  1. I'm in for one. I bought one on sale last year but gave it away for Christmas, and I dont recall exactly what it smells like. I hope it smells better than the blueberry! Loved that bottle but the blueberry smelled like.... well, not like blueberry. Incidentally I have an unopened bottle of it, that might be going up for trade.

I think the Blueberry actually smells like urinal cakes....... not that I would expect you to know what that smells like.   :jester:   All joking aside, it smells like high end bathroom cleaner to me.  Not at all like Blueberry.  I've got my cart full of other goodies just waiting to pull the trigger on the Pumpkin Spice when it's released.

  2. You may want to hit the painted surfaces with a clay bar, using detail spray as a lubricant.  The clay should remove any remaining paint the same as it would remove other contaminants.  I would also try full strength APC and a stiff brush on the wheel well liners. If that works, use the APC and a soft brush or wheel woollie on the plastic trim.

  3. Welcome to the forum Tony. :welcomebanner:

You'll definitely want to get Ceramic Coating on that beauty as soon as you can get the paint correction done. It makes a world of difference in maintenance going forward.  Also, if you have the patience and the money, Ceramic Coating for the wheels will help with the brake dust and the harsh road salt in the Winter.

Good luck with the new ride.

  4. I'm usually the only person in my car, with an occasional passenger heading to lunch.  So the car stays pretty clean.  That said, I keep a single soft in the car and clean dust all the time.  I only use products on the car when I see something that needs to be addressed.  I will detail the dash and sun facing areas of the interior every couple months.  Just to keep some UV protection going.

Ditto.  I usually just dust off the dash and arm rests with a microfiber towel while getting gas in my daily driver.  I actually use the cheap bulk towels for this purpose since there is no risk of scratching anything inside.  I also keep another cheap microfiber to dry off the door panels if they get wet while getting in or out in the rain or when I have to roll down the windows in the rain.

  5. I usually take advantage of Friday evening after work to clean the wheels on my vehicles.  I can easily spend 20 to 30 minutes per wheel on my Charger.......lots of spokes.  I'll clean one at a time and then dry completely with the Sidekick to avoid any water spots.  I don't bother setting up my pressure washer for a "wheels only" wash. I also don't bother applying any tire dressing until I wash the vehicle since I foam the wheels again during the exterior wash.

When I get the wheels done a day or two in advance, it allows me to focus my wash day (usually Sunday ) on the exterior paint and windows.  If I do wheels and exterior in the same day, I typically spend 4 or 5 hours including set-up and clean up time.

  6. Welcome Herr Thorben.   :welcomebanner:  You'll definitely want to apply the ceramic coating to your wheels to cut down on the maintenance time. The brake dust will just rinse off with a strong blast from the hose once the coating is applied. Post some pictures of your Passat and keep us updated with your results.

  7. Welcome Devin !  Agreed........black vehicles are tough to keep clean.  You may want to invest in the Ceramic Coating Kit and save yourself a lot of maintenance time keeping it clean.  Just a suggestion.  Post some pics.

  8. In Iowa it snows about 6 months out of the year so that kills that, before I got rid of it I was telling the Fiancee that I'd have to put it away most likely right before our wedding in November because it could snow at anytime after that.  The other bad is the tires it had to be about 40 Degrees to run them. Then you worry about storms and hail, just wasn't worth having it to just drive from here to there on the weekends.

I had an '86 GT 5.0 that I bought in 1990 and owned for 8 years. It became a garage queen for the last 3 or 4 years I owned it so I could keep it nice. I only drove it once or twice a year toward the end.  I was paying around $1100 / year for insurance, so those became expensive trips around the block. I finally sold it to buy materials for a cedar deck I built. :(
