I suggest applying a strip of tape over the area where weights will go (usually the outer part of the barrel behind the face of the rim) the apply the coating. This will give the weights a place to stick and will be easy enough to clean down the road. A 1” wide length of tape will do.
Had a bear of a time getting weights to stick on my SS after coating. I will use tape next time.

Wheels are no different than paint. They’re typically clear coated so they polish like paint. If you’re going to try to polish them, the least aggressive to most aggressive method still applies. I’d start with a test spot inside the barrels or somewhere hidden and I’d start with finishing polish and pads. Essentially using them as a cleaner.  The process is the same as paint, so clay won’t hurt as would wheel cleaner for decontamination.

Satin by nature has a slight sheen so changing appearances will be less noticeable. Adding a coating will darken them slightly as well.

I've noticed my non ceramic items just sitting.  I generally try to use them on my work vehicles since they aren't coated.  Some items I may offer to some relatives that aren't as into the hobby as much and are happy to use anything lol

You aren't misunderstanding at all! You're correct in that you can use a few light mists of Ceramic Spray Coating to aid in the removal of flashed Ceramic Paint Coating or Ceramic Wheel Coating. I've even used the Spray Coating to go back over a few high spots or streaks that I may have accidentally missed when applying Paint or Wheel Coating - these usually are most noticeable on a dark color paint like black, gray, navy blue, etc.

Using Ceramic Spray Coating to aid in wiping off our Paint or Wheel Coating won't really add much more protection in that particular aspect, since you're just spraying a bit to make the flashed coating easier to wipe off (much like you can use Detail Spray to aid in removing Buttery Wax residue that may have hazed up a little too long); however, applying Ceramic Spray Coating after Paint or Wheel Coating have cured would add a little extra protection on top of the coating to help it to not wear down as fast, much like Ceramic Boost and Ceramic Paste/Liquid Wax do as well.

For everyone else wondering about the video, here's a direct link to it! It's a very informative 10-minute video of our chemist Chris and Joe our Creative Director having a discussion on the process and science behind ceramic coatings, and specifically our Ceramic Spray Coating:

I apologize as I didn't fully understand your question. For Ceramic Coating, you CAN use Ceramic Spray Coating as a removal aid. For Ceramic Spray Coating, you DON'T want to use more Ceramic Spray Coating as a removal aid.

It's the other way around.  Americana is the longest lasting traditional wax.

Buttery is not something I would consider for a daily unless you like to wax monthly.

Had a friend come by to have me look at her IS350c that she bought new in 2009(2010 model) that she has never had polished, waxed or even the wheels cleaned.. Will give her this, it only saw touchless carwashes, so wasnt too bad with swirls.  The carwashes did a number on the paint tho.. dull, lifeless and a wicked stain coming out of the mirrors, almost like they aren't sealed to the body properly.  Well, 6hrs later, stripped, clayed, polished, sealed, glazed and buttery waxed and wheels cleaned as best as possible without taking them off.. looks not too bad.  She did the interior, good thing she is a bit of neat freak, the inside wasn't bad.. just some spots needed Leather Cleaner and the rest treated with Leather Conditioner and Interior Detailer...
Oh, and she went home and placed an order with Adams..  another person hooked on Adams after seeing the results...

Pre-detailing..notice the stain under the mirror:

Lighting is important, before I polished and coated mine I went to rural king and they had a nice size led tripod type light with two big led lights on it.  Roughly $70 I think.  They had a smaller cheaper one but worried it wouldn't light up the area as well.  It worked great, if anyone is considering a setup like that.

I pulled the trigger on the sidekick blower a couple years ago, not sure why I waited.  I'd say I use it most on my wheels and tires.  It blows water from all them nooks that normally can't be dried until you go drive the car and spin them out.  I also like blowing off the tire sidewalls before I apply VRT.  If you are going to wait on the master blaster, maybe pick up a sidekick til then.

We might go through 15ml with the airbrush method. I would say one bottle is adequate for three sets of wheels.

So after thinking it over I wanted to update what I ended up doing to the wheels.  I decided to do another layer of ceramic on top of the probably half layer I probably didn't let cure long enough.  So after they cured for a few days I prep coat wiped them down again.  I applied a fresh layer of ceramic to them, this time letting them cure to the proper doneness.  The carbon graphite finish on the rims I think made it hard to see the product flashing.  But I kept feeling the layer to tell if it started to get sticky.  Then buffed off.  I waited 15 hours then applied ceramic boost.
Now I am awaiting til I have time to get the tires mounted and the level collars installed hopefully this week.
It looked like the coating went on fine, with no issues thus far in clarity that I could tell.  Hopefully this works out well, I will keep an eye on things and update down the road if issues arise.  Guess we will call this a test if you will.
