I've seen some crazy detailing at car shows the past few years.  Well yesterday I saw a new one at the gas station.    A lady went through the automatic wash.   After it finished she pulled out and parked.  The she walked  over by the gas pumps and grabbed a hand full of the nice soft blue paper towels and proceeded to dry off her car.  I cringed watching her.   I was too far away to see the condition of the paint I can only imagine.

I was filling up last week and I watched a lady wash her entire car at the pump with the windshield washing sponge. I couldn't believe what I was seeing

I had that issue as well. After the tire shine they used flung all over the side of my truck I stopped back up there and suggested they at least ask customers if they want it done. He replied with,"Well we would be more than happy to wash your truck for you." Which I appreciate the offer but there's no way they're washing my truck. They did great on the tire install and that's what they should stick too.

I've read many stories about bringing your car to a dealer telling them not  to wash your car.   I totally understand and agree with that.  Never thought I would have a similiar issue at a tire shop.  I brought my 69 Buick to the local Firestone where I have been many times before.  Although its been a few years.  Anyway I bought BFG Redlines for my 69 Buick online as they don't carry them.  I called made an appt as they said customers do this all the time.  They put the tires on which seemed to take forever.  At one point I asked when they would be done.  He said they are just torquing them down.   Another 30 mins goes by and finally my car is pulled around.  I paid and when I went out I was pretty upset.   They had dressed each tires with some sort of creamy greasy stuff.  It made the tire look wet and it was loaded on so much that it flinged on the car.  It was all stuck in between the tire and the rim.  They never even asked.   As soon as I got home I took a cheapo microfiber and wiped off the first layer then I hit it with APC and they cleaned up nice.   Never had them do that to other tires I brought there.  So something to think of if you bring your car in for tires.  Knowing what I know now in the future I will ask "please do not put any dressing on my tires"

Adam's should make a modified wash wedge with a place to mount a long pole for using on trucks/suv roofs and RVs. It would also give a different option for washing in the cold. No more cold, wet hands!

    What do y'all think?

Just orderd a new bottle of Metal Polish.  It came with the new top.  I have to say I'm not a fan.   Worked fine for dispensing.  But in order to close it you waste a whole pump of polish.   I thought maybe I'll just leave it up but then I can't shake up the bottle.  Luckily I kept the old top.  Am I missing something?

Just picked this car up this weekend.  1969 Buick California GS.   Here a few pics.  Ones in the garage were after a revive polish and buttery wax.   I clay barred the windows, glass cleaner.  Interior cleaner on the inside.  Still need VRT on the door panels and seats as they were worn from the sun.  Did a test yesterday and that is going to work great.   Tonight going to polish the bumpers and wheels.

Don't know how many of you guys read Jalopnik, I am sure many do.  They just posted a really neat and heart warming video of a family whose son/brother has autism and they wanted to find a business that would employ him and create value and purpose for him, but wanted to do it together.  They started a carwash that employs over 30 a individuals with autism.  This article and video made my day and is extremely heart warming.  The power of family, compassion, and the want to make a difference in people's lives is incredible.

When I wash my cars when its wet I spray detail spray and then dry it.   I have hard water and have had some streaks.  My last step after the car is dry is to go around the entire car with a double soft and detail spray.   Takes care of any streaks or missed water runs, etc.  Also makes the paint pop.

On really heavily soiled glass I actually use cheapo costco microfibers initially, with a bit more nap than the Adams glass towel it's easier to get the dirt and grime "absorbed" into the towel.

Then I go over with a light mist and the Adams glass towel to buff to a streak free finish. Keeps your Adams glass towels cleaner for longer amount of time.

Bought this one in 2007 with 96k miles.  Now it has just over 100k.  Has the gray interior.  Pretty much stock other than a cold air kit, LS1 Maf, translator.   Runs great, A/C blows cold.  These days its more of a garage queen.   We have a good group up in Northern IL.  "GN T-type Central" on FB.    We had 115 cars at our last get together earlier this year. People still think its a silver Grand National.
