  1. It was kind of cool seeing my work on TV. I hadn't thought about that. I was more worried about me being on TV everytime they had a shot of the announcers. But we couldn't see what was being broadcast or hear anything. And the camera men are sneeky. So maybe I was picking my nose on national TV, I don't know One buddy on mine said I looked angry and was worried I wasn't having a good time. Wait until Friday's show, you will see some real reactions out of us, and that is all I can say.
  2. I know some of you must watch WWE. Well tonight the on USA you may have notice a red Ferrari behind Alberto Del Rio. It was owned by Erik of Man Cave Colorado (an Adam's Dealer) and detailed by me. Using what you ask? Nothing but Adam's products. As a bit of a spoiler, look this Friday on WWE for a white Lambo Gallardo. Also detailed by me using Adam's Polishes. I am not a WWE fan but I must say I had a great time at the event. If you watched tonight you would have seen me and the Man Cave crew seated directly behind Jerry Lawler. A very cool evening. A big thanks to Adam's. Without you guys, we could not have given these cars the shine we did. And a special thanks to Matt @ Adam's who also helped on the Ferrari a few weeks ago. Thanks Matt. Check out the video here: WWE.com: Sheamus vs. Jack Swagger: Raw, July 9, 2012 Enjoy a few pictures from tonite. As a refresher, here is me working on that very same Ferrari at a previous event:
  3. Due to expected extreme weather, including severe thunderstorm watches and a flash flood watch for the town of Morrison, the KBPI Rock and Roll Car Show at Bandimere Speedway in Morrison, CO has been post-poned until Sunday August 26th. The decision was made because the event coordinators want to be able to put on the best and, more importantly, safest possible show for the attendees. The good news is that we will have more time to prepare and you have more time to register your vehicle with your Adam's shine for the event. Thanks for understanding. For more information check out the KBPI website at; KBPI's 8TH ANNUAL ROCK 'N' ROLL CARSHOW - 106.7 KBPI Rocks The Rockies
  4. Think BG will work on my glass cook top? LOL
  5. Ha, I know the feeling. When my wife started pointing things out when going down the road, I knew she was actually paying attention. She also came home one day last winter asking why the kitchen smelled like Detail Spray. To the wives.
  6. My tip: there is a button on the side that locks the trigger. I found it on accident and it is a life saver where doing odd angles and low or high panels. Otherwise, what they said.
  7. Last Weekend the wife and I traveled up America's Highest Paved Road on Mount Evans, just west of Denver. Anyone who has ever looked at a can of Coors has seen this mountain. Once we got to the parking lot we hiked the rest of the way, summiting at 14,200 above sea level. It was 98 degrees in Denver and 41 degrees at the summit and was snowing. Luckily I had my trusty Adam's sweatshirt in the car. This got me thinking, does anyone else have any great photos wearing thier Adam's shirts, hats, or other swag at memorable locations? Post up and share your pics.
  8. Good choice. If you are not sure if it could be harmful, best not to do it. Always feel free to ask on Adamsforums though. Someone is bound to have tried it before.
  9. To help avoid sealents, glaze, and waxes from sticking to the trim, apply SVRT before polishing or waxing. It adds a protective barrier and makes it easier to get the offending product off of the trim.
  10. Do you have the wheels off the car? Time for different brake pads.
  11. Acids should only be used by a detailer experienced with doing so and with proper safety precuations. Typically only on metal parts and when all else fails. Michael nailed it. Adam's Car Shampoo with 2 oz on All Purpose Cleaner in a bucket whould sufficiently strip the vehicle of any wax and contaminants. Followed by clay.
  12. Add a 4 oz bottle of detail spray and 2000 grit sand paper for really thrashed headlights. Apply brilliant glaze for protection.
  13. Sealent and wax when you start to see that the water on the finish does not bead up like it should anymore. Probably 4-6 months depending on how the vehicle is stored and how often you wash. Clay every time you get an oil change or when it feels rough. Nose, windshield, and rear will need clay more often than the rest. Polish 6 months.
  14. Sweet Nick. Post up that you are coming when the date gets sooner and maybe we can get a bunch of Adam's Forum folks together to welcome you to the Rockies. You have to drive within a few hundred yards of my place to get to Denver anyway.
  15. The best thing you can do to proect the finish on your car is to place it in a bubble, don't touch it, and NEVER drive it. If that is not an option, do as Jack mentioned in the second post. I will also add that a Master Blaster will be a great asset, and will allow you to drive you cars without touching them. If the price tag on that is too much, then the Great White Drying Towel is a must. Get both if it is within your budget to do so.
  16. Peter, You have all of your preliminary process correct: wash, clay, and polish. Revive is primarily used for hand polishing, however, it can be useful for light polishing on some vehicles with a PC when mixed with Fine Machine Polish. That is another subject. Here is what I typically tell people. Quick Sealent (QS) was developed as a synthetic sealent similar to Machine Super Sealent and was not expected to last more than a couple of months. However, real-world testing has seen it dimish as long as 5 months after application. It is an easy to use, short-term protection product. Its best quality is that it cures in 30 minutes (more on this in a moment). QS is great for door jambs, trunk jambs, and wheels. Machine Super Sealent is similar to QS. Biggest differences, it lasts longer, is applied by machine, and takes 24 hours to cure. Both sealents must be applied directly to the vehicle finish. Brilliant Glaze is an amazing product. Its thin application provides some protection to your finish but does not last long on its own. When combined with a sealent and/or wax it will "flatten" your finish by filling in micro scratches and provides a level surface on which to lay your choice of wax on top of. This will give you your best depth of shine. You can either place Brilliant Glaze on your finish or on top of a sealent. When you apply BG over a sealent you have to consider the cure time of the sealent. The sealent must fully cure before applying BG. This is why most prefer QS as it sets up much quicker. BG also has a detergent in it and is optically clear. Feel free to use it on your windows as a short-term glass sealent in a pinch. Buttery Wax is a liquid caranuba and Americana a paste caranuba. Personally I prefer Americana. It is a superior product and when applied is less wasteful. Americana is more expensive, but more is apllied to the finish (less loss in the applicator), cures harder, and provides better protection and shine. Buttery wax tends to accumulate in the applicator but is more economcially priced. Both products provide excellent results. When either is applied over Brilliant Glaze, the BG and wax create a depth effect. Here is your options for protection: -Quick Sealent or Machine Sealent applied to the vehicle finish. -Buttery Wax or Americana applied to the finish. -Brilliant Glaze applied to the finish with Buttery or Americana applied over the BG. -Sealent applied to the finish, with a layer of BG on top of the sealent, then wax on top of the BG. (Quick Sealent, Brilliant Glaze, then American is my prefered method. This provides the best possible shine and depth in the least amount of time). The sealent protects the car, the BG protects the Sealent, and the Wax protects the BG. This will provide the best shine and depth and longest lasting protection. Hope this helps.
  17. My Grandma loved this show. Watched it all the time for years and years. When she got Alzheimer's, she was the luckiest woman in the world. She got to watch all new episodes for the first time in 40 years.
  18. Who has 2 thumbs and is guilty of this? <<<< This guy. http://www.adamsforums.com/forums/lounge/18664.htm On the other hand, I think it is a good place to start your search for a good detailer with one of these contests. It will give you a list of shops that you can look into, who are established, popular, and may have a good reputation. Then do your research on each one and make an informed decision on which business can meet your needs and budget.
  19. In Denver contests, they distinguish between detailers and car washes.
  20. Welcome to the forums. This is actually a really great question. I am looking forward to the responces. Price can be a factor in your decision. I find the cheaper the detail, the lower the quality. I find that most quality detailers charge a minimum of $40 per hour. I charge $50, and I know a few that charge $75 an hour. A good detail can take even a great detailer a day or more. Be prepared to get what you pay for. Len makes great points. Get an established detailer who can prove his or her work. A website with before and after pictures. Anyone who uses Adam's exclusively I find is always a good detailer. Look at what kinds of cars they are showing off. If their clients trust them with high-end, classic, and custom cars that can be a good indication of thier skill level. If your city has a local paper or TV station that does an annual "Best Of" competition, look into those. Ask questions. Good detailers will always share thier knowledge. Educating a customer is very important and we always like to show off our skills and brag a little. Ask what thier process is. Do they clay? (if not, IMHO walk away). If they have a shop, is the bathroom clean (pet peave of mine). Call your local Adam's dealer. I believe Mike at XQIZT Automotive in Orlando is the closest to you. 21. By the way guys, thank you again. We are currently in 1st place, but by a narrow margin. Keep the votes coming and support your local Adam's Dealer.
  22. True enough that the FBI is investigating it. I can see the smoke from my house near Denver International Airport from the fires in Colorado Springs, Boulder, and Ft. Collins. The sunsets are really pretty until you realize it is the forest and people's homes burning.
