restore.
  4. Well honestly I don't think this is your mistake and more of an Adams issue for showing improper use in their first graphene video. I have the same issue after several months. It looked fine at first but gets milky over time. Adams video showed applying it to the trim and that you did not need to get in a hurry to wipe it down. This certainly is the incorrect method. I have tried some Adams trim restore on my back bumper step and it appears to work fine, but don't know about the longevity of it. Basically my entire truck needs done.
  5. Just a few months actually but its been a struggle to keep protect-ant of any kind on it. I have a 1000sf garage with heated floors with drains and setup to wash but the way the roads are its going to be trashed quickly. So was not ambitious enough to do a hand wash.
  6. Follow up. I do not like car washes I always hand wash and have not been to car wash in years. But our winter has been brutal and I had white salt and stuff growing on the truck. So off the car wash I went. I have never been able to get road film off so its really never clean when I leave. But with the graphene was amazing. Dirt came off easy and was spotless when I left.
  7. It certainly can be done but lot of upkeep once you do it. I have stripped and polished TBSS wheels and they looked great when done but I did not re clear them. Buying replicas from Tony is an easier option.
  8. @luke1333 My 2 cents worth. I have been a fan of Adams for several years. I have NOT been a fan of their protectant products as they never really held up very well in my environment compared to the other cheaper brands. That has changed recently when I tried Adams Graphene ceramic. It is undoubtedly the best product I have ever used. Super slick (unlike their original ceramic) and very durable. I really did not have a ton of it left after doing the white truck in the picture but it was enough. I did have enough remaining to do 1/2 of my wifes hood and testing other products on the other half. The Graphene is still going strong and the other stuff disappears in a few washes. I am still finding my way with boost maintenance but have had great results with graphene detail spray. Chris mentioned Wash & Coat. I had not heard of it and Adams has did a pretty good job hiding it in their store. I am not a fan of wash and wax stuff and the reviews really do not look great on the product so I think I am going to stick with what works for now. I think you will be happy and as mentioned above the kit is enough to do a full size truck like mine. One thing I will mention is you really need to get a feel for when to wipe it off. All the Adams videos I watched showed it being applied and then removed pretty quickly. In my case (70 degrees and high humidity) it really took about 8 minutes and I found the best way to know is when its starting to get grabby with the towel when you wipe it off. Welcome to the site. I am sure you will be happy with the Adams kit.
  9. I have to say the Graphene Detail Spray is pretty impressive. Pretty sure the gloss is better than anything I have used. I am thinking about coating this vehicle so this picture it was just washed (with APC) and detail sprayed until I decide. Looking forward to playing with it on other vehicles.
  10. So being honest I am a big fan of Adams products but have not had decent longevity with anything they sell. LPS, Patriot, etc. I even had bad results with an Adams ceramic job which in my opinion was caused by improper instructions after a product change in Adams original ceramic. Actually, I was told this by customer service. It left a bad taste in my mouth for Adams protection products and I was led to another brand that was a hybrid ceramic spray wax. Was cheap, easy to apply and in my opinion worked as well as anything Adams I had used. Because of my results with other brand I recommended it to a few friends. On a whim I decided to try Graphene on my truck. Little learning curve with it as well but in the end I got a decent coating on the truck and am very happy with it. I had a little bit of the graphene left in the bottle so I thought I would do half my wifes hood with it and see how it held up over the winter. At the same time I did the other half of the hood with this other brand product. Picture below. Graphene on the right, brand X on the left. EDIT: this was after 3 hand washes with Adams shampoo! I already have another ceramic kit sitting on the shelf ready to do her car when we have a free weekend. Rich
  11. Dan, I actually ordered more and then cancelled it. I had enough left in bottle to go over the painted surfaces again. It has always been a fear to leave ceramic on too long. But on the second coat I decided I would try a panel and see how it worked. It really took about 8 to 10 minutes before I think it was ready. 70 degrees and I am guessing pretty high humidity in garage. The first time at 4 minutes was basically like wiping oil back off. At 8 to 10 minutes it was more like wiping off old school paste wax. I guess live and learn. Just did not expect it take that long. But on the bright side I could pretty much do an entire door or fender. Doing a 2' x 2' section and then waiting 10 minutes would have sucked. But I feel good about it now and the next time around Thanks Rich PS: Do you guys know there are a bunch of broken icon images, etc. on the forum?
  12. Hey Dan, Thanks for response. I ended up waiting 4 minutes per section and then wiping it off. I am seriously concerned that I wiped most of it off. I never really did feel it get that tacky. I used the suede towels (both of them) alternating and flipping and then when done used a single soft to polish it out. I really do not want to do this again for a while. Wondering if I should order another bottle of graphene and do it again and let it sit 5 or 6 or even 7 minutes. The Adams video I was was really not on panel long so I did not want to wait longer. So should I order more?
  13. Another question(s) for those that have used graphene coating. I was expecting more sticky on removal. The stuff is rainbowing but just does not seem to really get that tacky. I expected a little more of a work out. Truck is 70 degrees as its been in a climate controlled garage for 2 days. I have a UV flashlight (non Adams) but it really does not seem to work very well for showing the coating. Maybe because the truck is iridescent pearl?
  14. Thanks Chris That is longer than I expected. In 30 days I should be able to get the ambition to do wheels, running boards and grill. Good chance I will do running boards today anyway. The wheels have another brand of ceramic on them and so I might just clean them and put boost on. Rich
  15. So have my truck prepped and ready for graphene tomorrow. I have not decided if I am going to do the chrome including the wheels yet. Once bottle it open how long is it good for if I get ambitious?
  16. I will definitely try the slick and slide. I mean it is Hawaiian Punch scented. I dont see how a guy could go wrong Honestly, I was almost ready to try coating again until I saw the thread about new truck and the grey trim. Figured I better let you guys workout the bugs!
  17. Thanks for all the good info Dan. As far as my first coating attempt. With all due respect the instructions were either wrong or incomplete. I followed Adams video to a Tee. The instructions at the time backed this up. All I know is within a month the truck would not bead water at all and I was told the formula had changed slightly and the instructions were incorrect and I probably did not leave it on long enough. (per Emery). I was also told this "Was not covered under your normal warranty" What?? Regardless, its water under the bridge to me. I have continued to buy Adams products with the exception of wax. At this time I am just not comfortable with buying ceramic products including Graphene from Adams. That may change in the future and really hope it does. Right now I just dont feel like dropping another $100 on a coating kit when the first one I bought never worked. As always appreciate your knowledge and support. Rich
  18. It must be a characteristic of ceramic because now that Graphene is out they are using the better water spotting abilities of Graphene against ceramic.
  19. Thanks Chris, Graphene sounds like the way to go. I think I will just try it in another brand.
  20. Well I am glad you suggested it as the results were amazing. Will save me a bunch of work. As far as the graphene I have a message into them to cancel the order after seeing the post about grey trim on that truck. Bad instructions and application issues sound to familiar with my first experience with Adams ceramic. The Adams application video is not even right. As always I appreciate your knowledgeable input.
  21. @falcaineer I did not want to mess up that other thread so back here I just went out and washed the front of the truck. Hood, bumper, fenders and grill. The iron remover is not really showing signs of purple but after washing those panels I can say without a doubt it strips the brown stuff off including that stain you saw with little effort. Way better than APC. Course it stripped the protectant right off the hood and fenders but certainly easier than APC so will use that when I strip wash it before graphene.
  22. Chris, you guys need to pull the videos off YouTube as well or there are going to be a ton of unhappy people. Jump to 12 minute mark in video.
  23. Chris, No purple really with exception of a couple trails on the area I tested so its not iron. But it does seem to attack the spots as good as the APC if not slightly better. I am guessing after the Graphene is applied its still going to take an APC wash and then whatever I come up with for a maintenance product/drying agent.
