Really light misty rain all day today.
Parked my car side by side to my dad and the difference was quite visible!
Picture 1 shows my Metallic Gray which is clayed, RW, then finished with HGG.
Picture 2 shows my dad’s White that hasn’t been detailed yet. Hopefully Monday after the weather clears up.

VRT holding up well after driving 2 days in the rain. Not really shiny anymore but looks like a clean matte kinda finish.

In that case, I'd stick with regular WW (or RW diluted 16:1) and Detail Spray. You can always get the Ceramic Waterless at a later time (it's great!), whenever the mood strikes you!

Really depends on how much it builds up and what the dust consists of. If it's pollen or industrial waterless or rinseless will work with caution.  Like @falcaineer said, waterless is my go to followed by detail spray or the new ceramic waterless (which is amazing by the way).

I realized that too late about the hose under water. By the time I realized, I barely had any water, just foam 😂

I didn’t know the new HGG could be applied dry with dry towel. I’ll give that a go next time. Thanks for the tip 👍

    Before Wash Pictures #1-2
Had to take a 2 hour round trip in the rain couple days ago and car got filthy.

Fortunately the weather cleared up today I could do a proper wash. Previously the only wash I did was RW. But the weather was sunny 70°F today so I decided to try the Two bucket wash with Ultra foam shampoo.

Picture #3 shows me messing up with the UFS I think. I put Grit guard in empty bucket, tossed the Microfiber mitt then squeezed quite a bit of UFS then I used the hose to spray water in. It foamed a lot as you can see it overflowed and the water didn’t turn purple so I squeezed some more in then sprayed more, resulting in just MORE FOAM. Decided to just start washing instead, the process wasn’t hard but I for some reason prefer RW I feel it is less messy than foamy buckets.

After wash, I dried using Microfiber towels then parked car inside garage so I could try the new Spray Wax that I got in the Clear MB. I gotta say I love the SW I like it more than HGG since I can apply dry with dry towel. Plus after applying it I got the slick feeling I had when I first clayed the car before. It is definitely thicker than Detail spray, smells as good but it does dye whatever it touches. My hands and Double soft towel ended up very pink. I liked it so much I think I’ll replace HGG with it. The wet towel + dry towel wasn’t my thing.

First time using a Detailing stool today as well. It really saved me from the pain on the knees. Unfortunately I have a sloped driveway but using it inside the garage was still great.

Pictures #4-5 show the stool, it is bigger than I expected. I didn’t install the cup holders as it doesn’t hold Adam’s bottles very well. I just toss the stuff on the tray. Sun was setting so I couldn’t get really shiny pictures but it looked great when I finished up.

LuckyKorean reacted to falcaineer in 2 months since HGG, what now?
To clarify, HGG is a supplement as well as a stand-alone protection product.

PS does go on first to bond properly, and it's normal and recommended to clay before you apply it. It's also recommended to clay before HGG if used as a stand-alone.

I've had awesome success with PS as my base, and HGG every few washes. I do not strip wash it except before I plan to do a full correction and/or reapply PS.

HGG will last 3-6 months depending on conditions, whereas American may last a month or two. BW even less. If you have a dark color car and it sits in hot sun, wax can dissipate in days or less...surface temps can have a dramatic effect as the caranuba reaches a boiling point.

Here's a good video from Adam on some product differences between HGG, Ceramic Boost, Spray Wax and DS (watch to the end).

HGG and Ceramic Boost will last about the same, 3-6 months. Americana a month or two, depending on conditions.

All depends on conditions since the wax can dissipate quickly, as mentioned above.

This is exactly why I use black nitrile gloves when I wash my car. First time I used Rinseless I was too excited and went barehanded. My hands end up super dry and chapped. I have sensitive skin that didn’t help at all 😢 since then I apply moisturizer then put on nitrile gloves(powder free).

100 gloves is ~$15 for the quality thicker black nitrile gloves

I admire your hustle at such a young age!  It’s something to be commended.

Being so young offers you a ton of advantages. The biggest is time to gain experience. The second is you don’t need to make big money to “pay the bills” yet in life.

A few things to consider. First, don’t call it a detailing business...yet. You’re looking at more of a car wash/cleaning service. Detailing implies a whole level you’re not ready to provide yet. You will get there. I’m confident of that.

Being in an upper middle class area, you should have some folks willing to give you business just out of respect for your hustle. Do well by them and work will flow in from their circles.

To grow your business, cover expenses for product, your time and to leave some money in the business for expansion (tools, etc down the line).

It will take time, but you will grow. I’ll make you this offer...PM me any time you want with with questions. I’m happy to help you out. I’ve done it for others here on this forum.

I would love to find a local kid with your drive. I would open the doors and help you learn more before sending you on your way with your business. There’s enough work to go around for everyone.

Most automotive interior shops are men who sew.  No insult there.

Also, I was digging through my inventory last night and found 2 Adam's aprons brand new.  I think I'll put one on my site.  Most likely FREE with a purchase of another product!

My sister-in-law has made me 2 - one with the old 'wide' logo, and a new one for Christmas with the new 'A' logo about 5 inches across.

And for PC's sake, her brother just built a new shop for his sewing machines - he does interiors.

If you want to get the wax color out, treat the towel the same as the HGG method above, then machine wash.  I think that MRB works better with towels than APC.

You know you’re a detailer when you have more Microfiber towels than bath/hand towels in the house.
You really know you’re a detailer when your car gets dried with $30 Adam’s drying towel when your body gets dried with a random $10 towel.

You can store the used towels until you have enough for a load, just as long as you hang them to dry first before storing them.  Use a tote with a lid, and not an open laundry basket, to keep them from getting contaminated if stored in the garage.

The only exception to this method is towels used for H2O Guard & Gloss.  Since this product is water-activated, it is importation to get the product cleaned out of the towels immediately after you are done.  Do not let the product sit in the towels and cure.

My process is to rinse them out in the sink really good with warm water, to get most of the HGG out, then spray all sides of the towel with full-strength MRB, and really work the towel in your hands to get the detergent into the fibers.  Then I rinse them out, and repeat with the MRB.  On the final rinse, I will just half rinse the towels, leaving some MRB in the towel, not a lot, just a little.  I then hang the towels to dry.  Once dry, I store them in a sealed tote until I get enough for a load in the washing machine.  I wash these towels separately, and use MRB in the washing machine on hot water, with an extra rinse.
